I'm not keen on Leave a Legacy, but it is pretty harmless, easy to ignore.
Ohhh, I feel a new poll coming.

I think it completely takes away from the view when entering MGM. The Chinese theater is now hidden behind what was supposed to be a temporary fixture... Same goes for the Mickey Hand in Epcot - the sphere looked much more futuristic without the hand and sign slapped on top... Even Disney videos still show it without the hand... Bean counters won on both counts and said it was cheaper to leave them up as is I think... Does not seem like the imagineers chose to keep them up - at least that is what I believe.

Leave a legacy? You mean the add some tombstones memorial and clutter the entrance legacy?

Rather, instead, I believe marketing folks won on both counts, saying that more guests would be attracted to the parks by these friendly, engaging icons.

Count us as wishing they would move the hat. We actually like the hat - just not where it is.
I'm with you. I like the hat, just now where it is. ;)

It doesn't have to go away, just go somewhere that's not there. It does ruin the atmosphere in my opinion. I liked being able to walk down Hollywood Blvd and see the chinese theater.

I  the hat! The only theme that I had a real problem liking was the pink birthday cake decorations around the castle a few years ago. Now that was tacky! Nothing magical about a pink castle cake...Yuck!

I don't like the hat where it is, either. It totally ruins the view. I would probably be more receptive if it weren't just a pin store. I love pins...but it seems like a waste to have this big, huge, hat sell pins.

Now, to my two cents on SE. It's not the hand, as much as the huge letters spelling "Epcot."

Here's the problem...I don't need a reminder that I'm at Epcot. I know I'm there. SE is the icon of Epcot. Seeing SE is all I need. I'm not so dumb that I need a huge sign telling me where I am. SE is the sign.

So, apparently, next on the drawing board are:

-A huge Cinderella Arm holding "Magic Kingdom" spelled out in huge letters on Cinderella Castle

-A gigantic Flik arm holding the words "Animal Kingdom" on ToL.

-And finally, since many of you like the hat, let's add another Sorcerer Mickey arm on top of the hat holding a sign that says "Disney-MGM Studios" (well, I know they'd prefer "Disney Studios," but for now they're stuck).

Gosh, wouldn't that be charming? (Thank you for indulging me...I don't know why, but that sign just drives me crazy!!) :rotfl:

I like the hat better than the mouse ears tower that was the old symbol of MGM. Howvere I wish it were moved a little closer to the entrance and it was used for something else other than selling pins.

I like the hat and (getting ready to duck! :duck: )I even like the big flashy Epcot sign...

Personally I really like it! It's become a new symbol, it was the tower before which was inimaginitive and boring but that just says a lot about the movies side of Disney to me (Sorceror Mickey)

It wasn't there until our last trip in 2004. I wondered what the heck it was, and it was huge, LOL! But I love it now. It makes for some great pictures too.

Ugh I couldn't agree more. That thing was gross beyond belief - absolutely hideous! I hated it!!

I'm also not too keen on the leave a legacy thing, but that's just me :confused3

It is always our center. We will meet back at the hat, see you at the hat, If you get lost go to the hat.

Hi everyone. I like the hat however I would like to see a bit more added underneath it instead of the pin selling booth. What could Disney add there? :wizard:

I think its great! It sticks out and gives MGM more of a "OHHH, lets go to MGM to look at the big hat!" type thing. Every park needs a big Thing. LIke MAgic Kingdom, Castle, Animla Kingdom, Tree, Epcot, Silver Ball. Its good that MGM has the Hat

i think that the hat is where it is, is because of this picture. when you walk into any wdw theme park you are be greeted by a WDW icon. before the appearance of the hat you were greeted by the chinese theatre, not a WDW original . maybe that why the hat is where it is.

i I do love the hat. :wizard:
