~!Who knew you could relax in Disney?~Mother/Daughter Tr~5/2 May Trip Plans Days 5-8

Great update! I have to say Caitlin, I love those little dresses that you're wearing in the pictures - very cute park wear IMO :thumbsup2

Congrats to making it in the trailer:banana:

I tried watching it but my computer decided last week that I am on here too much and that it will punish me by killing the sound. I can't hear when I am supposed to be looking. DH is going to fix my computer this weekend end so I'll try again.

How exciting!

Great updates! I love those shots from the walk to DHS. Those couple of the entrance to the park are amazing. Have I mentioned how much I love that view? It's so cool how you can kind of see all of the fun stuff just waiting for you. Ahhhh I wish I was there right now. :goodvibes

Cute vinylmations! :) You know I like those. haha

Thank you! I love wearing dresses in the summer since they feel somewhat cooler than shorts and a t shirt. Thank you!

I hope your computer is fixed!

It is very exciting I have sort of told everyone

I love walking into the parks it seems like DHS and Epcot are you neighbors :cloud9:

Thank you! More vinylmations to come

When my lovely daughter left off we were at DHS and it was late morning....

We had a little time to kill before our lunch adr at Epcot so we decided to head over the Art of Animation Building and see a certain pink bear. As we approached, Caitlin asked if we could do the movie since we usually skip it and sneak in the "back way". We got in line and discovered that a film crew was filming to the left of the queue. We were fascinated (especially Caitlin since she spent her summer as a film extra) and enjoyed watching although there wasn't much to see since they seemed to be filming something that would have some special effects added later. Basically, all we saw was what appeared to be a janitor/handyman screwing in a lightbulb but it was fun to watch. I must admit though we kept hoping some celebrity would arrive to film:laughing: After waiting about 15minutes we decided we should skip the animation movie and just go see Lotso since we couldn't be late for our adr.

When we got inside Lotso wasn't there and his line was really long! Instead of getting in line Caitlin took a few pictures of his meet and greet spot..

She loves penguins so this caught her eye

And who doesn't love those little green army men?!

Then all of a sudden we smelled strawberries and saw this guy...
disneysummer2010325.jpg

He looks harmless and yet we know differently, don't we?!

We decided to look around the display for the upcoming movie "Tangled" and Dale took these

Ladies, is Flynn one of the cutest Disney prince's ever or what ;)
disneysummer2010330.jpg

We all enjoyed seeing the Tangled display and we're looking forward to seeing the movie as soon as it comes out!

After we'd looked around the Animation Building we decided it was time to head out to the DHS boat dock and get over to Epcot for lunch. When we got to the dock there was no boat in sight and I started getting a little nervous HOWEVER soon enough one arrived and got us to Epcot with time to spare.

Continued....

As we made our way to Norway, Caitlin got another phone call from Kuwait. She animatedly told her friend all about our morning and how she was on her way to see the princesses :)

I was really excited about this adr because, unbeknownst to Caitlin, we were going to have an early celebration of her 20th birthday. Before our trip she mentioned to me that this would be her last trip as a teenager (the thought about brought me to tears) so I thought it would be fun to have a birthday meal marking the occasion. When we got to the restaurant I surprised her with a birthday button and told her we were celebrating :)

We took some photos while we waited for our name to be called

After about 10minutes our name was called and we got to see Caitlin's favorite princess

If you've never been Akershus it is themed to be a Norwegian castle and IMO if you don't want to use 2 dining credits (or spend the $) it's a very nice alternative to Cinderella's Royal Table. (also like CRT the meal includes a nice photo packet with the meal)

When we were seated our server quickly arrived and took our drink orders. Caitlin and I both had our usual coke/diet coke and Dale ordered the Mojito. The drink was $8 and did not rank as one of the memorable ones from the trip but come on, Norway isn't really famous for Mojitos is it?

After our drinks arrived we placed our orders and then paid a visit to the cold buffet.....

We all enjoyed everything we tried and the cold foods were nice after spending the morning in the heat!

Our meals arrived not too long after we finished our appetizers.

Dale had the Mushroom Stuffed Pasta which he enjoyed

Caitlin had the open face chicken sandwich and soup which she too enjoyed.

I had the sauteed chicken breast. It was supposed to come with Risotto but being the picky eater I am, I substituted that for potatos. I loved my meal! The chicken breast was one of the tastiest I've ever had! YUM!

