~!Who knew you could relax in Disney?~Mother/Daughter Tr~5/2 May Trip Plans Days 5-8

Okay I am kicking myself for not trying that eclair! YUM! It looks so good! Good thing we are staying there again in March!

I'm very curious about the Disney rule you ended up breaking! I once got "yelled" at (not really yelled, but spoken to) on the Safari, but I had no idea she was talking to me, apparently she thought I kept standing up on the ride, but I wasn't, I was just sliding around a bit in the seat to get a picture. I felt so silly after I figured out she was talking to me!!! :rotfl2:

My parents loved it! :woohoo: for staying there again in March!

It will be an interesting story

I think everyone has at least one story where someone in their party got spoken to  I would have felt silly too! I am not a very good listener and when someone is talking to me I don't usually realize it right away

Thanks Angie! I hope it's just as dry for your trip! :thumbsup2

 You're welcome ;) we try to update once a week since we have been so busy! We even plan days to do an update

Thank you!

They had a lot to offer and everything looked really good!

Thank you! :flower3: I am excited to see what everyone's reaction is to that story

When Caitlin left off we had just enjoyed a nice lunch on the boardwalk....after our meal our room still wasn't ready so we decided to head over to Epcot.

My goal for Epcot was to accomplish 3 things...
1. Trade in Dale's Give a Day voucher and upgrade to a 7day ph with waterpark option. (this would be Caitlin's ticket as I had already purchased mine and Dale's)

2. Take advantage of our new Disney Chase debit card. That meant getting our "rewards" card and seeing the special meet and greet in Innoventions.

3. Visit Trade City USA for the pin trading event

I hoped by the time we did these things our room would be ready and we could get settled in before our dinner adr.

Let me start by saying that the walk from the bakery was under 5minutes! And that was with taking pictures along the way!! Even though I knew in my head it was a short walk, I couldn't get over how close it was!! We absolutely loved the close proximity to Epcot and took full advantage of it during our stays at both resorts :thumbsup2

Some pictures from our short walk....

I couldn't get over how few people were around!

When we got to the ticket booth I instructed Dale to give them his voucher and ask for a 1 day ticket. ( I of course had studied on the Dis how to upgrade the ticket and KNEW you had to get a 1day and then upgrade INSIDE the park.) He followed my instructions only to discover I was wrong! Which meant the Dis was WRONG! Yes kids it turns out not everything we read on the Dis is true. It turns out he was able to get his upgraded ticket right at the booth before entering the park. The voucher was worth something like $84 which was credited toward the new ticket. It was really simple (although the CM did try to talk him into taking the fast pass option instead  Yeah right)

The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes and mission #1 was accomplished :woohoo:

Time to move on to #2! Our next destination was Guest Relations at the front of the park.

On our way we passed through the UK....

Then we got our first glimpse of the (at the time) soon to be opened Hacienda de San Angel
disneysummer2010062.jpg

I love that blue tile roof! Beautiful!

As we continued on we passed our neighbor to the north....

I love how even the fencing fits the country!
disneysummer2010063.jpg

The humidity was pretty bad that day so we sat for a quick rest and were suddenly surrounded by birds and ducks!
disneysummer2010064.jpg

disneysummer2010067.jpg

They weren't afraid of people at all and were practically walking across our feet! This sort of freaked out Caitlin as she despises all birds (Donald being the exception ;))

Due to the bird invasion, our rest did not last long and we were quickly back on our feet headed to Guest Relations. When we got there we were helped by a CM from Brazil who seemed to barely speak English. (maybe not the best choice for a customer service position? just saying...) He quickly handed us a rewards card and sent us on our way. Well....It turned out he handled the rewards card wrong and it took us numerous phone calls over several days before we got those rewards :rolleyes1

Rewards card in hand (happily unaware it was a useless card) we headed for Innoventions and the Visa Meet and Greet. When we got there only 2 families were ahead of us so before we knew it we were in! We were greeted by Goofy, Mickey and Minnie. Mickey immediately started fussing over Caitlin's Dooney bag. He was pointing out all the characters and seemed to really like it. Maybe he'll get Minnie one for her birthday?
While I was busy watching the interaction between Caitlin and Mickey it turns out I should have been keeping an eye on Minnie! Unbeknownst to me, that flirtatious mouse was hitting on my husband! I later found out she was rubbing the top of his head and making kissy sounds at him! So ladies consider this a warning! Keep an eye on Minnie when she's around your husbands! :rotfl2:
(I don't have any pictures of our meet and greet but when our PP cd arrives I'll be sure to share)

At this point 2 of our 3 goals had been completed! Since we were at the front of the park we decided to ride Spaceship Earth before visiting Trade City.

**continued in next post***

Before we boarded SE we grabbed a bench and pulled out our Ipad. We had decided to make this trip a "Hidden Mickey" trip and find as many as possible. To help us in this endeavor, we had purchased the HM app so we pulled it up and then walked on (yep no line!) the ride. We were immediately seated and just as soon as we started to move we heard a voice. A deep voice, chastising us in the dark. The ominous voice reprimanded us with a stern..."NO APPLE PRODUCTS ALLOWED ON THE RIDE!!" :confused3 Huh? Ok we knew no flash photography but there is a "no apple products rule" and on a ride that has a young Steve Jobs? Who knew? Well Caitlin was both horrified and mad. Horrified because that girl believes rules are meant to be followed. She doesn't speed, jay walk...you get the picture...so the idea she broke a rule was very upsetting for her. BUT how was she going to be able to find all the HMs without using the app? So she was feeling embarassed, angry and frustrated. That first ride ended up being not too magical although she did snap some pics (and no she did not use flash)

After our ride we decided to find a bench and look up the app and read where the SE HM were and ride again and try to find them. I don't recall how many we found but we did pretty well!

