Who's been to VWL lately? Wondering about construction.

I would be more optimistic about October than summer, particularly when the pool open is "summer." Poly pool seemed to take a while, and it was a much simpler theming.

Based on what we now have heard about the opening of the restaurant next month, and Disney's announcement that CCV will go on sale sometime this year, I think most of the construction should be pretty far along by October. I would go ahead and book it (if you're a VWL owner) and then take a look at the 7 month window in March to see what the progress looks like then. If it doesn't look good, you can always try to switch the reservation to another location though F&W Festival timing is a very popular one for DVC members. Regardless of your concerns, I'd definitely book your dates ASAP at your home resort (assuming it is at WDW) since we are well within the 11 month window at this point. Good luck! :)

Thanks for both of your replies! I don't own at VWL (BCV is my home resort), but I'm thinking about renting points to stay there. We need a studio that holds 5 and it's cheaper than Poly and still has availability, at least for now.

I have a different opinion. Even a DVC vacation costs mucho money and I want the best experience possible. Half of the main lodge rooms and elevators are closed off, cabins are being built at the waters edge along with a restaurant and new pool. The boulders around the new pool are currently being built and most of the construction areas are blocked off with a fence. I would prefer to wait and visit the resort after construction is completed, grounds are replanted, both pools working, maybe stay in a new room, and eat at the new restaurant.

I couldn't agree more. I know every trip is " magical" but I want it to be particularly good for what we spend, and nothing to steal my pixie dust ! We have VLW slotted in pencil right now for May 2018 ! Hopefully we can ink that in soon....

We're seriously considering booking soon for a New Years Eve visit. I'm homesick for VWL and am hoping construction will be done by then.

I just booked the week between xmas and New Years today! What are the chances construction will be complete?

Following, as we are booked in May at the Villas for last minute trip (only resort available for our dates) - can someone verify that the boats are still running between Wilderness Lodge and MK? And the two full-service restaurants are Open? TIA

Yes and yes. The boats have not stopped running at all due to the construction. Meanwhile, both WCC and AP have been and will be open barring any last-minute decision to renovate one or the other. We'll also be there in May and have our reservations for AP per usual: early, by a window, and with a bottle of nice red. ;)

I'm tempted to book for this summer. We have a stay at the BCV booked from July 29 - Aug 4, but VWL is our favorite. I'm looking for speculation here since I know no one knows for sure. Do you think the construction will be completed?

That's funny you say this be those are the exact dates we're going this summer and we're staying at VWL and on a WL for BCV.
