Who's been to VWL lately? Wondering about construction.

What room number was this? And is this a standard room? Thanks...staying in February and wondering what I should request...thanks!

Are you staying in the hotel or the villas? The room posted is in the hotel side.

Can't speak for VWL as I've yet to stay in them. But for a WL standard at the price I got, I was quite pleased.

We're just clarifying because this post is on the DVC boards so usually talking about the villas when talking about the rooms vs the hotel rooms at WL. Someone not real familiar wouldn't realize that was in the hotel side.

Thanks everyone for your input and the photos are impressive. The cabins look big - is square footage the same as the poly bungalows? I think I'll just wait until the construction is done. I'm a lover of peace and quiet when back at the resorts, a quiet pool enjoyer for sure. This one does look to be unique. I am a sucker for any new villas or rooms at Disney too. And new DCL ships. At least they keep giving me reasons to keep my membership!

Anyone find it funny that the artist's rendering even includes the look of wet pavement around the pool edge?

The look similar in size to the PVB bungalows. But we haven't seen the drawings yet as they have not been filed with the Orange County Controller, so no actual footage has been determined.

I'm staying the lodge...I knew the photo was from the lodge. Villas look out on Bay Lake/cabin construction or parking/trees, but for the view, the room has to face the CAR and MK, which the villas do not.

Oops I apologize. I just saw someone mentioning construction and noise at that resort so I posted photos from our recent trip at WL. I will point that out in my initial post.

I'm tempted to book for this summer. We have a stay at the BCV booked from July 29 - Aug 4, but VWL is our favorite. I'm looking for speculation here since I know no one knows for sure. Do you think the construction will be completed?

I don't think so, personally. I'm basing my pessimism on the timeline for the Poly Oasis Pool.

A further, um, complication (?) may have arisen based on posts from the main WL thread. It seems a number of folks are getting emails from Disney saying that beginning some time in mid-Feb, both Roaring Fork and Trout Pass will be down for refurbishment. The alternative? The new Geyser Point restaurant which is supposed to be open. If this is true, then such action may be an argument for or against staying at WL depending on one's views toward construction. . .

Hey all.....we have a stay booked for Boulder Ridge aka VWL beginning March 5th. Just received an email telling us that Geyser Point Pool Bar & Grill will be open for our stay, however, Roaring Forks and Trout Pass Pool Bar will be closed for renovations. The email goes on to state there is continuing construction onsite during daytime hours beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pretty much that's all......but, I'm guessing the new Copper Creek Villas which are in the WL south (?) wing will be announced within the next few months.....just my guess....but, I'm thinking for availability either late summer or early fall....especially if they work availability like they have in the past for new resorts....releasing only so many rooms at a time.

Can anyone give a personal account of how the atmosphere is at VWL with the construction well underway? Is there a lot of noise? Is there a lot of the premises fenced off? I was considering a stay here in May but was thinking back to how unhappy a lot of posts were from folks at Poly during the construction there.

Anyone have pictures they can share? Can you see the new pool yet?

Delete. Just noticed the email had already been mentioned. Sorry.

Any thoughts on a mid Oct stay? Should most of the construction be done by then? TIA!

Based on what we now have heard about the opening of the restaurant next month, and Disney's announcement that CCV will go on sale sometime this year, I think most of the construction should be pretty far along by October. I would go ahead and book it (if you're a VWL owner) and then take a look at the 7 month window in March to see what the progress looks like then. If it doesn't look good, you can always try to switch the reservation to another location though F&W Festival timing is a very popular one for DVC members. Regardless of your concerns, I'd definitely book your dates ASAP at your home resort (assuming it is at WDW) since we are well within the 11 month window at this point. Good luck! :)
