Once again, the syndicated Who Wants To Be A Millionaire show will be taping 5 episodes from the WWTBAM-PI! attraction at Disney-MGM Studios. The tape date for Walk In and Win Week is January 14th, 2006. On that date, you can wait in line for the opportunity to audition and possibly tape the television show that very day without taking a written test. They will be taping additional shows with pre-selected contestants on January 12th, 13th, and 15th.

The MillionaireTV website has all the information on auditioning for Walk In and Win Week as well as obtaining tickets to any of the tapings.

Good luck to anyone who may try out. If anyone has any questions about the process, feel free to PM me. I served as a phone-a-friend for someone who participated last year. I also have a fair amount of history with both the WDW attraction and the television series in general.

Thanks Rob, are you going to be there?

Figures that I am planning on being there a couple of weeks earlier, not that I would have a chance to win the big prize but sure would be fun trying. Cash is better than a t shirt any old time, especially enough to pay for a future trip. That I could see doing. (arrogant, ain't I?" LOL

No, I won't be there since I'm not eligible. However, depending on who decides to go, I may be sitting by the phone all day as I did last year. I was on call for five different people I think, but three were out of the running rather quickly and only one of them actually was chosen to play the game. Naturally they were the very last contestant of the day, so I was on standby from roughly 9 am to 9 pm.

Rob, that is what you get for being so darned smart. LOL

I was more nervous being a Phone a Stranger than being in the hot seat.

I have three opportunities to play this time. I would hate to break my streak of being able to get in the Hot Seat but would sure love to beat my highest score and even win the cruise. (not likely but miracles CAN happen)

Slightly Goofy (who would love to have you as my backup someday)

Hi Eric

Are you still at Animal Kingdom? If so I may see you on the 13th if I keep to my agenda.

I am so lucky to have booked ten days, this morning!!!!!

Life is good.

I'm guessing that as usual, Disney Cast Members aren't eligible?

Employees of the Walt Disney Company, AOL, Capitol One, ABC, and other companies related to the program are ineligible. Sorry.

Start wishing me lots of luck, because our little pre-cruise Disney weekend just might turn into a trip to the Hot Seat, if I get lucky.

We'll be there the 13th-16th, and the 14th was actually our scheduled MGM day anyway, so, I know what I will be doing on the 14th. Okay, I know what I'll be doing on the evening of the 13th, too...trying to sleep in the MGM parking lot and not get caught by Security. ;)

I am so excited right now!

thank you!! i have a sneaking suspicion that dh will be getting up mighty early that saturday to try to get in!

rob, any chance you want to share your phone number for dh to carry as his phone-a-friend, given that you're the expert! (and since i am not sure we have any smart irl friends who would be willing to sit by their phone all day long for us  )

Getting up early? That means he'll be able to sleep the night before? ;)

I know I'll be too wired to get much sleep and be up by o'dark thirty on Saturday. I can barely sleep on a regular park day as it is, I want to get out there and moving so badly.

Should I make some room for you two to hide out in the MGM parking lot shrubbery with me overnight? :rotfl:

I just heard from some friends who are currently at DW and the husband got into the hot seat today with a fastest finger question. I told him that it pays to listen to me. :rotfl2: His wife made it last time. He did not get all the way but it was a start.

Lady and the others who are planning on being there - good luck and I will be rooting for you. I have sit by the phone too as I will be the Phone a Friend for my friends and another couple. I think I shall invite all my erudite friends over for a party that night as backup.

tried the Walk-In and Win thing last year.

I walked from the Boardwalk about 4:30 in the morning and was met by a security guard at the entrance to the parking lot. About 8 other people came in this way. At exactly 6:30 they opened the parking plaza booths and started letting cars come in. We were allowed to walk to the front of the parking lot at the same time. We were given wristbands with a number on it. (I was #5) and an information sheet to fill out. As soon as they had about 30 folks gathered up, we were walked into the Indiana Jones theatre to wait until everyone gathered. At about 7:00, they started getting the crowd excited and then started called numbers. They called out 320 numbers out of about 1800 folks that showed up. (FYI, they called out #1 and #3, but I didn't get called). After the number calling was over, those folks were taken somewhere for their interviews and were allowed to call family and let them know their number had been called. They also gave the producers names of family members that they wanted in the audience that day. Everyone else was directed to a table to get tickets for Saturday or Sunday tapings. I picked up a couple of tickets for Sunday tapings. It was now after 9am and we were allowed to stay in the park.

I decided to go back to my resort as I had been up since 2:30 am and had been upgraded to a 1-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk, so I went and soaked in that Jacuzzi Tub some more.

I did go to a taping Sunday. It was lot's of fun.

I'm not going this year as they announced this AFTER the 60-day window for Passholder Best Rate, and I'm not going to stay at an Epcot resort without a Passholder discount. I would have considered staying at a Value, then just taking the last PI bus to Boardwalk and getting comfy on a bench at the walkway until the security guard would let us in, but they are all booked up.

Thanks, this is a huge help as I was trying to figure out the logistics involved.

I'm unfortunately staying offsite this time (we have multiple people in our group and couldn't coordinate well enough to rent DVC points). So, I need to figure out the best way to get this to work, especially since no one else in the group wants to try out, so I think they're planning to drop my smarty pants self off and go back to bed! (they are no fun!)

I made the Hot Seat yet again and as much as I wish I could report that I crapped out on an extremely difficult problem I cannot lie - I messed up on a fairly easy question ( for me with my military background) and had all three lifelines intact . If only I could play from seat number 600. (sigh)

I sure do wish I could be there to see some of my DIS friends compete. There were several repeat players when I was there and I met one who had won a cruise. He is going to be a Phone a Friend also.

Please let me know if any of you get on the show and when it will be telecast as I would love to see you all do much better than I could.

Maybe I can learn something and do better in the Spring. LOL

Slightly Goofy, who just got home a few hours ago.

No matter how cold it was at WDW it was nowhere as cold as it was here. Brrrrrr!!

Hey, Goofy, there's no such thing as a bad time in the Hot Seat. :)

More pins, more experience, more fun- and that's what Disney is there for, the fun.

While I certainly *hope* I make it, honestly, the whole experience will be a good time. I know I'll have fun chatting with all the other Millionaire Junkies on line, and if I make it, great. If I don't, it'll be a fun story to tell my kids someday (well, if we have those kids, that is).

I wish everyone else who's going to be out there with me at o'Dark thirty on the 14th lots of luck!

SlightlyGoofy,

Glad to hear you made the Hot Seat again. I was hearing a lot of rumors for awhile about the show closing, but it appears to at least be there through March now as they will be taping the show in January and ESPN Weekend is in March. I'm planning to play again in late March, so hopefully it will at least be there that long. Did you by chance hear anything while you were there that would indicate they will or won't be there much longer? Are they still announcing a certain 8 year old girl's win before the show? Oh, and I believe that GSN will be rerunning my appearance within the next month. I'll try to remember to warn you before it airs.

ladysoleil,

January 14th will be here soon. Do we need to talk strategy or anything before it gets here?

I would love to. I caved and moved part of my ressie to on-site to help with logistics, which is a plus, but I'd really like to talk lifelines with you, among other things. :)

Do you still have my email? If not, PM me and I'll give you my contact info. I won't be on the boards so much around the holiday but I am an email junkie.