Of course throughout our meal we paid visits by Disney's beautiful princesses. Ariel, Snow White and Cinderella all stopped by and wished Caitlin "Happy Birthday"

After our interactions with the fair princesses, it was time for dessert. The meal includes 3 desserts which are served family style.

Dale took the chocolate one, he and Caitlin shared the rice pudding and I took the berry tart thing. As an added treat, our server brought our Birthday Princess a special treat which she loved! She also enjoyed the card signed by all the princesses.

We all really enjoyed this meal and gave it 3 thumbs up! Since the bill came to $105 (Mojito not included) it was a great use of 3 dining credits!

After our meal we walked on Maelstrom and then paid a visit to Mexico. We'll save that (and Dale's new numero uno drink) for next time :)

Yay for the update!

Very nice use of the hat in the trailer PC! :thumbsup2 DH has NEVER seen any of the Scream movies :scared1: but I'm taking him to this one. Glad you had such a great time being an extra!

Nice pictures of the Norway restaurant. I wish we could go, but DD is only 1 and wouldn't understand what's going on. Guess we'll have to go back when she's older! :rotfl2:

Do you ever wonder if the people playing the princesses stand with their hands out in the real world? Almost seems like it'd be second nature after doing it all day long every day.

Glad you at least got to smell and see Lotso in passing!

I can't wait for Tangled either! and Lotso looks so sweet and cuddly...if only we had known (we saw him pre-Toy Story 3 release!) :upsidedow

Wonderful review of Akershus! This is on my must-do list for next time. I have heard over and over how it is a nice (and more affordable) alternative to CRT. Your pictures were some of the best I have seen so it really adds to my excitement for next time!! :goodvibes

I was glad to see the photos and review of Akershus since we have an evening ADR there. I am a bit nervous of the food there as the menu is not typically my norm. But we didn't want to use up 2 TS for CRT, especially if Lily ends up to not be as into characters as she was in April. So far it's still in our list.

The meet and greet area for Lotso is so cute!

How was lunch at Akershus?
We always go for breakfast and love it - much better than CRT.
But the lunch and dinner menus always seemed to eclectic for the little ones.
I remember I had dinner there way back before the princesses invaded and loved it but the menu seems to have changed some.

New favorite drink? - sounds like someone found the ditch! ;)

Great update. Fun meal. What a nice way to celebrate Caitlin's big 2 - 0! And the food looks really delicious. Lunch sounds like the way to go at Askerhaus.

I saw TS3, but I still don't know why Lotso smells like strawberries - I must have missed that part!

Sounds like you guys had a great lunch! I love the idea of Akershus, but not so much the food :confused3

Caitlin had a blast working as an extra over the summer and seeing her in a movie trailer was surreal :) I've never seen any of the Scream movies either but we'll be there for the first showing of this one

Definitely give Akershus a try when your baby is older!

Between the voices and the hand gestures they are probably an odd bunch :rotfl:

I'm glad you liked the pictures from Akershus. Caitlin had planned to do a food report so she took a lot! I hope you enjoy your meal there as much as we did :)

I was really nervous about the menu but we all enjoyed our food. When I asked to switch the potatoes for the risotto there was no problem so don't worry about making a special request :)

I'm sure Lily will really enjoy the princesses! :goodvibes

We've enjoyed the breakfasts there too and had stayed away from other meals due to the menu. We found the lunch menu to have something that appealed to each of us and we were all pleased with our selections.

We were seated very near the cold bar and the kids seemed to go mostly for the cold cuts and cheese.

Very good (and correct) guess Mary Ellen :thumbsup2

We enjoyed our lunch and since I'm such a picky eater that's a pretty big endorsement

How neat about getting to see the film crew at Animation. Now I'm intregued as to what it was for.

Akerhaus looks like a beautiful restaurant, and the food looks good too. I've always been apprehensive about it since the food never sounded appealing, but it does in your review. It still isn't near the top of my list for restaurants to try next, but it's at least good to know that it's good enough to be a possibility someday.

A few years ago we saw Brenda Song, from the Disney Channel show The Suite Life, taping a Disney365 segment in front of the castle at the MK so we thought we had stumbled across something like that. We kept thinking "someone" famous would appear but no such luck. It was fun to see something out of the ordinary anyway.

We went mainly for the princesses but we were very pleasantly surprised by the meal :)
