Whoever said there are no views at VWL...

That's a great view, I wish they would harvest a few (just a select few) trees so that some of the other rooms had a view of the lake.

Actually I think it works better the way it is. If they had a clear lake view side, they would probably be beseiged by people requesting/demanding to be on that side. They would then have to create view classifications for the reservations (even if they didn't change the point schedule).

We stayed there for the first time the beginning of this month and loved it. Great views from the nature trail, and plenty of wildlife. Obviously no hunting since I saw a beautiful 8 pointer. From the looks of him they are on a different rutting schedule than up here in NE PA. If you've never taken the trail over to the campground it's a really nice walk. There are wild orange trees and the deer come up to the trail to eat the oranges.

I don't know if any of the atrium rooms are actually larger in terms of square feet (I'm guessing someone has dimensions for all the rooms and will correct me if I'm wrong ;))

OK so now another question... what is an "atrium room"? Thanks for answering my first question. I think I kinda get it - that the corner rooms would provide a bit more space. Thanks!

SleepyDog 25, do you remember your room number for a 2 BR?

Quirty 30...Thanks for sharing!!! Any 2 BR around 5519????? Hope you had a fabulous vacation!:cool1:

Thanks very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I really like that view...the woods are just what I'd expect at VWL...plus the pool which is very nice...and the corner room is a bonus :) Glad you enjoyed it!

What a great view! Thanks for sharing. I've been dying to stay at VWL (and you just stoked the fire), but, alas, 2011 is already all planned out. Maybe for 2012.

Welcome back to the Chi-town burbs. Definitely a little cooler than Disney! Hopefully it's your (and my) last snow for the season.

Give me a day or two and I'll post some interior shots of our room. Never having seen what a "regular" 1 BR villa looks like at VWL, I don't know how ours compared. But it sure felt huge to me. Kitchen was a small galley, but I don't really cook at WDW, so that didn't matter. But the living room was big; you could actually move around the room easily even with the sofa bed open. We had vaulted ceilings in the BR; even the front entry was was huge (easily could have put an aerobed there (or the Pack & Play with plenty of room to spare.) The dining area had a table and 4 chairs. It felt really spacious compared to the 1BR units I've stayed at in BWV, BCV & SSR.

I think that is a very nice view. Sure you might get an unobstructed view of the water over at BLT - but most rooms at the VWL don't get any view of the water, just trees (which is a perfectly nice view too IMO). This one has a litle bit of everything. I like it and would be happy with it myself, if we got it. Much better than a parking lot, or a dumpster, or a bus stop in my mind or any of the other less desireable views at some of the resorts.

ThanKs so much for the pictures and information. We are at VWL in October, just moved my ressie yesterday from OKW.

Is this view worth paying more for would be one question I'd ask.

Love it! We had a corner room at VWL last Sept and I loved watching the activity down below.

If you are talking points, yes, for us it would be. That would mean that other villas without any view would be less points. It would also mean that owners at VWL would have a choice of either paying more points and having a view or less points and no view before everyone, like at AKV, SSR, BLT and BWV.:thumbsup2

If I had booked something characterized specifically as a lake view, then yes, I think I'd have been disappointed. Would I pay a few extra points each night to be guaranteed a view like this over say, a parking lot, dumpster, or bus stop? Yes. Hypothetically, VWL could offer a standard view or a woods view and some people would be willing to pay a premium for the woods views. The slice of lake view would just be a bonus.

The only resort I've ever booked a specific view for is BLT; we've done the lake view twice now and I've found that the water views are abundant; I mean, you are right on the lake. Love that I can look left from some of the lake view rooms there and get the bonus of fireworks (without the parking lot!) That being said, this July, I opted for standard view there. And at most resorts that offer a view, that's what I go for if it's available. We still spend a lot of time at the parks and at the end of the day, I'm not in my room long enough to really worry about the view. There will come a day when the parks are less of a focus for us, and then, the views at our resort will matter more.

I think that ultimately the point of my post was that for a resort that I've seen so many reports of "no views" that there are, indeed, some nice ones. I think the fact that I didn't make a room request and expected, well, nothing, made the view all the more a very pleasant surprise.

P.S. I will book Savannah Views at AKL, but only for DD. And I wouldn't do it for a whole week. But for a couple of days, sure. Gotta please the kiddos. After all, DD, was the one who wanted to stay at VWL, and I'm so glad she talked me into it. Much to my surprise, I loved the resort, even with the rustic decor in the rooms (I'm much happier with clean, simple, contemporary style.) My favorite aspect of the resort...the boat transportation. I swear I'd have been happy just riding back and forth some days and evenings for an hour or two. Would they let me do that?

If that view is worth 20% more points to you, that's fine. Realize that the lower points for other rooms would be almost negligible for VWL so in effect you'd be talking an increase for may 5-10% of the rooms with no real lowering of the rest. Of course this would be difficult to do and balance at SSR. Even if they just kept the rooms the same and made it a booking category, that serve the same purpose. I guess my point ultimately is that my standards are higher than that when I'm paying for view but I do realize the dichotomy in the timeshare world where view is often a location rather than an actual view from a given room.

Here is the floor plan of the 'corner room'...

Well, I guess we have some pretty low standards!:lmao:

I would pay extra for a view because we have received a villa at VWL that had what I would consider a lousy location/view. If I could have paid a few points extra for the view that the OP had, I would have gladly.

Maybe. It seems your comparing from the worst to the best view there. I'd personally compare to the view from the average room, not the worst. If I'm going to pay for view, I want a clear benefit in doing so and I do not see it at VWL.

And I, for one, am glad you don't. . .better chance for the rest of us. ;)

don't get too excited as with the current set up I can exchange in and have just as good a chance getting the best views as any member using points.
