Who likes to stay in Preferred rooms at the Values?

I see a lot of posters saying that they would not pay the extra to
get a preferred value room so I would think that there would be those out
there who think it is worth it. We will be at POP in less than 2 weeks for free dining and preferred was the only thing available. That suits me just fine as we do enough walking in the parks and I have always wanted to try preferred to see how much difference it makes.

Anyone always/mostly get preferred rooms? :goodvibes

We always get preferred rooms. It started when our kids were small and we didn't want to have to walk them to the back of beyond after a long day walking in the parks. Now DH and I want the preferred rooms because we're too tired to walk that far after a long day in the parks :lmao:

I would hate to "request" Jazz and wind up in Country Fair (we prefer the ASMusic) and have that long schlepp at the end of the day. This July we got pool side 1st floor (1st time for us) and I thought it would be too noisy, but I loved it! Out of the room and right to the pool and oh so close to the food court. It couldn't have been better!

Thanks for posting this! I (and family) am booked into a preferred room at POP for 11/6-11/13. Have been torturing myself for a week about not switching to Standard. (Now it's not available). So, I hope lots of people think Preferred is the way to go! ;)

We are staying in Preferred Rooms at Pop in 9 days and they were all that was available when I booked. I didn't mind though, because I usually like a "Preferred" Room no matter where I'm staying :goodvibes

What I'm not sure about is what to request. I would prefer quiet rooms. Does anyone know if preferred rooms are available if I request 50's lake view?

I'm not familiar with the layout of Pop so I can't help you. At ASMusic/Movies/Sports certain buildings are deemed "preferred" by way of their location. The closest to the food court/bus stop is what determines this. If you were staying at say the Music, and wanted preferred but quiet, I would request a parking lot view or the back side of the building.

There are a lot of Pop fans out there, so if I were you, I might start my own thread about this so they can see it.

I've started choosing "preferred" rooms at the values after getting stuck with pot luck in the back of beyond @ POP. Didn't like it, was too noisy in the back, had to drive the car to the front to catch the bus & to eat, etc, so now I pay a little bit extra to be close to bus loop and food court. Same thing happened at a moderate when we chose a standard room. Everything was so far away it was a miserable hike after a long, hot day at the parks.:headache:

I had originally booked a standard room, but after reading through hundreds of posts debating this I decided that I wanted to go prefferred.
As I'm in the Uk, it was quite cheap to add this to my reservation, it cost me an extra £40 for 14 nights, so much cheaper than doing it through Disney. I would much rather pay the little bit extra and know that I'm not going to have to walk for ages to get to the food court or the pools and bus stops. :thumbsup2:

The ability to book a preferred location is the #1 reason I stay at a valueresort when I go to Disney.

I can well afford to stay at any of Disney's resorts but the #1 reason I stay at a value is because I can pay a little extra and get a preferred location.

I have limited mobility so I like knowing I am going to be close to the food court, bus stop, & main pool.

We stayed preferred at Pop last January and we liked our location a lot. We were in the 50's in building 1, first floor room. It was very close to Classic Hall. Near the bowling pin pool but not right next to it so it wasn't loud at all. We were very happy, I think our room number was 1104.

Nope. None. Preferred rooms at Pop are a certain radius from Classic Hall. ALL lake view rooms are outside this radius, therefore Standard rooms. A few of the Preferred rooms in the 50s face the parking lot (a LOT quieter than you'd think!), and all the Preferred rooms in the 70s face either each other, or another building, or a parking lot.

Okay - thanks for the info.

IMO - the preferred 70's rooms are not worth the extra cost. The 50's & 60's preferred rooms are definitely worth it.

The 70's rooms were not near anything. They're just sort of "lost" in the center of the resort. I think Pop searched for the farthest room out in preferred for us last month. We were disappointed.

I am staying in a preferred room at POP for the first time this year. I am looking forward to being able to refill my mug without having to walk to far. I think I will also try and grab breakfast while my DH is showering to save time in the morning. Hopefully I will be close enough to do this without it taking twenty minutes. I'll let you know how it goes.

That's one main reason that I want to be closer (refilling the mugs). After a long day at the parks my feet are killing me and I feel like I would just rather dehydrate than walk all the way to the room and back. We don't carry bags in the parks so don't take them with us. Looks like I will be going sooner than you, so I will post back with where my room is and how accessible everything is!! :thumbsup2

I am so jealous! The one thing that I have heard is that you might want to request a room that is NOT facing the pool. I had a room facing the computer pool and sometimes it got loud. I am bringing earplugs this year just in case. How long is your stay? Maybe our paths will cross in the airport and you can tell me in person!:lmao:

We are driving down on the 2nd and checking out on the 8th. We are driving down from Kentucky! I have not requested any kind of room (I'm not really sure how). I'm so excited to get going since this is an unexpected trip (we couldn't pass up free dining). I just hope that our room is one of the closer preferred rooms (that would be wonderful). I will look for this thread when I get back and let people know where we were and how it went! I hope you do the same!! Have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

I agree. This past April, they tried to put us in a room in the 70's. When we got to the room, I saw that it was further away than a 70's room I had stayed in before that wasn't a preferred. I went back to the desk and luckily, they were able to switch us to a room in the 60's building.

I'm wondering if I could call and have a request noted on my reservation that I DO NOT want to be in the 70's. Has anyone done this with any success? I'm not really that picky. I would be fine with a room in either the 50's or the 60's and floor # doesn't matter to me.

When you check in give the CM your room request. They may not be able to accommodate but it doesn't hurt to ask. Have a GREAT trip.
