Who's booking the 4-night cruise Summer 08

8/24- 2 adults/2 kids , cat 6 = $3606, includes transfers and insurance

Hi Bren: It looks like we will be cruising with you on the 25th and we'll be neighbors!! We are in SPR 5022!! How old will your children be? We have two boy's who will be 5 and 3 1/2.

Booked 4 night double dip on 5/25
2 Adults/2 Kids (5 & 6)
Category 6
$3551.52 w/ins, no transfers (Includes 10% discount for rebooking onboard)

And yes, the price does seem high. As a matter of fact, it's $1000 more than the 4 night Category 4 we had booked for Sept., 2007.

It seems like there are quite a few of us on the 5/25 sailing. Has anyone started a cruise meet yet?

Wow! Their are quite a few of us on the 5/25 "double dip" Wonder! That is pretty exciting when it is sooo far in advance!! I have a dilema though...for those who have cruised Disney before may be able to help. We are not only booked on the Wonder 5/25 but we are also booked for the four night Wonder cruise in late April of 2008. The April cruise does not visit Caymen Cay twice. Is it is worth the additional $500 to take the duoble dip cruise in May? Can anyone give us some sound advice. Thanks in advance!

I just received an email from a TA that I had submitted a request to several months ago. And it came back better than the DCL quote I posted before. :) Our TA was able to get us SPH rooms 5524/5522 for a price of $3,918.15 for our family of 5. That price includes port charges/fees, but not insurance or transfers. We do receive a $50 OBC. Does anyone know if Disney Visa is offering any credit if you use your card?

Looks like we'll be cruising on May 25, 2008.:cool1: I am so excited. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Good luck to everyone else. And I look forward to seeing who we'll be cruising with. I just need to make sure I get that deposit in quickly!!!!

We have the same rooms in June! :cool1: The rate is much better in May than June. :sad2:

Yes it is rather disappointing that DCL essentially mandates that you have to take your kids out of school to secure a more reasonable rate. I can understand the premium for Christmas & Easter breaks but there are a lot of families that can only vacation during the summer. DCL of course is not the only destination/company that does this but the 2008 summer rates are out of control.

Ummm...it's supply and demand. people are willing (and even excited) to pay more than double what other cruiselines charge. Disney might be for families, but they aren't going to give us good rates just because they are nice. lol

Detroitdad,

I sent you a pm... Have you forgotten us already??:sad1: It has been almost a year.

We, too, booked the triple dip cruise.

Back-to-back Wonder August 17 4-night and August 21st 3-night.

I don't have the price details yet to post.

Hey, we need to come up with some kind of catchy slogan for the triple dip. Because not only is this a 3 times at Castaway Cay but its also TWO pirate nights.

So its a back-to-back with Captain Jack. Hmmmm I'm sure we can come up with all kinds of raunchy titles.

I am so excited to be meeting people who will be on the same cruise and I haven't even paid my deposit yet. I'll be doing that tomorrow.

We have 3 children, who will be 7ds, 7dd, and 12ds (yikes) at cruise time. I see that someone else posted that will be on the May 25 cruise.

Can't wait to meet everyone.:thumbsup2

It looks like we are also on the same cruise. :) This will be our first Disney Cruise (dh and I cruised once on Carnival about 8 years ago). I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for everyone. Can't wait to see how many of us on the Dis boards will be on this cruise. :cool1:

Ummm...Really? Thanks for the economics lesson ;) No kidding! If other people are willing to pay these prices that's fine. I personally am not. I may not get the same cruise experience but I may be pleasantly surprised. I'll let you know :) But I have to at least try another cruise line, especially when I am looking at saving $1000's. It will be a different cruise experience and I'm OK with that. Doesn't mean I still won't support Disney. I'm content to go to the parks to experience the magic. DCL can and will continue to up their prices and there of course will always be people who are going to fill up the ships. I just won't be one of them. I was OK with paying for the Disney cruise experience for the 7-day, but not when a 4-day is costing me more than the 7-day did for Feb 2006.

After 7 cruises with Disney & the 8th one approaching in May, we're leaving cruising with Disney. I'm a BIG Disney person, but next year for us is a big disappointment. Not interested in the Magic's cruises for next summer (the expense & the time off from work) & not interested in the Wonder's schedule for next summer either. Where I love Castaway Cay, I don't want to port there twice in one cruise with no sea days...just love those sea days. My husband & myself are very interested in going on a cruise that stops at Jamacia. So I've been checking into RCCL & that's probably what we do next year. Disney's cruise pricing has gone crazy, & as I know that there's nothing like a cruise on a Disney ship, I'm not willing to go with them anymore. I never thought I would feel this way being I've been such a strong PR person for Disney cruises since 2000. Just can't justify the price anymore, & they don't have the cruises that I'm interested in. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth on my disappointment:guilty: I feel that I'm going to be pleasantly surprised in cruising with RCCL.

As son as I get a chance I plan to put up a new ticker..."Castaway Cay X 3". :goodvibes

Often, it's false supply and demand. DCL whips everyone into a frenzy with it's failure to release prices until a certain day, all the while making sure it's hyped to the hilt. Then the day comes and everyone books and double books and triple books, then sleeps on it, and realizes they shouldn't pay more for a 7 day or 15 day cruise than their mortgage costs them in a year.

So they cancel, but the booking prices stay high because of the earlier day's frenzy, leaving them with spots to fill.

DCL has done this time and again. That's why FL residents and Cast Members often get such good rates. They've left empty places on their boats by their outrageous pricing structure, which for some reason they feel compelled to offer like an IPO instead of vacation.
