lately I've talked to so many people and they have said they seem to have more fun then their kids at the Disney parks, but also on my trips to disney, at the end of each day I have seen so many kids passed out in their strollers, but yet parents are still so excited to keep going :)

I mean dont get me wrong, theres nothing more exciting seeing your little prince, princess, peter pan, tinkerbell or pirate living their wildest fantasy and seeing them have a smile on their face 24/7 but the parents or even adults without kids seem to have the time of their lives, and I hear so many stories about leaving the kids at home. :confused3

So who do you think has the best time, or do you think its just 50/50? Ive gone with an adult group and have had a blast, but at the same time, I cant wait to take children there as I know its a differnt type of happiness and excitement, but although the kids I will take would be happy, and I get to enjoy watching them, I would also be able to enjoy other things kids cant relate to which gives the adults the upper hand. Im confused :confused3

I usually work night shifts usually... so far, i have only got only adult couple who's children was the one that went back to sleep first while they have their fun out...

thats about it :P everyone time someone buys, you can totally tell they are soo tired. but kids are never tired...

I must admit that i am a 30 year old mom who LOVES disney. Along with that though, I love to see the excitement on my kids faces when they are at Disney. My DS (3), rarely shows emotion, and he had a permanent grin for our 5 day trip - so I think it can be 50/50, at least for me. I know my kids had a blast, but I had a blast seeing their excitement.

I agree, my dd 6 loves disney and I love watching her enjoy it as well, but I do think I have more fun, because I love disney and Love watching her at disneyland. :rotfl:

I am too a Disney freak and very few people shy of these boards can understand my obsession but as much as I love it I know my girls love it as well. I don't think my teenager loves it as much as I do or the girls do but she is always trying to be "cool". I think she probably enjoys it quite a bit but won't admit it.

My girls who are 5 and 6 have been going since they were babies and they LOVE it. The little was just tall enough to ride Indie this year and my 6 year old was finally old enough to ride Screamin. Part of me is glad they can ride all the rides but I do miss how cute they were when they were little and to see the reactions on their faces when they saw characters etc.

My girls STILL love all the characters though and I have to say as MUCH as I love the parks I get THE most enjoyment out of watching my kids enjoy it.

I know for me it is fun but for them it is magical so I think they probably get a little bit more out of it.

I know I enjoy the disney parks more than DD5. She screams bloody murder if I take her on a ride (Even rides like IASW) and acts like the world is coming to an end if any of the characters that don't have a human face get near her. Thats why she is not going on my dec trip. I told her she could go with me again as soon as she would ride the rides at the yearly fair without complaint and give chucky cheese a hug.

My only Disney experiences were as a child, then as a teen, then as a young adult. I can say that I always had fun, but I enjoyed it even more the older I got. We'll see if that holds true on my upcoming trips, 18 and 19 years since I last went!

I think it's a 50/50 enjoyment factor for adults and children.

You're right that there are some aspects of DL/DCA that adults can enjoy but kids can't relate. However, as someone else already mentioned, DL/DCA is more magical for kids, and I think it's because for them it's more 'real'. When DH and I see Buzz Lightyear or Mickey Mouse or whomever in the parks, signing autographs and taking pictures with the kids, we KNOW that it's just a person in a costume, but our kids think that they're the REAL characters. That's just one example, but you get what I'm saying. Our kids get that 'magical reality' aspect at DL/DCA that us adults can't get because we know better. So, although adults can enjoy some aspects that kids don't get, kids can enjoy many aspects that adults don't get. Sounds like a recipe for the perfect family vacation if you ask me. :thumbsup2

Very tough call at my house! I think we are all way into it for different reasons.

For the kids, it's primarily fun and games type of enjoyment. They are ready to go every single trip, and enjoy all aspects of DL and WDW.

For the adults in our group (me, DH, DSis and DBil) it is the only time we can truly relax and enjoy ourselves. The stress of work and life just fade away as we go under the "Here you leave the world..." plaque. The fun and excitement are way more psychological and emotional for us.

