I AM STUCK! I could really use some help from crafy minds!!

Okay here's what I have so far. For our wedding we are doing a "Disney Wishes" theme. I bought snowglobes to represent a different movie for each table. To fit the theme, I want to somehow represent each character's "wish" as part of the centerpiece.

So here's what I have so far. My friend and I went to Michaels the other day trying to figure out something to actually put the snowglobes on but couldn't really decide on something because all the snowglobes' bases are different shapes and sizes. After walking around for a while, we started noticing all the empty boxes. They must have just gotten in a shipment and were stocking the shelves and that was the solution to our problem! So we asked if we could take some and they said yes! Now we just have to match the snowglobe with the right box. The plan from there is to wrap the boxes in some sort of white craft paper for the snowglobe to sit on. Then I want to have some tulle around the base, sort of in a cloud-like fashion. We also bought star garland to put around the tulle and found wide white ribbon on clearance with the leftover Christmas stuff...

Now here is where I'm stuck!!
I want to somehow "write" the wish ON the white ribbon and have it wrap loosely around the base. (ex. Pinocchio's globe would say "I wish someday I could be a real boy.") But I can't for the life of me figure out the best way to do it. I'm not sure I want to (or even CAN) write on the actual ribbon itself. I thought of printing out each word on transparent paper and somehow adhering it to the ribbon but I just don't know.. ANY IDEAS????!?!??!?

If you get a flat ribbon that is wide enough you should be able to adhere it temporarily to a piece of paper and send it through a printer on transparency settings and get it printed that way.

Steps:
1. Type what you want it to say.
2. Send paper through the printer.
3. Attach the ribbon to the right part of the printer (right over the writing. Make sure to put down the edges carefully so they don't come off in the printer.
4. Send paper through the printer in the same way you just did.
5. Take your ribbon off the paper- should be printed on.

You could also print on transparent paper (vellum would be easiest) and then use a xyron sticker maker. You would cut down the vellum to the size you want and then run it through a xyron machine (they come in widths from 1.5 inches to 9 inches depending on what you want).

what kind of ribbon is it?

I don't see why you couldn't write on it but some inks will bleed on some ribbons.

It's pretty porous and has a design on it. I could try it but I'm pretty sure it would bleed.

If it is pretty porpous then you should do the vellum printing and attach with a xyron machine, the printer ink won't work well on it.

I have no idea what a xyron machine is. :confused3 Can someone explain exactly how it would work?

I have to agree with Rebecca on that one. Print the vellum, run it through the sticker maker and adhere. You won't see the edge of the vellum on the white ribbon. Just make sure the ink is really dry so it won't smudge. I set my printer setting to Transparency to get as little ink as possible on the paper.

make sure you check Michael's and ACMoore when they are on sale or coupons. They are sometimes 40 - 50 % off.

I actually have a 40% off coupon! Thanks! And without me even knowing it...I have vellum! Just didn't know that's what it's called!!

Could you do a shirt transfer and iron it on? maybe?:confused3

I might have to do some craft and try this for myself:thumbsup2 ::yes:: :scratchin

Okay, I am going to practice today. I have vellum, I bought spray on glue, practice ribbon, puff paint and I found a xryon machine at walmart for $20. So I'm all prepared for a crafty day of trials (and I'm sure errors). I will take pics and let you know how it all comes out. Thanks again for all of your help!

I am so excited! I just got home from my friend's house, where we decided to try out a centerpiece. We very quickly figured out the best way to do everything and put it all together and I am so happy with the results!!

I brought over three globes, the biggest, the smallest and the one I had been writing the wish for in puff paint, just in case we decided to use it. (We did not. Puff paint was too messy and my hand is not that steady!)

So first we had to pick the right box for each globe. We started with Peter Pan and wrapped the box in white craft paper. I don't know how to work tulle but apparently there really IS not right way to work tulle. I grabbed the blue and Jill grabbed the white and we sort of just threw it on and around the box.

We put the globe on and it looked great!!

Now for the part I was worried about - getting words onto ribbon and having it look nice. Puff paint was out of the question so I went with the idea from some Disers to print on Vellum. We picked the font, picked the size, printed and it looked great. I used a crafy scissor to cut a nice edge and ran it through my new favorite thing, the xyron machine!! Worked perfectly!! I was able to stick the printed words right onto the ribbon. THANKS to all who suggested it!

We put the ribbon around the base, added some star garland and a spray in the background and voila! Here are the two finished products!

We ran out of tulle but I would like to have more around the Cinderlla one. Also didn't get to do the smallest one (Poppins) but I am just now I know exactly what to do and how to do it. The rest we will do closer to the wedding and it should be fairly simple.

Now for the dilema of transporting them to the reception hall......

They look amazing. Great job. I can't wait to see the rest.
Good luck

Very nice!!! Those look great!!! :)

As for transporting... :faint:

I'd box them maybe by 2 in copy paper boxes w/ lids if you could... :)
Good luck!!!
