Who Remembers the First Reality Show?

I remember when I was a little, little kid watching QUEEN FOR A DAY? Anyone else remember?

Actually in the 70s there was a show called 'An American Family', which would have been one of the first (much earlier than real world.)

I've never heard of 'queen for a day', though, so that one might have come before an american family.

I believe that "Queen" aired in the late 1950's or early 1960's. SO it was definitely before that "American FAmily"..................P

We used to watch Queen for a Day everyday! I wouldn't call it a "reality show" since it was part of the many game shows that were a prevalent part of TV history.

I was thinking of the Loud Family.
And I think, now that you mention it, they were the family on "An American Family."

My mom told me about "Queen for a Day"


There was also "This Is Your Life"- also reality.

I remember the Loud family (what an appropriate name!), the big deal about them was that the parents' marriage broke up in front of America, and the son came out as gay.

I think the original "Peoples Court" with Judge Wapner counts somewhat as a reality show.

Anyone remember the $1.98 Beauty Show--where they would get a cheap crown and a bouquet of carrots--hosted by Rip Taylor! I used to LOVE that.
