I need you to settle an argument my family is having. We have different memories of what the crowds were like.
Tell me what you remember - was it packed? like sardine where no one could move or was it empty?

And is there a way to find out what the "actual" numbers were? YOu know compared to other T'giving weekends? I'd love to have the real figures to present....of course I think I'm right on this!

I wasn't there, but I remember reading that the parks were not crowded because it was close to 9/11/01, and no one was traveling. Whether that was specific to Thanksgiving Day, I don't know. Maybe you could see if there are archives here at the DIS that go back that far. Otherwise, I hope you will get answers from the experts.

We were there and had Thanksgiving Dinner at the LTT. I don't remember much about the crowds, but they couldn't have been too bad, because I would remember that!

We went thanksgiving 2003.......

It was wall to wall people that day and pretty crowded after like Wednesday that week....

We waited over an hour in line for Haunted mansion (then couldn't wait any longer because of ADR)...

It was EMPTY!! We walked on everything...... It seemed a bit strange to walk down Mainstreet USA with hardly anyone there.I had booked that trime cause it was supposed to be less crowded. Although I did not expect it too be that empty.

911 put a damper on that whole year. I don't think I remember people talking about crowds that Thanksgiving. I had kept a close eye on the boards since we were leaving that next week. :teeth:

Hope this helps! :wizard:

Yup,
It was very much an empty park that day. We almost didn't go thinking it would be bad, but were pleasantly surprised..

We went Thanksgiving week 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. I remember the crowds were virtually non-existant in 2001 until Wednesday and they were pretty monstrous the rest of the weekend.

The three years since then have proven to be much more busy weeks for the entire week starting on Monday. We have now decided to go a different week this year.

Keep in mind though..... We had NO PROBLEM doing everything we wanted in ANY of the years by 1) arriving early 2) using fast pass when necessary and 3) going to the appropriate parks on the appropriate days.

OK so far I'm winning this squabble! As long as I could find a way to prove it with actauly numbers!
I KNEW I was right-my memoreis were right that it was empty! I can remember myself being afraid to be in a place like WDW thinking it would be targeted @ a holiday time....& then seeing how empty it was....

BUT MY father & brother swear that it was crowded (we were all amazingly on the same trip! :earseek: ) like sardines & you waited hours for things.....I've NEVER been to WDW & waited more than 40mins for anything (we go off season, obviously) so I'd certainly remember!

NOW---of y'all could help me figure out how to find some actual #'s out there....