How's that for not answering the question!!! :lmao:

I think it's much more enjoyable as an adult. For one thing...you're in control. How can you beat deciding where to go, when to eat, when to start and when to sleep?

I've taken my daughters when they were small..ages 5 and 7 and of course they loved it. Were enchanted in fact. But, now my eldest (22) doesn't like Disney and my daughter who is now 20 and I go together. She, too, says she enjoys it more now.

I think as you age nostalgia comes into play and that's a powerful thing. Our memories of wonderment in youth are almost always stronger as we age than when we first experienced them.

My vote: Adult

Its funny cause my cousin he is 7 and his mentality is so innocent "EVERYTHING IS REAL", and when he saw Push the little talking Garbage can, he had a 15 minute conversation with the garbage can. He then walked around the park trying to talk to every garbage can :teeth: :lmao:

But my aunt who brought him thought that was the cutest thing ever and talks about it to this day. It was so fun for her to be able to watch her child in this "AWE of WONDER". I mean moments like that are priceless. For children its the time of their lives, but it is for adults too, but adults get to enjoy situtations for different reasons oblivious to the child.

This is just a topic thats kinda on my mind, I can see both sides and each are wonderful in their own way.

This is a tough one. We all have a wonderful time! My kids play "Disneyland" all the time, with pretend rides set up all over the house. I can't stop planning my next trip (which is why I became a travel agent, now I get paid to plan trips to Disney!) Disney is for everyone, we all love it there and smile non-stop while at the parks.

I'm a huge disney fan and I get more into it than my kids. They're into the rides and that's cool. I tap into the amazement and wonderment of the magic. The enchantment of the fireworks over the castle and the awwww over the parades. I remember when my grandmother took me to see Snow White and every time I go there it makes me think of her. As soon as you go through those gates, every care in the world is gone and you are in a different world of Walt's imaginaion. I get it and so do you. You know...after thinking more about it, I think both kids and adults get it. :thumbsup2

I definately love it more than my kids!!! They love Disneyland but I am the one that needs Disneyland. It is my sanity retreat. I go about every 6 weeks for a weekend get away. Without my trips I get tense and irritable. I love Disneyland.

My kids still believe in the magic, love the rides and characters and even enjoy our day to look and see (the last day at Disney is always a look and see day - no rides just sights that might otherwise be overlooked!) But I must admit, when I start talking Disneyland I hear - "again? We just got back!" Then when we are there it turns into, "Do we have to go, already?"

I went every year as a kid, and now every year as an adult. I would say the experiences are very different and hard to compare. Everything is so much more "real" when your a kid. The rides, the characters, it was even more magical as a kid for me.

As an adult part of my fun is watching my son experience it all. Another part of the fun is my memories from childhood, and being able to relive them when I'm there! Then of course I greatly enjoy all the rides, shows, and shops just because!

So I really can't compare it. They have all been magical wonderful times for me, both as a child and as an adult. But they are also different in their own ways.

We are a total Disney family!!! I love watching my kids faces as they meet their favorite character or see the castle. It is just such a magical experience for all of us. I would however like to spend just one day at one of the parks (preferably Epcot) to do some adult things with just my husband. I would love to drink around the world and not have my kids with me ;)

I probably have the most fun at Disneyland. I really HATE to leave and get back to the "Regular" world! :sad2: And it always takes me at least a week to get back to "Normal". I completely escape and become a kid again. Next year will be our first trip to Disney World! I know it will be wonderful and more beautiful memories will be created!

I know what you're saying. DH and I have never spent even one night away from our kids, but in January we're heading to WDW to spend four glorious nights and days having some adult time. :woohoo:

And yes, we will do a little drinking around the world. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

My 1st trip to DL was in 1974 when I was nearly 13. I was hooked big time, but didn't take another trip to DL until 1997 when my DD was 11 1/2 and my DS was 8. They had a good time, but were a bit sheepish of the rides. It took a couple of years, then they were ride fanatics. Now they are 17 and 21 and we're going in a few weeks and our whole family can't wait!! Hopefully we'll be able to take future grandkids there some day and experience it with really young children! :sunny:
