My 7 year old daughter wanted to see it so I decided to rent it and watch it before I let her see it to see how much bad words, etc is in it.

I could not Believe it!! It has so many bad words and so much kissing, making out in bed in front of your mom who okays it??HELLO?? . Forget watching with my 7 yr I would not even watch it with my 13 yr or my 15 yr old niece.

Also about calling your friends mom to tell them that their daughter is in a clinic to do you know what.

I just cannot believe that Lindsay Lohan would star in such a movie.

I am so glad I watched it instead of watching it with my daughter. I would not even let my 13 year old son watch this.

But of course moms will rent or buy it for their kids since my daughters friends mom bought one for her 7 year old and that is why she wanted to see it also.

I guess it everyone personal choice to see it or not but I wanted to give my two cents worth LOL.

On a side note: I thought that Hillary Duff's Lizzie Mcquire movie was so nice compared to this. I hope she doesnt ever stoop to this level to make movies like Mean Girls. I have not seen Cinderellas Story so I cannot say though.:earseek:

Oh come on. They have to grow up some time. It's not like they're gonna be in the sweet pink fuzzy movies that I grew up with. Heck, look what happened to Christina Aguilera!

I let my 11 year old daughter watch it..... I think it all depends on the maturity level of the kid, and my DD is very mature for her age and she and I enjoyed it...except for the "gross" parts as she said !

YIKES!!! Sounds pretty bad to me.

Haven't seen it.

The content of all "kid" movies scares me these days :(

i thought the movie was a PG13?

kind of makes you think it wouldn't be suitable for a 7 year old?

It is PG-13. Therefore, I wouldn't even think about my 7 yr old watching it. I don't see that Lizzie McGuire and Mean Girls were even marketed to the same age groups. Lizzie McGuire - preteen and young girls. Mean Girls - teens.

You are right it is a pg13 but sometimes some pg13 movies are not so bad so that is why I decided to see it first since since it is so popular with little girlsl because Lindsay Lohan(a disney star) was starring in it.

I can also see the point that these girls like Lindsay Lohan, Hillary have to grow up but they do not have to become a Cristina or Brittany do they? lol. :bounce:

Well, Britney and Christina all started out so innocent...just never know! ;)

It's not a kid movie! It's rated PG-13 and is NOT intended for children, so obviously I wouldn't allow my children to watch it.

Lindsay is starting to do more than just kids movies, she's becoming a woman and wanted to branch out in her movies. I think comparing her movie to a Hilary Duff movie isn't quite fair. They are completely different movies and audiences. SHould Hilary only do kids movies for the rest of her life?

My DH and I quite enjoyed Mean Girls, but we are ADULTS. I never even thought it was geared to kids...?

I'm so glad that I don't have to worry about this subject anymore. Sad but true :(

my daughters are (almost)14 and 12 -- that's 9th and 7th grade. they've seen the movie. and the scary thing is...they could relate to alomst every aspect of it.

it's not appropriate ofr 7 year olds.

but ask the average middle school or high school student about that movie, and you'll find that A LOT of that stuff is going on in YOUR CHILD'S school.

Shes right. My son just turned 13 and is in the 7th grade. He liked the movie and could relate to parts of it. He certainly understood it.

We have a much harder time, in my opinion, than our parents did. Things are starting waaaay earlier now and if WE don't tell our children about it, someone else in their school will.

Mean Girls is one of the funniest "teen" movies I've seen in a long, long time. Yes, "TEEN", movie. It is not a child's movie, and Lindsay Lohan is not a child, she's a young adult.

My DD14 and all her friends have seen this movie, and they can all relate to it. The subject matter deals with high school age kids, not young kids. A lot of the humor found in the situations is done is such a way that it is not nearly as sexual or inappropriate as I've seen in other teen movies.

Mean Girls cannot be compared to fluff like Lizzie Mcguire. I agree, kids younger than middle school age probably shouldn't see Mean Girls. It was not aimed at that age group.

I'd also like to say that my 72 year old mother saw Mean Girls and found it hysterical. :)

Why be surprised that a PG-13 movie is not suitable for a 7 year-old?
If it were suitable, it would be rated PG or G.
That is what the rating system is intended for.

exactly. my daughter is a high school freshman.

the other day a senior was handing out postcards at lunch. it seems that one of our local bar/club establishments has invited MTV to come film one of their shows, and they've decided to make it a "no i.d. nite" and not serve alcohol. they're trying to attract the 17 to 20 crowd. dd tells me "it's a teen night, can I go?"

you're not even 14 yet, darling, you've got a long time before I let you go to a place like that...

My girls are getting it for Christmas. Haven't seen it yet, but I don't care what they watch.

I love that movie!!! I'm a high-school freshman, it's probably my favorite! Sure it's a little N/A but if you go to lower B in my school, you see things far worse >.<

Seriously? You don't care what your 10 and 11 yo DDs watch?

My thoughts exactly. If it is questionable, it's best for parents to view it first, which the OP did. I don't know why people expect certain actors to only perform in one rating type movies.

I thought it was a well thought out, entertaining movie. My 11-year old niece saw it, but she knows better than to repeat those words. It had a great message, but most kids would probably not understand it until they were a bit older than eleven.

My son is homeschooled, and I enjoyed all the tongue-in-cheek homeschooling humor.
