How many of you bring zip ties for your luggage? Do you use them when you have to put your luggage out the night b4? What happens at the airport if you have zip ties locking your luggage?

Just wondering if it's safer to use them on our luggage, but don't want to cause any issues w/security.

I don't use them but I'd think if security needs to check your bag, they would just cut them. I've never had anything stolen from my luggage but then again, would never pack anything worth stealing.

We always use zip ties (I used to work for a company that made them so I have a ton from the annual giveaway days). We don't fly since we're local, but we use them before putting out our luggage. I'm sure airport security would just clip them off if needed.

We use zip ties!! I carry finger nail clippers in my purse so i can cut them off as soon as i get to the airport. We put the zip ties on when we put them in the hallway.

Use them all the time. The airline will just cut them if needed. No security issues for us.

We also use zipties for cruise and resort. I buy a bag from the Dollar Store. I keep a small scissor in the pocket of the checked luggage. We have never had any problems.

We didn't last year but will for sure this year. We had ice cream stuffed in our suitcases last year when we had put them out the night before. It was awful, wish someone would of told me about the zip ties last year.

Wow, that's awful. We're heading on our 11th cruise soon and never had anything like that. Some people are just crazy. :sad2:

We're bringing a bag so the kids can fasten the concierge gate closed when they get bored.

What exactly are you saying, someone on the Disney staff put ice cream in your luggage??

And I'm not sure why you all are using zip ties if you don't put anything valuable in there? Innocent question, really not sure of the purpose.

That is HORRIBLE!!!

I'm so confused?? What??

Um, maybe I'm missing something here but we just use luggage locks. They are TSA compliant so they can unlock them with a master key if they need to get into our bags at the airport.

Is there some reason you can't use luggage locks on the ship?

The ice cream thing is terrible!!!!! Probably some idiot kid thinking they were being hilarious:rolleyes:

I lost my keys once and so we went w/zip ties after that!!

We don't keep valuables in our luggage which is why we didn't think we had to "lock" them up but after our experience last year we will for sure being using zip ties this time. I didn't know they made locks that were good for airports and such.

We have lost "TSA Approved" locks the last two trips we have taken! They are on when we get to the airport, and gone when we pick our bag up at the carousel.

I think the zip-ties sound like a great idea. Did I read somewhere about also using the zip-ties to secure beach bags to chairs at Castaway Cay? Has anyone done this, or is tying your bag up even necessary? Thanks!

I keep our bags locked when we fly (hardside luggage with built in TSA approved locks).

For the carry cons and other bags that dont have locks, I use the numbered seal type of zip ties.

This way if I leave bags (like with the bellmen at GF) I know nobodys been in there, because its not a generic zip tie that can be replaced.

for years now, we have used zip ties when we fly. If TSA has the need, they will cut the tie to get into the bag. That has happened to us. They do not replace the zip tie but put a standardized note in the bag. We can tell right away that the bag was opened. I pack a pair of scissors in one of the outer pocket of a checked bag so we can cut them off. It is also nice to use to make sure the zipper stays closed. We have seen bags come down the carousel at the airport w/ the zipper part way open and contents starting to spill out...

No, I think they are trying to say that if they had used a zip tie on their bags, some othe RUDE guest would not have been able to put ice cream in their bag because they wouldn't have been able to get it open. At least that is how I interpret their post.

There is a gate to the concierge area that can only be opened by the concierge guests key cards. Dursin is attempting to be funny by saying his kids will use the zip ties to close the gate so NO ONE can get in or out thru that gate...:sad2:

we have never had a problem on CC, either at family beach or serenity bay...
probably the only thing of value that I take out there though would be my camera...
