I am considering an artificial tree (frasier fir) or two for next year, however I am always disappointed in the appearance. Usually very skimpy looking. Anyone have a really good one that didn't cost a small fortune?

I LOVE the tree that we got from Hobby Lobby two years ago. So many people have commented that it looks so real. What I like about it is that the needles on the branches are not all the same. Some are the short ones and others are the longer ones. There are a few gaps in it but I like that. That is where we hang the longer ornaments. It's pre-lite with white lights.

We got it before Christmas when they were running a special. I think that it was about $170.00 (60% off)

If you like, I can check the brand for you this weekend when DH gets the box down to put it away.

I purchased a pre lit martha stewart tree from kmart 4 years ago. It's 6 feet tall and cost about $60 on sale. I think it's held up well and and isn't really showing it's age. I've had a real tree once since it was important to DH and with my allergies and the mess I said never again. I think for the price I have a really nice tree and even with the two boys all over it this year it looks no worse for the wear.

We just bought a new pre-lit artificial tree this year. We bought the General Electric "Just Cut" Frasier Fir (it was 7.5 feet tall with clear lights). I really love it because the branches look so realistic. Plus, it's nice and wide at the bottom, which was important to us since we have lots of ornaments and can't fit them on a skinny tree. Evidently the "Just Cut" line of GE trees is their line with the most realistic appearance.

However, we got ours at Home Depot for around $200, unlike the steep price on the website above. They sold out at all our local Home Depots Thanksgiving weekend, but maybe they have some left in your neck of the woods.

They don't have a whole lot left but I second Hobby Lobby! They have a white tree with berries and pinecones on it I would kill for!

We have a Martha Stewart tree from Kmart, also, and are very happy with it.
It was very inexpensive and is nice and full. People have actually asked if it was a real tree (although I do not think it looks real?). Only thing is - it's a major pain in the butt to put together. After all these years DH and I have it down to a science, but it used to take a couple of hours to get it up and looking "full".

You know I think that is the one we got but in 9 foot and we got a TON of compliments on it!
We got ours at Home Depot for about $280 but it was 9 foot and not on sale.
You definitely cannot see through it.

Ours came from QVC a few years ago. I love it because it is prelit with bot white and colored lights. It has a remote for the lights and we can choose to out on the white or colored lights. Or we can have BOTH on. Love it because I like the white lights but DH perfers colored. We both get what we want with this tree. I saw the tree in person when a neighbor bought one. My mom ordered one after seeing ours.

We did a Walmart tree this past year (I have admitted it!)...and I loved it. Not sure how long it will last though.

A long time. I have about 20 of them I use for both inside the house and as part of my massive outdoor display. Some of them are 7 or 8 years old and spend the holiday season outdoors, exposed to weather. They're definitely not the perfect replica, nothing is. But I buy them when they're 75% off after Christmas (usually after New Years), so they're $5 each. They work great for what I need.
