We just got a reminder about our flight this Friday with our seats and I saw part of our flight is on quite a small plane!

Canadian Regional with only 13 rows of four!!!!!! OK.....my palms are sweating a bit!

Then the second part of the flight is about 47 rows with seven people in each row!

Oh my........

You'll be fine . . .

(I was in a 6 seater -- and that's being generous -- Piper Cherokee two months ago  )

Small planes really aren't that much different than big ones.

DH has flown in those puddle jumpers and thought they were fun. I've only been on big planes.

i was once on a small plane of about 10 rows of 2 people each and it was horrible. not because of the plane itself but because some girl threw up. since the cabin was so small, it was grosser than normal.

I think/hope it is a jet...not a prop plane. I don't think Delta would stick us on a puddle jumper from Harrisburg to Atlanta...at least I hope not. But you are right diane.....I'm sure both flights will be very similar.

Oh well......what can I do?

I can hear my DH now......it's just something else for me to worry about! ;) ;)

oh spago..I bet that was gross! I remember I was on a small plane with the propellers about 12 years ago, with my 2 year old and 1 year old (was I nuts?). The oldest DS had a hot dog and the flight attendent told me he should get rid of it. I thought it was because food was not allowed on the plane. She said no, it will be a rough ride!!!!
Talk about a reassuring flight attendent!!!!!! :jester: :jester:

Don't worry Karen, you'll be fine. The smallest plane I was on for commercial flying was a 19 seater. Those are nice and tiny. I am sure yours will be just fine and hopefully it will be one of those tiny jets... those are nice :)

LOL, SPAGo . . .

May have been my sis.

When she was in medical school (yes, she's a doc too), she did a summer rotation with an orthopedic surgeon. Well, after they finished their cases for the day, they decided to go out in the surgeon's private plane for a ride.

Sis has very bad motion sickness, and they went out right after lunch.

There they were, up in the plane, enjoying an absolutely gorgeous summer day, when sis, riding in the back, starts to not feel good. Bright girl that she is, she decides to LEAN FORWARD and tell the pilot/surgeon that she needs a barf bag.

TOO LATE . . .

As she lean toward the front, she could no longer hold her lunch, and, well, her gastric contents were violently spewed all over the inside of the plane's windshield . . .

I don't think that doctor ever invited her up in his plane again . . .

actually Deb .. i was flying to iowa! i think it was kansas city to cedar rapids on this dinky little toy plane.

HI Karen,

DD and I were on 3 different types Of smaller planes this past April.
You'll be fine.

Two things I would suggest. You should be able to find out what type of plane/seating capacity from the Delta website.

We were on NW planes, and the smallest plane was a 30 seater propeller. It was actually fun. Also, is LITTLE room in the overheads and under the seat. The bigger carryons had to go in the luggage area of the plane, wouldn't fit in the overhead bins.

Have fun,

We're heading down on Jan. 2.

Herc..

I was once on a small plane and didn't care for it at all. And I didn't know we were taking a small one until we boarded! We flew from NJ to Atlanta on a regular plane, but then from Atlanta to Chatanooga on a little one! :(

If it's a tiny jet, it shouldn't be too bad. You won't have drink service or anything, but the flight will be somewhat similar to a regular flight.

If it's a prop plane, take Dramamine. And maybe a tranquilizer if you're so inclined. :)

I prefer small to large. More options IMHO.
These regional jets are the future of public
transportation.

Don't worry...CRJ's are great!!!!! Just smaller than the usual jet but still very smooth (they are NOT prop planes but Jet engines). The only thing I would worry about is whether my carry on luggage will fit or not since the space is smaller than bigger jets. Really, I promise!!!! :D

UGH!!! We flew from Amarillo, Tx to Dallas, Tx in one of the little puddle jumpers that held maybe 15 people total. It was a prop plane and had me set against flying for life. (This was only the 2nd time I've flown!) Then in Dallas we got a good size jet to Minneapolis. That flight was a lot better. Maybe we'll have to drive to Dallas next time. :D  ;)
