A couple of them are getting dated and need some upgrading. The monorail resorts are unique and ned to stay that way.
This is a great point, after Eagle Pines to take care of people disiring a great 1st class golf location resort, I think it is time to stop building DVC resorts, until another park is built. Then a resort could be built specific to the new park.Disney is quickly becoming "Time Share Central".

The Grand Floridian is beautiful, I've stayed there before on my honeymoon. While it does have proximity to MK which is great when you have kids, it doesn't have great proximity to the other parks and evening activities that we enjoy. It's nice they added the new zero entry pool and slide, and it's nice to hang out on the beach. However, I prefer the Epcot Resort area for it's evening proximity to Epcot dining, and activities around Crecent Lake. I guess I also think that being on the monorail line is over rated. I find the Crecent Lake boats preferable, more leasurely, fun to be on the water, etc. for park transportation. The GF is definitely the best resort on the monorail line today, your point about the other two 70's resorts does have some merit, they are dated. I think the Wilderness Lodge is better than the poly or contemporary. But it's nice to have options and to try different resorts out. We don't see ourselves shelling out the high point values for Poly or Contemporary, but would consider the Grand Floridian. But it doesn't make sense to shell out such high points for a hotel you find less desirable than YC, BC and BCV. Might as well stay where you enjoy.I guess some people think that places like the Grand Floridian are just a little too nice for themselves.
Although a DVC resort at Discovery Island is a very appealing idea, I believe it's unrealistic in terms of construction costs and ongoing costs. It would cost substantially more to build than a resort on land because all construction materials, equipment, and workers would need to be loaded and unloaded from barges. And the resort would need its own, dedicated fire station and emergency services.Originally posted by BCVOwner2002
No GF for me but would love to see something at Discovery Island. We always enjoyed going there.
