Hiya All.

We are due to travel this coming October and have been regularly purchasing dollars since January from Crown Currency as and when it has reached the 1.52 mark since.

However, in light of the recent rise in the $ rate to the pound, I was just wondering who thinks it will continue to rise :confused3

I keep toying with the idea of purchasing some more as I would now get a rate of $1.542, but then if the dollar contiues to rise I may as well wait.

Any one have a spare crystal ball !!!!!

oooh the power to see into the future. at the moment it looks very good to sneak up a few more cents doesnt it? i am hoping for a $1.60 by the time my augsut trip comes. hope someone in the know may be able to tell us more;)

We were on a bit of a role, nice rises last few days then yet again Mervyn King opened his mouth again lost about 0.75% as he spoke. See the drop at about 11am this morning http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/hi/business/market_data/currency/11/12/intraday.stm
Every time he speaks it drops.
No more bad news and it will hopefully go in the right direction again, trouble is bad news is always just around the corner recently.
I will be happy if it stays above $1.50 after the lows of a few weeks back.

I have picked up my $$ today from the local travel agents - in the window it said $1.44 but i blagged her into giving me $1.50 - i was happy cause i had always said "when it reaches $1.50 i'm going to buy!!":rotfl2:

Personally I think it's not going to get much higher, and may even drop, so I'm getting as many dollars as I can right now on my fairfx card.

Tuesday it was 1.5175, now it's 1.50. I want it to stay at 1.50 until I've bought all my dollars lol.

I thought the $ was falling against the £ at the moment, not rising????

Andrew

The $ was falling until yesterday when it did make some ground on the £ again and has slightly risen :(

Claire ;)

We got a £1k worth today,at 1.47..Co op travel..It isnt too bad,me thinks we was spoiled with the $2 for £1 :rotfl:

Gained a little this evening. Hope he doesn't say anything else for a while now:lmao:

Thought you might be interested in the thoughts of the people at Crown Currency. This was in an email we got from them yesterday. Makes you think they could have a point.

"Yesterday Mervyn King Governor of the Bank of England talked the pound down by explaining the English economy is going to take a long time to get back to normal.
Currency experts believe the he is trying to devalue the Pound against the Dollar and the Euro. When he spoke yesterday he knocked the Dollar against the Pound down from 1.5350 to 1.5100."

I have believed this for some time now. Seems like an agenda he rolls out when it gains some value. I am in the building trade and a few of the lads I know who work on new sites are getting work on big sites that are starting again so there is confidence returning. I do remember a couple of days ago there was talk of confidence being shown and Mr King seemed to appear to try and knock everything out of it deliberately.

We are in construction too and things do seem to be on the up:thumbsup2

I do get a feeling from people that everyone is now just trying to get on with things the best they can, sick of the doom and gloom I think.

We recently completed a small development of "first time Buyers" properties and surprisingly things are going better than initially thought.

Fingers crossed ay ;)

We fly in november and are hoping for $1.50 if it increases any further its just extra money in our pockets, keeping my fingers crossed.

The first time we went to America it was $1.53 so anything above this and we are content (not happy, just content).;)

Not long to go till your next trip Wayne. Have a good one.

Julie

Mannys is top of the list, also hope to try Bubbalous, Logans roadhouse, Applebees, Cracker barrel & Tony Romas. Also new Sweet Tomato LBV.
Going back to Chilis for a meal with Rob(Fuse04) and Olive Garden with friends, a different location as we were not impressed with OG LBV.
Others will have to wait for next trip like Bahama Breeze, will get there one day.
