I know that Fairykin's DH is going to one of the cooking school days. Who else has signed up for the F&W Festival special events????

Let me know which events you're going to and I'll keep a running list so we know to look for each other!

I am not going- no Disney trips coming up :sad2:. But I just wanted to butt in and ask you to do a review or post some pictures after you go. The Sweet Sundays events sound so cool and I am totally jealous that you are going to so many- I would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi-don't post much but thought I should start being more sociable!

My boyfriend and I are attending the Introduction to Wine Tasting on May 9th

We usually pick the wine based on "does it look good? ok just grab it" lol, figured no better place to get educated than at the DL resort :goodvibes

Well we are going this weekend but we have nothing planned at this time. So I don't know......LOL We will also be there Mem. weekend but again nothing planned....LOL We are slackers. hehe

Looking forward to the following:

May 1 - Winemaker Dinner, MacMurray Ranch
May 27 - World Celebration Dinner; Celebrate Italy
June 6 - Taste

We will be there May 27-31 but decided just to wing it instead of booking any of the functions.

hey--we'll be at the same dinner--kewl!

I'll be there off and on during the weekends. I can't get to most of the pay events, due to being on call for work. That would stink to miss one for that.

We are there this Sunday, but no definite plans. Maybe Junior Chef for Zoe. We want to do a wine walk. I'll have my DIS Correspondent shirt on.

I met a lady who is doing many of the paid events and she loved the free wine tasting from Arrowood Winery. The woman was really into wine and food as were several other ladies with us in line and they talked for a while on Arrowood winery which was very interesting.

The Robert Irvine free show was very informative and gluten free. I realized that though I cannot bake and do much cooking there are worse off. A guest on stage could not cut peppers, burnt the peppers, could not figure how to get peppers into the pan and then burnt the empty pan.:lmao: I learned some cool stuff from him which will help me at home like I am going to try grapeseed oil and what to look for in meat to indicate I am overcooking it. Interesting fish information. I wish I could afford one event but I think I had more fun at the Irvine show than I did all day. I am definitely planning to go back when I can even with two hours on buses it is worth seeing Robert Irvine and ooh he is so handsome and muscular and funny.:thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to the festival next weekend!

I've only booked 2 events -- the 4/29 World Celebration Dinner and the 5/1 MacMurray Ranch wine dinner.

I'll be at as many freebie culinary demos that I can 4/29 - 5/3, too! :)

I was there yesterday also - Chef Robert Irvine did a great show! If anyone can make it this weekend, I highly recommend you go to see him while he's there! I think I'm going to try to go back today to see him again.

I'm not doing any other paid events, just the complimentary ones. I was laid off work 2 months ago, so I just can't justify the ridiculous prices for those dinners, much as I would have liked to do some of them. But, being out of work with an AP means I can get to a lot of the complimentary ones! I'm looking forward to them!

To bad I missed you, I was way over in the back and left side. I like Robert Irvine as he teaches you but you are laughing so it does not get boring. I am going tomorrow early and going to bring sunscreen for my nose. I asked about the gluten. I should have faked a reaction so I could get CPR from him.:thumbsup2

We've got reservations for the "Taste" on June 6. I'm so excited! I've also booked a room at the Grand. Kids are being ditched at Grandma's on the way. :cool1:

I picked up the brochure when we were there Saturday so I'm going to review and see what I might want to do when we go back for my Bday. DBF and I have decided that we are going to sit in the Cove Bar and have some lobster nachos and a drink or two and let the girls ride a few rides solo. It's hard for me to do that but I need to cut the strings and let them have fun....we will give them my phone and send them on their way. :) Should be fun for all of us. :) Unless I'm too worked up to enjoy, then we will just go meet the kids. LOL

Hope you're having a great time! We were at DCA on Saturday and had several of the special items at Cove Bar. The sliders were delish--one beef, one pork and one lobster. The nachos looked really good too.

One thing I am disappointed about is that they don't have a list of what items are available where except at the main info booth--and won't give you a copy. To me, it looks like a lot less items than last year too--in fact, the only special dish at WCT is a dessert--what's up with that?????

On a positive note--a friend want to the French dinner so I'm signing us up for that!

I was at Taste Pilot's Grill and it was a Japanese type of fish chunks in a salad. I cannot remember all that was in the salad but it was Asian style cooking. I also would love to see a list of restaurants and the special dishes instead of having to go around trying to find out what is where.

I want to try the nachos and may pop in the Cove Bar to see what the chef can do for me. My nose is peeling and I think the 3 hours or more wait to see the chefs is going to lead to sun stroke eventually. There is a way to get extra tickets for lines but not telling. Lines for Robert Irvine show led to confusion and many people who were at the head of the line suddenly at the back of the line and barely getting in. I am having fun with the free shows and it is fun despite the opening problems. I am learning so much about cooking that I never knew like I need to change the oil I use. I would love to try the Dole mango salsa on chicken thing I tried as that was yummy.

I am hoping to save up to do one event. I wanted Spain and Taste so much.

The booth as you walk in is where they have a list--they will show it to you but they won't pass it out.

Cove Bar has lobster nachos, the sliders and a couple of other things.

Award Wieners has a lobster roll.

What kind of oil are we supposed to use?

If you like mango salsa, Baja Fresh has one all the time--I love it on the mango chipotle chicken salad and use the salsa rather than salad dressing.

I have heard Taste is very chaotic--very few tables/places to sit and lots of people. Too wild for me.

We went around looking for the different special items. The hot dog place (next to Muppets) had a lobster roll sandwich. The salad at Taste Pilots Grill was a seared ahi tataki salad - sounded really good, and a decent price at $9.99. That's cheaper than you can find a similar salad at "outside" restaurants. I guess it depends on how big theirs is...
Pacific Wharf had a white cheddar cheese soup, the Mexican place there had...shoot, I don't remember, but I think it was chicken enchiladas? Something with chicken, I remember. And also a dulce de leche empanada.
The Farmer's Market place has a hummus tray with veggies and breadsticks - my friend, who is a vegetarian, had that for dinner last night and said it was very good. She appreciated having a veggie option at at least 1 place!

Hmm... that's all I can think of. We didn't go to the pizza place to see what they're offering, if anything.

We were there yesterday. It seemed pretty busy. We saw the Robert Irvine cooking demonstration and a little of Celebrate Spain. We were surprised how many people stood in line for autographs / photos with Robert.

We will probably go back for a Sweet Sunday. Yum!
