Who lets their 7 yr old read "On Board The Titanic" before a Magic-al cruise!

Well as usual Tr won out and my house is a mess:rolleyes1 Oh well, on to the good stuff!
On to our formal dinner. We got all gussied up and the kids looked beautiful, although I am biased. Dd3 was tired because of her long day. They keep the kids busy in the clubs. Poor dd7, she has so many rug burns on her knees and elbows from all the sliding and playing and falling she was doing. Good thing we brought Band-Aids!
We went down to the main lobby area for formal portraits and hit as many as we could before our 5:30 dinner time. We were even first in line for a picture with the Captain. The kids quickly grew tired of having their pictures taken so we moved on to the free beverages being offered. The girls had fruit punch in GLASS glasses! What were these people thinking? I was a nervous wreck until they finished their drinks. Dd3 loved the fruit punch and just sucked it back! Dh and I tried a Cosmopolitan (? sp). Neither of us liked it but we “choked” them down. They were free after all! I kept saying to the girls don't drop your drink! Watch the people around you, don't bump in to anyone! Can you say NAG?

We had dinner in Lumiere’s which is the most formal looking of the dining rooms. It was lovely. I had a leek and goat cheese tart to start (very nice), then cold Vichyssoise soup also good. The main course was beef tenderloin and for dessert Grand Marnier soufflé. I was disappointed in the soufflé; it wasn’t that good, not very light and not much flavor. Maybe I was spoiled by the Palo chocolate one. Dh had tomato basil soup and the lamb shank for dinner. He said they were both good.

The Mickey head ketchup served at every meal (for our kids anyway. Ketchup is another food group don't ya know!?) They never put the bottle on your table you always get it on a side plate as a Mickey head.

Our precious dd3 fell asleep at dinner when dh was taking dd7 to the BR. Why do they always have to go during dinner? Dd3 ended up sleeping on my lap. I ordered decaf after the meal and asked for cream and it never did come. I was very disappointed. They both (server and asst server) were not at their best this night and I felt rushed at times and other times we waited a long time for things like coffee. This was our 3rd night and I had decaf with cream every night. We ended up leaving before the cream ever showed up. DD3 was trying to get comfortable on my lap and almost fell a few times. We went back to the room thinking we were in for the evening and would have to miss The Golden Mickey’s. Dh and dd7 went to a magic show before the Golden Mickey’s. I said if dd3 woke we would try and meet them at the show. Well dd3 decided to wake up when we were back in the room so we went to The Golden Mickey’s after all and snagged a seat with dh and dd7. The show was amazing! I loved the “red carpet” before the show. I know people around us thought it was corny but I loved it. During the show I thought Cruella and Tarzan were fabulous! I took no pictures because there’s no flash photography and we weren’t close to the stage. The kids really loved the show too. After the show we went……….you guessed it …….to bed! It was 10:00 after all! Are we pathetic or what?
dh and dd7 at dinner. Handsome couple don't you think?

Tomorrow Grand Cayman and shopping and I should win Mother of the Year, Titanic raises its ugly head again!

Ahhhh...children in formalwear! Is there anything cuter. Your girls looked beautiful; you are not biased, just right. Keep up the great trippie!

Awwwwww.... your darling daughters are so very precious!!! They look like they're having a great time in just about every picture no matter how tired they are. And LOL, you sound like me with the "don't drop the glass, don't bump into anyone". My boys are 14 and 12 and I still bug them with things like that. 'course you know boys... you can dress them up all you want but they're still bulls in the china shop!! :rotfl2:

Absolutely LOVING all the pics ... especially the ones of the food. It all looks soooooo yummy, especially the creme brulee. It's a good thing I made the decision not to worry about being thin and just decided to be fat and happy. Now I can enjoy every single delicious morsel. Excuse me while I go clean the drool off my keyboard now. :rotfl2:

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was supposed to be thin for the cruise too. I just decided to leave the fat suit on:lmao: I loved your comment about boys!

Loving the Tr.... Your little girls are cuties too..

I have a quick question that you might know, do you remember what the drink prices were on the ship?

It's so true! My main struggle with DS5 on formal night will be keeping his shirt tucked in and his tie on long enough to get to the atrium for pictures! :lmao: Hey pruplepeg, I think we'll break out the postcard next weekend! I'll post a picture! ;) I've arranged to pay-it-back with another cruiser when we're onboard, I was so encourage with the delivery time of my postcard, I'm going to give it a try from CC even though it's just a little over a month until the other family cruises. I'll bring home some extras and tell her to pm me if they don't have it by a week before, and drop one in the mail from home if needed! Just love the DCL stamp and CC postmark!! :lovestruc

Thanks for thr comment about the girls. I think they are precious too!
As far as drink prices go, I knew someone was going to ask me that.! DH said "well, aren't they on the drink menu?" That would have been way too easy. I think they were between $4.75-$5.50. We can't remember for sure but I remember thinking that they were really reasonable. They are a quite a big drink. I don't know what the beer prices were because I don't drink beer and hubbby didn't have one this trip.

