Hi fellow Disney fans!

Heading to the most magical place on earth in less than a month with my wife and 14 month old son! Just realized as I was pouring his milk for dinner that he only drinks whole milk!

We are ordering 2 quarts from we go shop to have in the hotel room, but I was hoping most ts and cs restaurants would have whole milk while in the parks. To my surprise, most of the menus on allears.net only list low fat milk! Does anyone have first hand experience with what types of milk are actually available in the parks?

Thanks in advance.

Just got back w 14 mth old, unfortunately they only had low fat at ts. However, our resort food court had whole milk & we would use that as my drink (I only drink water so I had brought a case w us) & that would get her 2 meals of whole milk per bottle of milk... Sometimes she did have low fat, but I figured for 1 or 2 times she would be ok- no problems. Enjoy your trip.

Some cs places do have whole milk but it's hard to find. The liberty inn in America in WS of EPCOT has ice cold bottles of whole milk. That was a gem when we found it.

Fantastic! Thank you. I'm sure other parents with young toddlers would love a good thread that lists locations like this that have whole milk! C'mon parents, where have you found whole milk in the parks? It's like a scavenger hunt. Although not sure I want to play it when my kid is 30 mins past milk time and screaming!

I don't have specific restaurants, but I do know that in February, we found whole milk more often than not. Yes, some QS places only had low fat, but most of them had whole as well, even if it wasn't on the menu. So you'll just have to ask.

If you don't want to take the risk, you can buy whole milk in "juice boxes" at the grocery store to bring with you. They don't need to be refrigerated because they're ultra-pasteurized. Creeps me out, IMO, but it's perfectly safe. I believe many of the brands available are even organic.

If all else fails, your little one should be fine with the occasional low fat milk for a week or so. My sister and BIL were concerned about giving my niece low fat on our last trip, but her pediatrician said it would be fine. But it's up to you, of course, I'm not trying to offer parenting advice!

Haha! Juice box milk. I know what you are talking about, and yes, creeps me out else well! Same with "meat" in a can. Just not right!

We just got back from a trip last week with our 18 month old and this was something I was worried about too. I had read that whole milk was hard to find in the parks. I had decided that if we gave our daughter whole milk in our room (we had a full kitchen at OKW) and she ended up drinking a cup of one or two percent during the day a couple of times, no harm would be done.

However, this was totally a nonissue. Every day, after she woke up from the nap she took in her stroller, I'd go to the nearest CS place and just order "milk" and every time, it was whole milk. I don't know if this was just luck or what but it was a different restaurant every time. (In fact if memory serves me, it was Starring Rolls, Pecos Bills, the place in the corner by the princess meet in Fantasy Land, Sunshine Seasons, and Yak & Yeti.) Sometimes it came in cartons and they gave us two and sometimes it was a plastic bottle with a screw on lid but each time it was whole milk. Now, we only ate at a few TS places and we usually give her water with dinner so she'll actually eat so we didn't try it at any of those.

In fact, twice during the week I was given a carton for free. I guess because I was standing there with an empty sippy cup the cashiers took pity on me but it was a touch of pixie dust both times. The only place that was weird was at the Tea Stand place at Animal Kingdom. I ordered "milk", the guy rang it up and said it was over four dollars. I kind of did a double take and asked how much milk are we talking about? He indicated that he was going to give me a large paper cup full of milk, no lid. I just cancelled the order, walked across the way to Yak & Yeti and they gave me a bottle.

This reminds me of how many things I was stewing and worrying over before we left and then they turned out to be such nonissues. Disney!

Great info! Thank you!

We are a month away and really starting to "stew" as this is our first big trip with the little man! The debate around a cooler for milk was heating up when I took it to the dis boards!

I vote we chill out and give him whole milk in the am from the room and find whatever we find in the parks. The wife wants to pack a cooler and leave it in the bottom of the stroller. I told her no guarantee the cooler is there after we step away from the stroller for a ride!

You could always pour some Half and Half into skim milk to create whole milk. If you google the it I'm sure you will find the ratios. It does not take a lot of half and half. I think whole milk is only 3-4% cream anyway.

Yeah it was our first time to Disney with a munchkin too and we were freaked out. It was so much easier than I expected though. So many things that I had worried about never even came up. And it was so fun to see the place with her. She loved it too.

Anyway we were carrying so much other crap around the parks every day that I would definitely not have wanted to add a cooler to that! I would cross the milk worry off your list.

As far as toddler dining at Disney though my best tip is to buy a couple packs of those disposable place mat things that stick to the table and a travel pack of Lysol wipes. I'm not a germaphobe but I hate seeing DD drop her food on a restaurant table or high chair and then snatch it up and eat it. Even grosser at Disney because there are so many people. Anyway at every restaurant we went in I used a Lysol wipe on the touchable parts of the high chair then stuck down a place mat to the table. It only took a few seconds and I felt so much better about her food surface. It made cleaning up after her a lot easier too.

Off topic I know but it was my best food related tip from our week!

Thanks! We use those placemats all the time when we go out to eat!

I too worried about finding whole milk when we took our then 14 month old daughter. Like you also, I looked up the places that served whole milk to try to eat there--counter service anyway. I didn't find it a problem at any of our table service restaurants. There were a couple of places that I could only find low-fat but I figured a few times out of the week for her to have it didn't harm her, especially if she got it two out of the three times the rest of the day. I think you'll find it easier than you think. You may just have to ask for it too. Good luck and have fun!