We decided to head over to Trade City USA and check out the pin trading event. (for those of you who haven't heard of this before... it's basically a pin trading weekend Disney hosts yearly. It spans 3days and has a pretty big fee to get in BUT on the last day it is opened up to the public for free. They have special items to purchase and of course there is trading)

On our way to Trade City we stopped into the store in Canada. I had seen this

in March and decided to pick it up for part of my stepmother's Christmas gift. You see, she has a habit of insulting whatever I give her (I know most everyone has SOMEONE like that ) so I figured this just might beat her at her own game  If not...well I found it funny anyway!

While Caitlin was browsing she came along a pj/sweat outfit that she loved! It also happened to be on sale! ( I think maybe half off?) She picked it up and ended up loving the pants so much she got another color later on in the week.

After our shopping was done we continued onward to Trade City. Trade City was located "backstage" (just barely) sort of between the UK and the Off Kilter stage.

Mickey warmly welcomed us to the event

When we got inside the 3 of us split up. Caitlin went looking for pins and Dale and I walked around taking pictures. There were a lot of decorative displays many of which paid homage to past +/or present Disney attractions. Here's a sample....

While we were roaming we took a look at the "special items" they had for sale. Dale loved these ears but failed to convince me that any mouse ears are worth 75$

disneysummer2010246.jpg

They are cute though!

When we caught up with Caitlin she was in line (it took like 20 minutes!) for the pin trading board. Basically, you waited your turn then you got to go up to a Disney CM and pick which pin you wanted provided you gave them one in return.

Trying to decide

After Caitlin finished trading we got a text saying our room was ready! Perfect timing. So we headed back to Boardwalk and found our room but I'll let Caitlin tell you about that...next time!

Joining in!
I'm loving all the updates so far, it's such a fun trip report to read!
That's horrifying & odd about the "No Apple Products Allowed". It's horrifying because I guess they can see EVERYTHING on that ride...it's odd that they specified (maybe they have something against Apple?).

Hi! Thanks for joining us!
I'm so glad you're enjoying our TR :)

I have no idea what the problem is with Apple products. What's really odd is in March we rode Dinosaur at AK and the guy in front of us took flash pictures throughout the whole ride! When I spoke to a CM about it she said "there's nothing we can do". :confused3 So now I guess flash pics are ok but Apple products aren't?

Cute pin Caitlin. Very cute! That pin trading place looked so cool. $75 for the ears IS a bit steep.

Are you serious about the Apple warning? That was a joke, right? What did they think you were going to do with it, take pictures?????

I am such a rule breaker I would have turned that thing right back on.

Love the outfit Caitlin got in Canada. That is so super cute!!!!!! I forgot about the moose spit soap. :rotfl: Oh well, next trip!

Loved the update. Can't wait to see your room!

I am on board for this trippie! So glad I found you guys...sounds like you had loads of FUN!!! We were vacationing at the same time August 27 and returned on Sept 6th! Our split stay was AKV and BCV!!! Crowds were light and you are right....the weather was PERFECT! It just rained that one day and then again on our flight out of MCO! For August that was Amazing! It usually rains once or twice per day during this month! We lucked out! Cant wait to hear more! Oh, and BTW, how did you guys find out about Trade City...going on! My kids would have enjoyed it so much if we knew about it!

The set up for Trade City was a lot of fun. There were also tables and tables of people trading pins but didn't take any pics of them.

They were very serious about the Apple warning. Maybe we should blame Snow White  Ok bad joke but we still haven't figured out what the problem was but we didn't take it out on any other rides.

Glad you liked the update :)

What dates were you at BCV? Isn't that resort wonderful?! We really loved it!

We felt so lucky with that weather! We had packed 3 umbrellas and numerous ponchos and were so glad we never needed them! :)

I am a Disney TA so I subscribe to every Disney blog I come across. I can't recall exactly which blog it was in ( but I had read about it somewhere) and I knew we'd have to check it out since Caitlin loves pin trading. They also had tables with Vinylmation coloring sheets for the kids which the young ones looked to be enjoying :)

Glad you're joining us!

Love it and I'm in!!

I have a wonderful mom, too :cloud9::lovestruc:hug:, so I love your report!!

Glad you got to do the Visa meet and greet! It is a really nice perk of being a card holder.

OK, the whole thing with the CM saying no apple products had to be a joke! :confused3 But still, I'd be pretty embarrassed/upset too.

Yay for pin trading! Cool you got to go to the event.

Hi, first time chiming in!

I wonder if the apple thing had to do with Disney not wanting any pictures of people with apple products on disney property, esp. rides going around. Kind of like how you can't wear certain things when you pose with characters.

That's the only thing I can think of!

Thanks the Visa meet is fun and it's nice to get a picture with several characters instead of the usual single one.

They weren't joking about the Ipad. I'm not sure what they thought we were going to do with it but they seriously did not want it out. Maybe they thought the glow off it would bother someone :confused3 It was strange though!

Hi!
That could be. I honestly have no idea so I'll take any ideas people might have! :)

Thanks for reading and posting! :goodvibes
