if you had an idea for a ride?

I know there are people who are paid good money by disney to come up with ideas for everything from dustbins to park rides, but surely customers have come up with basic ideas in the past which have been improved upon and followed through?

Im not saying i'm going to put anything forward before anybody shoots me down!?

You really can't do anything, unless of course you want to get into a career or designing rides for either Disney or another company. If they took you idea and used it, they would have to pay you and that probably wouldn't happen.

wow - i'm surprised at that - but I guess, as I said in my op thats what they pay imagineers for.

Why wouldnt that happen (apart from having a basic rule "no ideas from outsiders" of course) with the Signing of an agreement you will not seek further payment / recognition for the idea I dont see why they say no outright.

there are brilliant minds out there passing through their parks everyday - its a shame really, but i'm sure they have valid reasons

They don't accept 'unsolicited ideas' because then they wont get into a lot of legal hot water. You may send them an idea, which they disregard, but think of something similar 10 years later which you could then claim as your idea and claim rights. Disney just has a blanket policy of not accepting outside ideas that aren't paid for.

However, even if you work as a CM in the park, any ideas you have about the business are property of Disney if you think of them whilst employed by them. Weird little thing in the employment contract.

If you send an idea, you'll get a form letter from the lawyers saying that they can't even look at it. This is so that if someone sues them and says that the "Expedition Everest" idea was really theirs and Disney should pay them for it, Disney can say, "Oh, like hell it was. We don't even LOOK at outside ideas" and get the lawsuit dismissed.

But you could tell us!!!!

ha ha ha - I dont have that good an imagination. I just made a comment to my b/f last night about a ride in china/epcot and it got us talking for a little while. I just wondered what normal people have had their 5 minutes of fame by doing this sort of thing .... NOBODY unless your on the disney payrole
