I see so much more conversation about the other moderates but not much about CBR. I have stayed at POR and AKL and am thinking of CBR this June with DW & DD. I know the pool will probably be closed but we can deal with that. I'm wondering about the rest of the place. Is it fun? A good place? What makes it special? :lovestruc Will we be happy there or should we repeat POR which we loved?! Just hoping there are some CBR lovers out there to tell me about it and why we should go there.

Thanks, YO

I'm a total CBR fan. I love the tropical theming, the fun ambient music they play, the size of the rooms and the decor. The grounds are beautiful and it is lovely to walk around the property. I don't use the food court much except for snacks and sometimes breakfast. I also find the location quite central. I always rent a car so the size of the resort and the bus issues if any don't affect me.
I think you'll have a fabulous time!

The cool thing about CB is the atmosphere. It's like two vacations in one--Disney first then a tropical getaway second. It's the only moderate resort where we want to come back from the parks and just hang out by the pool, have a drink at the pool bar, watch the kids swim and enjoy the steel drum music. My sons also enjoyed renting the surreys and boats on site.

Good food court selection for b'fast and late night munchies. My only grievance was on a trip we took with friends three years ago. We had requested to be next door but at check-in, the only two rooms they had near each other were smoking. We had headaches and sinus issues for days and our clothes smelled like smoke when we returned from the trip.

We have stayed at two resorts every visit to Disneyworld. We have stayed at the Contemporary and now last week at CBR. To be quite honest, we loved CBR. We loved the quiet location that we had and the setting around the grounds. We had two rooms and both were clean and comfortable.

Next time we go back, it will be either at the Contemporary or CBR again.

I also really loved the CBR! Thou it is the only Mod I have stayed at, so nothing to compare it to. But I really enjoyed my stay there!!:thumbsup2

It is a great place, spread out, quite, each place has it's own pool. Beautiful scenery etc.

Last April, my daughter and I stayed at WL and fell in love with that resort. I thought I would never want to stay anywhere else. When we decided to go back for a quick trip in November, I needed to spend a little less money, so we stayed at CBR.

I had already booked WL for our trip this June for DD's 16th birthday. We loved CBR so much, that I am changing our reservations, and we are going back to CBR instead!

With the pool closed for rehab, will the pool bar be closed as well?

I've only stayed at CBR once but I really liked it. I was staying in Martinique which was pretty close to the main pool/eating area. Personally one of my favorite parts was walking every morning from my room to get breakfast. The landscaping throughout is really pretty and relaxing and I frequently saw bunnies which was fun. The hammocks on the beach area are really nice and fun to catch some rays in. I loved the rooms. Good size and theming. I'd definitely stay at CBR again.
And about the music/steel drums... HECK YES! It really really added to the ambiance of the resort. I felt like I was on a magical Caribbean vacation.
:goodvibes

Loving this thread
....excited for our first trip in December, when we're staying at CBR :cool1:

Our family stayed at Carb. last yr. I thought it was ok, the pictures were prettier than the actual resort. What I didn't like was the fact that the themed pool and snack/food area were located across the water and was actually quite a walk esp with a 3 yr old in tow. The buildings are named for the islands, Bermuda, Jamaca, Bahamas etc. If you stay here make sure you know what building you are staying in so that if you feel it is to far away from the areas I mentioned above you can request a certain building, also all the buildings look the same so be sure you can find your way back to YOUR building without getting turned around:))

We've stayed at CBR more times than I could tell you. It's a consistent favorite of my parents, they went there together before having kids, they picked it for most of our trips when I was younger, and each time we go it is always Dad's first pick. We love the tropical atmosphere and the lovely landscaping. If you're not particularly close to the main building, you will have a bit of a walk to get to the food court. But we usually don't mind just walking around the resort and enjoying the ambience anyway. And because there are bus stops all around the resort, you will not have to walk to the main building to get to the buses. However I should warn you that if you are one of the last stops on the route, you might have problems with space availability by the time the bus gets to you. I would have to say that is probably my family's only complaint about CBR. But this can be avoided if you are willing to walk to another bus stop (or take the shuttle around the resort) to catch your bus and then you can be dropped off at your own stop when you return.

As for the rooms, they are pretty spacious and four people can fit comfortably in them. To maximize space though, we usually just book two adjoining rooms and my sister and I share one while our parents take the other. We love the layout and decor of the rooms, and always find the beds to be quite comfortable.

I haven't stayed at CBR since 2005 (we've recently stayed at POP and ASMu due to budget or last-minute trips) but I will stay there again! It's definitely worth the trip. :cool1:

Have a wonderful trip, and good luck with your resort decision!

CBR is my favorite Disney resort! I love everything about it; the coloful "villages", the white sand beaches, the Caribbean music in the background..... It was the very first Disney resort I stayed in.

Coach my DD 18 will be playing @ Disney in June too. Do you coach v/b? What age group? We too like the looks of CBR but the pool being closed would be a major factor for DS and DDBF who would be swimming while she is playing.
The hammocks looks to comfy and tempting!

We will be first timers next month, staying one night at CBR. Looking forward to it. :cool1:

We usually try to stay at POR as well, but it wasn't available this time out so we stayed at CBR. We really enjoyed it. :)

It's quiet, much more so than POR and the rooms are bright and colorful. But not in an "OMG, I'm blind!!" kind of way.

The only issue we had was with the food court. The people there aren't the brightest bulbs in the lamp, as far as service goes, (they're probably very nice people in RL) and that caused some issues for us. But other than that, it's great.

Oh, and someone back there said that it looks better in pictures than in person, but I'd have to disagree with that. It is much prettier in person than in any of the pictures I've seen here. :thumbsup2

I LOVE CBR!!! It is my favorite and we stay there almost every time we go, however, money is an issue this year, so I've settled for POP. It has the most beautiful scenery & all of the hotel buildings surround the lake. Each carribbean named section has its own pool and there are several beaches that you can lay on with plenty of chairs and hammocks for relaxing. If you walk around, the landscaping is amazing and they have a cute little island with many paths where you can find a romantic place to have all to yourself. The rooms are nice, the people are wonderful, the music & atmosphere are great, you can rent boats and go out in the lake, I really can't say anything bad about it!

I agree with everything that the other posters have said. This April will be my fourth stay at the CBR. The atmosphere is fun, relaxing and lovely to look at. Coming from upstate NY we love to get our "palm tree fix" when we stay at CBR. The walk to the food court doesn't bother us. It just gives us time to enjoy the resort. I also like the fact that you don't get that big hotel feeling. I have visited several of the other resorts and stayed at the Contemporary twice but the CBR has my heart!

We totally LOVE CBR!! We have stayed there twice and its our favorite Mod. Me and my boys wanted to stay there on our most recent trip but it was my nieces (age 3) first Disney trip and because she LOVES BUZZ AND WOODY so much we stayed at All Star Movies just for her. When we go back we are definetly staying at CBR.:thumbsup2
