Who thinks the 2 pin person limit on limited edtion pins is a joke?

Hypothetical situation here. Let's say your at Disney's Pin Traders & want to purchase 10 pins & they happen to be limited edition. Also you knew that the pin was released 6 months before, so it had not sold out & no one was rushing to purchase it. Do you think the Cast Member would say you can only purchase 2 limited editon pins, because they claim that is the rule? I understand that it is, but if the pins had been still for sale 6 months after they were released you think they could make an expection. Plus we would be doing them a favour by purchasing this many pins, so they would not have these pins sitting on the shelves. Finally it's not I am saying for people to purchase 10 POH pins by themselves, because I know those sell out very fast. I am just refering to a standard limited edition pin. Also it's not like 5 years ago when every limited editon always would sell out with the expection of POH pins & a few other hard to get select pins that are now sold today.

Basically I am asking if you think the 2 pin per limit on limited edtion pins, is a joke when it comes to limited editon pins that had been for sale for long periods of time?

While I agree that its a bit pointless to enforce a rule about limited edition pins that have been outstanding for a long time, I suspect that Disney does this for a few reasons:
1) They wouldn't expect their CM's to be able to tell the difference between the new and old limited editions.
2) They don't want to have two different standard on limited edition pins.
3) The pins really are limited editions and Disney wants them to be available to a wider number of people.

Has anyone recently tried to purchase a limited editon that you knew was released months before & tried to get more then 2 of them at the same time, since these pins were not selling at all? If you were able to do this, did the Cast Member have to ask another Cast Member if this purchase ok, or did they not even say a word? Also did the opposite happen where you were told, that you can only purchase 2 limited editon pins? If so did you try telling the Cast Member these pins had been for sale for so many months, or did you ask to speak with a manager to tell them that?

There is no story behind this post & nothing ever happened to me. I was just thinking about this rule & how it has some flaus to it. It's a good rule when a POH is being released, however I would be shocked if a Cast Member were to inforce it with a limited edtion pin that has been on sale for at least 6 months.

You could just go through the line a couple of times couldn't you? I think the problem would become deciding where the cut off time is. If it's six months why not five and if 5 is ok why not one month, or how about a week, or 3 days, and so on. Then how do the CM's keep track of when the time has come to allow for people to purchase more than 2 LE pins.

1st off all doesn't it sound stupid to back in line a couple times to pay for the same pins, when you can just pay for all of them at once? 2nd Me saying pins that were on sale for 6 months was just a number of the top of my head. Because I was thinking that was enough time to waive the 2 pin person limited edition rule, so obviously you can bring it down to maybe 3-4 months after 1st being releases. Fianlly the best thing WDW can do is educate their CM's on what pins have been on sale for a long time & what pins have just been released.

The only way to get around this is to comeback later in the day when there are different cast members or just go to all the parks and buy 2 at each. Thats how people get there gazillion POH's by the way!

Before we all lose our heads here. Limits are not just there for the heck of it as many of the pin trading veterans will tell you. Pin Sharks are the main reason for limits on pins. A hot LE pin makes a bundle on E-Bay or a sure fire way to shake down a novice trader for a pin. But back to your point when a LE's first comes out it's almost always 2 pins only. You might me able to go back in line at another register or come back at a later time but thats a big gamble and most CM's are wise to the go back in line tactic. But if that pin is still there over the span of a few weeks (dare I say months) the limit is still in effect but has been raised from two pins to four pins.

You make some good points, but the facts are most limited editon pins will still be on the shelves for months. The only expection to that as of right now are POH pins. This is not like 5 years ago when every limited edition pin & now surprise pins would be selling out. So that is why some rules need to be changed when it comes to pin limits on certin limited editon pins, that have been on sale for long periods of time.
