Has anyone else ever made those graduation hats out of paper? I got the idea off the random house website. One day I made one for all my Kindergarten students and they love them.
We make our grad caps by hand every year! We use posterboard to make them. They're quite easy.

Dh just made the grad cap with our DD.

She is addicted to JBJ. She has read every book.

I buy them and she reads them before we even get home from the book store. :rotfl:

They are wonderful books. :thumbsup2

My DS 6 LOVES Junie B. books. We bought him the entire set from scholastic. His favorite so far is TOOTHLESS WONDER.

Isn't is something that these books can make a 37 year old laugh their head off? :teeth:

Another Junie fan here! My dd7 loves them...they are the first "big kid" books she has read alone. That is all she wants to read and at first I wanted her to branch out a little but then I thought, heck she is reading well, by herself and if that is what she wants to read, so be it. She did read a Magic Tree House book (the mummy one-she loves mummies) but mostly sticks to her JBJ...

She has read about 5 of them...At first I was worried that she wasn't comprehending much, but I got her onto the Book Adventure website by Sylvan where she can take a little quiz and she has passed them all so far so I know she is "getting it".

My dd13 and I like reading them too. Just the way Junie "talks" cracks me up.

We were really into them about a year and a half ago. They would crack me up. :rotfl2: Now we are really into the Magic Tree House books. :) :)

DD5 loves those books!! They make me laugh so hard :rotfl2: ! We usually take turns each reading one page to each other, going back in forth. It has been great for her reading skills--she just wants to keep going to see what happens next.

DD (12) is past Junie B now but we still read them together for ME!!

I am a huge Junie B. Jones fan and have all the books. I can't just get it at the library, these are books to collect and read over and over for fun. Junie B. has a distinct voice and I have to read them the same way every time.

Love, love, love Junie B. Jones!!!! :teeth:

I think my favs are The Beauty Shop Guy (I'm a hairdresser) and Yucky Blucky Fruitcake. But to tell the truth, I love them all and the stories they tell and the lessons she learns.

Challada: Your DD sounds like she is getting gypped. No wonder you are disappointed in her teacher. I hate to hear about kids having lame Kindergarten teachers. That's such an important year. Good thing she has you!

THANKS...I'm just frustrated w/this lady beyond belief! In fact, she is NOT getting an end of the year gift from me and I usually do elaborate stuff for my kids teachers (and she knows this having been in this building a while and knowing me thru PTA presidency). She got a student teacher about a month ago and now doesn't even come to class anymore! I asked where she was and the kids tell me "oh, we see, Mrs. K sitting in the teacher lounge when we walk by it to music"! My DD has not seen her face in the classroom for 3 weeks now!!!! Never mind the fact that she has left reading instruction to the parents who come in to volunteer every day...AND handpicked the highest kids based on their incoming kindergarten testing! ARGGGGGGG!!!!

BTW..."Beauty Shop Guy" is one of our FAVORITES too! MY DD laughes and laughs at that one!

:thumbsup2 Junie B. Jones was my favorite book for quite the time. I used to want to BE her.

The cookies and Friday and expressions thing sounds like FUN!!! :thumbsup2

DS7 in in 1st grade & started reading JBJ last year. We really enjoyed those. :) Now he is more interested in the Magic Treehouse series & Little House books but DD5 is getting out of Kindergarten & we will start reading the JBJ over the summer.

Just an FYI: when you have a student teacher in the room, the cooperating teacher is REQUIRED to leave the room for extended periods of time, especially towards the end of the semester. It is not uncommon for the teacher to not be in the room the entire day. this is to help the student teacher feel comfortable and to understand what a "typical" day in the classroom is like. At this point in the school year, it is completely normal for the student teacher to be in control of the classroom and all the lesson plans for the days.

Not trying to defend someone I don't know but did want to clarify this. (and yes, I am a teacher)

The whole first great class is going to see a Junie B. Jones play at the end of the month and I'm chaperoning :) Both of my kids loved the books.

Just finished reading the newest Junie B. Jones book, Aloha-ha-ha to my Kindergarten class. Very cute! However, I did notice that there are fewer pictures in this one. Anyone else read it? What did you think?

I'm just wondering if anyone else enjoys Junie B. Jones books as much as I do. They crack me up!

I teach Kindergarten, and each year I read the entire series to my class. They always end up loving the books as much as I do. I have a Junie B. Jones doll that I let the students take turns holding during reading time. What cracks me up is that the kids start wanting to get their own Junie B. Jones books, even before they can read them. By this time of year, my top reading group is able to start reading the early books, like Stupid Smelly Bus. It's so great to have a series that gets my students excited about reading.

What are your favorite books? Mine are Meanie Jim's Birthday, Mushy Gushy Valentine, and Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, P.S. So Does May. The new book, Aloha-ha-ha is supposed to come out in May.

DD just finished 5th grade, and it's only now that she's ready to give away her extensive (maybe 20-25 books) collection. She just loved to read and reread them.

:lovestruc Them!!!! We just :rotfl2: at them!!! So funny!! Can't wait to read the new one!! :cheer2:

Me, me, me. I used to laugh so hard when I was reading them that DH would have to take over.

My DD just finished Aloha-ha. I'll ask her what she thought of it.

We went to the book store yesterday to get it and ended up with a pile of books. When did books get so expensive.

All of the Junie B. Jones books at Borders were Buy 2 get 1 free.

I love these books, as do my DD's. I cringe at the grammar in it, and I'll correct it while reading to my DD's. I'm OCD about that, though. But we love the stories.

Anyone ever look at the picture of the author in the back of the books? I think, with her glasses, that she looks a bit like Junie B.

When I'm reading the books aloud to my students, I sometimes make changes. For example, instead of "Stupid Smelly Bus", I say "Stinky Smelly Bus". I don't like the use of the "S" word in my class. :)
