In light of what seems to be tips being cut out of the ddp, I wanted to know how many people will no longer continue to use the ddp. I loved it myself, but disney made some mistakes. First I recieved a phone call and was flat out lied to when asked about the tips. Second they are still planning on raising the price and taking out tips. How much money do they feel they need to profit? I might start turning my interest to other Orlando attractions.

So back to the point, who is going to stop using ddp?

We planned on doing DDP for the 1st time this January. If tips are excluded we will have to take a look at it again. If tips are gone and the price goes up as well, then we will not use it. It will no longer be cost effective :sad2:

When this was first rumored a few weeks back, I sat down and worked with some numbers. I calculated things several ways. When all was said and done, using the DDP still put us out ahead, even with the tip being extra.

So, yeah, we'll continue to use it. I'll just have to budget tip money into the trip now. I don't like it and will probably write a letter of complaint to Disney. But I like the DDP.

It is hard to decide this based on tips alone. Let me know exactly how much the plan is going to cost, then I can make a reasonable decision.

I was gonna do this poll (with a few more choices) :goodvibes ... if and I will continue to say if untill I see the official 2008 DDP info from Disney, if they raise the prices and take out grats I will not do it. It is not realisticly in my budget to go to TS places on the ddp and pay tips on top of that. I'd probably just pay oop and go to nothing but CS... lots of hamburgers and fries, which means I wouldn't take a long trip (I dont want grease on top of grease for a week.. EWWW) So they will lose out in the end when people take shorter vacations, bring more food with them, buy only at CS, and use more of those cheapo tricks like splitting a double burger. I can't see this making them money!

By the way one person suggested a completly stupid cost of 20-25 bucks for the kids ddp... that alone would immediatly kill the plan for me and many others.

I can't vote on this yet until I get an official word from Disney. As long as it's cost effective - if I save more than I would OOP, and the restaurant lineup is still agreeable - count me in.

I can go back to cooking some meals in the villa, eating off site and visiting other Orlando attractions. I like the DDP as it is now, and wouldn't object to a nominal increase in price, but with it I feel more locked to WDW--this will give me back my freedom to leave WDW and do other things. I will not pay more for less.

I agree.

I like the healthy options, but there isn't nearly enough variety in the kids plan. I find both CS and TS limiting, but as I am presently only paying around $11 for it, we can cope with it. Kids Pick menus are around $8 for the TS places, adding in a snack at $4 and then a CS too, you are only just about hitting the $20 mark. So the kids plan presently is very good value for money, just a bit short on variety. Personally I don't think it's worth what they charge for it OOP, hence the great value of DDP. Maybe by putting up the prices they will also be able to add to the variety.

We have always come out on top with the plan, even before tipping, so although my initial reaction is to say I would be less inclined to use it, I would probably have to work it out some more.

I can't see Disney lowering the price of the plan. I'll wind up tipping $5-$10 per day, probably close to $10.

The plan won't be worth it to me if the price goes up that much.

We don't know -- officially -- how much a price increase will be, if any.

If the automatic 18% DDP tip and was taken out of the union contract and agreed to by the majority of union members, I'll take that as the Disney union overall being happy and go about my way.

If they increase the DDP price to the point that it no longer makes sense to buy DDP, then people will quit buying it. No one is FORCED to eat CS/TS onsite. That's why people eat/stay offsite, eat in their rooms, bring snacks into the park, etc.

I wonder how they would do this. Would you get a bill for just 18%?

So for a $35 bill paid with the DDP, would you give them your card to pay the $35 meal total and then you get a bill for $6.30?

How is it currently done OOP? Does the bill include an automatic tip now? (I never paid attention to the one breakfast we did oop)

We will probably not even be staying on Disney property!! Windsor Hills here we come, October 2008!!!

Good point, DME and DDP motivated me to stay at WDW hotels. Without the dining plan I'm more likely to consider off site properties or non-Disney on site properties (S/D).

When I priced it out when the rumors started, it was only $100 more to stay at the S/D (using a discount) vs POFQ with DDP including a car fare to take us to and from the airport and all food.

Now I've been offered a room using my best friends CM discount... so we will use that for WL instead :rotfl2:

But yep, just the rumor of having a change to the DDP turned me to look at other options- interesting isn't it :goodvibes

We've used it twice, but won't use it on our next trip. However, it has nothing to do with tips being excluded. We want more flexibility than the plan can offer: fewer TS meals. I do like an occasional sit down meal, but one every single day or night was way too confining for my family.

We'll only utilize the DDP if we can get it for free again, especially now with the tip situation. It doesn't really save us any money, since we don't typically eat like pigs.

I have to vote, so it would be NO. The whole point is for it to be paid for before I go, no money needed, no hassle for me!

If the price does not reflect a reasonable adjust ment for having to now pay our tips and the inconvience of having cash on us then we will forgo the ddp and use our AAA discount. We will still have a Table service a day though.
