hi all:wave:
i'd love to hear your stories on this event::yes:: we are thinking of doing this when we are at the world, the only problem i have is that my eldest son won't dress up but the youngest will and i'm not too sure dh will want to dress up either:rolleyes: will we look like to odd ones out:D
thanks in advance:D

Hi

We did MNSSHP in Oct 2003 and had a great time.

There were 11 of us in total 6 adults, and 5 children ( 7 - 15 ), 4 adults and 4 children dressed up and 2 adults and 1 child did not dress up. None of us were out of place! There are lots of families etc who put a huge amount of effort into their costumes etc and others just put on a wig or a hat - it doesn't matter if you're in fancy dress or not.

We're hoping to go again in Oct this year as everyone really enjoyed it especially doing the rides at night and in the dark.

Hi

We're arriving on Friday 8th Oct and leaving on Sat 23rd Oct, flying Glasgow to Orlando via Newark. There'll be 9 of us this year 4 adults and 5 children (8 - 17). What are your dates? Do they overlap?

We're also hoping to book an illuminations cruise I was successful last year and it was really great and my DS who was 7 at the time got to 'drive' the boat.

Only 8 LONG months to go!!!!!!

Hi Eve

My 2nd DD will be 15 on the 18th and my anniversary 23rd is on the 8th so there's going to be a lot of celebrating between us!!!! as if we need an excuse to enjoy Florida even more!!

We've been the last two years and it's fantastic. First year DD dressed up as a 50s diner style waitress, courtesy of WalMart ($15 - dress, petticoats, hat and pinny - amazing value); DH went as a ghoul by using face make up (it was horrible - all the CMs thought he looked great:eek: ). I didn't want to dress up but when we got in the parks I bought a neon-pink flashing set of fluffy Mickey head bands - it was hilarious at first in POC with pink flashing lighting, until I realised it was me and turned them off :earseek:

Last year DD went as Cleopatra (another WalMart fantastic costume at $20), DH was one of the many ER doctors (but he looked the best:p ) and I was going to go as a greek goddess, but I was being pushed around in a wheelchair due to broken toes and the dress was a bit revealing up the top . . . so I was very boring again and bought this brilliant Halloween batty t-shirt which I wore, with matching earrings and trick or treat bag.

Many people don't dress up - it's not an issue. I think there were definitely more people dressed up last year, though, I reckon about 50% dressed up.

Get one of the free photos done, we did it right at the end of the evening when they were closing as all the lines were gone by then.

We entered early, about 5pm, and were asked to congregate over in Tomorrowland. So we got to ride Space Mountain with no queues - and all the other rides over there.

Last year was definitely much busier than 2002, but it's still a lot more manageable than doing MK during the day for us.

We were staying at the Poly so it was cool to ride the monorail with other people going for MNSSHP, there's a kind of camerarderie if you're dressed for it.

It's a great evening:teeth:

This is great fun, we’ve done it twice now and I would definitely recommend it. You don’t have to dress up but you wouldn’t look out of place whether you did or not. We did and we too bought our costumes out of Walmarts, they were cheap and cheerful but it was good fun.

It was GREAT!!! It is our favorite---we have been twice, and are planning to go again, sometime. I agree that about half of the people dress up ( both adults and kids ) , it doesn't matter---no one will feel out of place no matter what they decide to do. I personally think it is more fun if you dress up, just because I think costumes are fun anytime. One word of caution though, if you plan on riding rides, make sure you wear a costume
that is ride-friendly-----that it won't get ruined, blown off, is easy to maneuver in when getting on and off rides, etc---just something to consider.

Just a personal favorite-----I think it is really neat when the whole group dresses up with a central theme, such as the Toy Story characters, or Snow White and the 7 Dwarves, the Dalmations, etc.

hi:wave:
it sounds like you all had a blast::yes:: thank you for telling what you dressed up as, i need to start planning on what my youngest ds wants to be(not sure about the rest of us we'll have to see how it goes)

helen

we are going in Oct as well - fly out on the 10th Oct with Virgin. I would love to do mnsshp, but I think our 2 will be to small (3+ and 18months)

Maybe see you there??

N

We'll be there also, I'm already planning the costumes!!! LOL I've never been to it before so found this thread really interesting.

Natty, my youngest will be 22 months, I think your 2 would love it :)

Hi

We have always bought the childrens halloween outfits from Walmart and brought them home for them to wear here - there is sooooo much choice etc and really good prices.

We're planning on doing MNSSHP again this year and will wait till we arrive and then decide on our costumes according to the choice of outfits in Walmart.

We've done it and had great fun. The gals dressed up - we were route marched round Walmart to get them what they wanted, and I contented myself with haloween earrings! Some people made a huge effort and some just came as they were!

It's a magical evening and some of the characters are all dressed up as well. We have lovely pics of the gals with Pooh & friends in full gear! Also you can have a family photograph sent to you even in the UK and what with the trick or treating good all round entertainment. Sadly night we were there was somewhat wet so we very much appreciated the hot chocolate and cookies. When we went to the Christmas Party the following year it was too hot to drink it!