I say tuck his shirt in and put on his tie while you are waiting in line for the photograph's! I can't wait to see the picture when he sees the postcard! I hope you aren't disappointed! You know when you are expecting them to be super excited is the time they go "Oh yeah, postcard.....cool! I was surprised how quick it took to get to you as well. Keep me "posted"

ok all you lurkers out there, why aren't you posting? I enjoy writing this but I really enjoy hearing feedback or questions. Come out of lurkdom and participate! I'm waaaaiiittting!

Great trip report, keep it coming! Gotta know about the Titanic :lmao:

We are booked for our first cruise for next year! We are so excited and we too picked the cat 4 and we are in room 8510.

If you don't mind I just have a couple of questions.

1. Did you feel a lot of movement/rocking being so forward in the ship?

2. I know this room is under the spa area but did you hear any noise from up above?

3. Did you hear a lot of noise from the rooms next to you? Can you tell I am a light sleeper!

4. How was the room size and storage space? There are 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids.

Okay I think that is all my questions! Sorry!

Thanks

Oh, is that what you're waiting on before we get the next installment? Will it work if I pretend to be four different people and start posting questions and such? Will that get us more from you then?

</me ducking and running to avoid whatever's being thrown at me> :rotfl2:

2. No, none
3. Me too, but nothing!
4. There was 3 of us...unpack into drawers etc (there are plenty) and put bags under the bed. Surprisingly roomy!

I have never stayed in your room, but on our last cruise, we happened to be in a room with a connecting door to another room. Unfortunately, the kids from hell were right next door and we heard every foul mouthed word and every temper tantrum they had (and there were lots of them) - going on until midnight. I hated to do it, but I finally had to call them and ask mom to please do SOMETHING!!! I think we heard more than one would normally hear because of the connecting door - think it let lots of noise in. Regardless, you never know who might be next to you, so I would bring some earplugs just in case. ;)

We didn't have any storage issues and we had 4 large bags for an 11 night cruise - no problems at all!

Have fun. I'm jealous. I'm doing a 3 nighter in November and then the 7 night eastern in November 2009. They both seem way too far away! :sad1:

Thank you all for posting. I feel so much better now. I am working on the next installment:surfweb: Dh and I had a weekend getaway in the city to spend time together. I did work a little on the report so it should be out soon. If not tonight, tomorrow. First I'm giving up housework and now I'm sacrificing time with my honey:scared1: What's next....eating, children:lmao:

I'm working on it. You won't believe what I did:scared1:

Never, never apologize for questions;) How else are you supposed to find these things out? Answers as follows
#1. Not as much as I thought we would but I did feel as though I was being shaken by someone at times while lying down. It wasn't bad, I just kept waking up because I thought some little person needed me for something. Dh never noticed it:confused3

#2. I think the whole week we were there I heard something like a chair being moved once and I think it was during the day.

#3. During the day we did hear people talking and a baby crying but it wasn't all day every day and either that baby slept through the night or they kept a pillow over him/her(kidding) we never heard the baby or talking or anything at night. I think there are only 2 or 3 more rooms after yours so the nice thing is only the people going to those rooms are going to be going past your room. Too many goings there I think!:confused3 If you are a really light sleeper then ear plugs may be an option for you or the TV has a sleep timer and we used that every night to fall aleep to. It's what we do at home too.

#4. That's how many people were in our room and I thought there was ample space. I did bring and use the over the door shoe organizer. The bathroom door wouldn't close completely then but it was ok. Dh could get the door closed but I never could. The trunk near the veranda window had 3 shelves in it, plus the drawers by the closet and by the tv. I also brought about 10 extra coat hangers and when I sent our clothes out for pressing they came back on hangers. We put suitcases inside each other and under the bed and ended up with one in the closet and the carry-ons were by the trunk. We did have to lift the bed up to get the suitcases under but they were good once under there. We traveled with 5 suitcases and 2 carry-ons and 2 kids sized backpacks for a family of 4.

#5. Oh right, there were only 4 questions but I thought I would also let you know that I loved this location, it was quiet and no foot traffic. It's also close to the forward elevators which is great for Castaway Cay because the ship backs in so everyone goes down the aft elevators. For dinners we went all the way aft on deck 8 and then either down the stairs or elevators and were right near dining. That way you don't have to walk through shutters and all the people down there.

Oh, is that what you're waiting on before we get the next installment? Will it work if I pretend to be four different people and start posting questions and such? Will that get us more from you then?

Thanks for supplying all that info for her. That's what I love about the DIS:goodvibes

Great TR, keep going!!!:thumbsup2

Sorry you had to deal with that. I'm sure the connecting door had something to do with it. That and rude kids. Did it stop when you talked to her? I hope so. I know it seems like your trips are far away but you can maintain the magic by reading about others fun. It's practically like being there!

Thanks for doing that, I'm sure it helped her. Lovin the DIS,
