I read Patti's book and last year I met her when I attended an event where she spoke.
The Fest for Beatles Fans, perhaps?

I've attended the one (formerly known as Beatlefest) in New Jersey quite a few times. My youngest daughter was 6 years old the first time I took her along with me and my older daughter. My kids have all been young Beatles fans. I believe Patti was at the New Jersey fest, I think last March? My favorite part of Beatlefest is listening to the guest speakers. There have been many wonderful guests over the years.
I remember talking with Louise Harrison, George's sister, quite a few years ago. She was very gracious. I still have the candy bar wrapper she autographed for me.
My dad bought it for my mom as an anniversary present! My mom is a monster Beatles fan - she saw them in concert once, she still has all of her old records (some of them have little hearts next to their names that she and my aunt added), she also stayed in movie theaters to watch A Hard Day's Night and Help all day long.
She even has pictures that her friend's father took of the TV screen when they were on Ed Sullivan (oh, the days before
YouTube!) - her friend sold them at school for $.25 apiece! And she plays guitar, and she taught me (what else?) Beatles songs on the guitar too.
Last year we even went took a Beatles tour in Liverpool. That was really cool. We got to see the Casbah Club, where they first played in when they were the Quarrymen - it's actually Pete Best's basement. It still has all the stuff they painted on the walls, and where John carved his name into one wall (and never finished it because Pete's mom flipped when she caught him!).
So of course, I'm totally converted - I love The Beatles! A Hard Day's Night is one of my favorite movies. I watched it twice on VH1 this weekend and I quote it endlessly. I can't wait to play the game and get the remasters too.
I am so jealous that your mom got to attend a Beatles concert! I was eight years old when they first came to America, too young to attend a concert.

I do have many of their original albums, and I have boxes of Beatles magazines and magazines with articles about the Beatles, Beatlefan and Daytripper magazines, well over a hundred Beatles books, all of their music on CDs, every one of Ringo's albums, all of their movies, and many, many VHS tapes and DVDs. And I keep adding to the collection every time a new book or DVD comes out. I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting information on the Beatles!
Your trip to Liverpool must have been great!

We're planning a trip to England next summer, and Liverpool will definitely be a part of that trip!!!
It did get a little more difficult after my last post. Have a new appreciation for Ringo, as there is some more complex stuff going on in the latter songs.
Ah, Ringo. I hope more people develop an appreciation for Ringo and all that he contributed to the Beatles. He was/is an excellent drummer and was PERFECT for the Beatles, as a drummer and as a person. He was the heart of the Beatles and the last piece to complete the puzzle. The Beatles would not be the Beatles without Ringo.
I said in an earlier post that I was looking forward to the remastered CDs, and not so much the RockBand. Well, guess who has the Beatles Rockband set up in their family room tonight?!?!?

DD19 and I went to
Best Buy to get the CDs and they had the Beatles Rockband set up. We walked over to check it out, and a Best Buy employee urged us to try it out. He asked me if I wanted to sing or play an instrument, and I said neither! Not in public anyway.

My daughter gamely strapped on the guitar and the employee sat at the drums, and they played their way through Day Tripper. I was amazed watching the animation of the Beatles and listening to the music, and I was hooked. My daughter loved it, too. Sold!!!
