Who Knew We Were Virginians?

I wouldn't forget you! I'm thinking us 3 ( ok, 6 with the girls) would cut quite a path through Disney, leaving those behind us wondering what just happened. LOL

I'll be honest, you couldn't get me on those coasters for all the puppy eyes in the world! I though EE was tough, I'm feeling sick just looking at those twisty things!

The place would never be the same. We could go during Halloween and the 3 of us could be Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. Kadence and Claire could be pink and blue Aurora, and Katie would be Maleficent.

See? Planning done. ;)

I used to say Katie would not do the big coasters. But then Drew took her to Worlds of Fun (our local theme park) with the softball team last year and apparently she rode every single big coaster. Now I don't think they're as big as the ones Jen just posted.... but they are bigger than Disney coasters.

Now that's a great idea! I'm going to buy a lotto ticket right now!
Kadence just acted like she fainted because its such a good idea. LOL

From where we were standing, there were like 2 or 3 maybe even 4 rollercoasters intertwining and I really couldn’t tell you what was what. We just watched for a while in awe…but none of us had the single urge to ride one.

Monster coasters aren’t everyone’s coup of tea, but I can help you with a couple of names here for the one or two folks that might be interested. You are correct in that there are three of them all kind of intertwined here which makes the “Scotland“ area of the park a really cool spot for pictures…

The yellow coaster dominating the image is called “The Loch Ness Monster” and is now the grand old veteran of the park. The one on the far left (white track and aqua supports) is “Alpengeist”; an inverted coaster and our personal favorite here. The big loop in the back (blue track and white supports) is part of “The Griffon”; the newest one of this bunch with nearly 90-degree main drops built into it.

The other one you saw during the river cruise is called “Verbolten”

This one had just opened up when we were there last and it breakdown so often that we never got on it. I’m sure that all the bugs have since been worked out but we were disappointed not to be able to test that one out.

The river cruise was something else we never got around to, so I was really glad to see your pictures of it here. And speaking of pictures, this update is again filled with some absolutely amazing shots. You do very good work. This one here is the kind of thing that advertiser and magazines would actually pay a photographer for (and pay them well for that matter)…

Nice work!
And a great update!

Don't forget me! I'd fit right in too!

Jen, those are some crazy big coasters. I love coasters, but I haven't ever done any of the really big ones. I love all the ones at Disney, but that's probably my limit.

Are they all really intertwined, or did it just look that way in the photos?

Yes, they appeared to intertwine. I know Cedar Point has some that kind of weave through the others too, though it's been a while since I rode any of the big ones there and they have been moving things around in the park to make room for it's growth. One of the simpler ones there was taken out this year for a new ride. it wasn't a great ride, but one that Claire could go on.

That would be so much fun!!!!

Joining in! I live 15 minutes from Williamsburg, so it's kind of fun seeing the area from someone else's point of view!

You should have gone in Yankee Candle. It's a pretty cool place!

Welcome. I will love to hear what you hav to say too. I am sure I will call things wrong, or toured incorrectly at times. :lmao:

Ok, SOLD. When do we book this trip? If course we could stay in that HUGE AK villa that my friend Ellen had too...right?

I have a ticket in my purse I haven't checked, but I am sure if someone local won recently, I would've heard about it by now.

Thanks for explaining it all. I would probably actually do the Alpengeist. I like the inverted coasters. Cedar Point has one call the Raptor and I still ride that evey so often.
I enjoy taking pictures and I had a new lens with me that was more of an all in one type lens and it really worked well for me.

I had to smile at the name of this boat attraction. I grew up very close to the Rhine Valley and I can assure you it looks nothing like this. One would think that they would add at least a few models of the castles. The could even do miniature castles like they have at the Storyland Canal Boats at Disneyland.

Exactly. I wish it had some themed props along the route.

Loved seeing pics of Busch Gardens. I haven't been there in about 17 years. The coasters brought back some nice memories. I never ride them but our very first trip was over 20 years ago when my youngest was about 18 months old. I think they only had the Loch Ness Monster that trip. My baby sobbed because she wasn't allowed to ride it. II had a major dare devil on my hands.

Looking forward to more of you TR. I just got home today from Williamsburg and I have to say it was one of the worst trips of my life. It was hot as hades, my DH got sick and our traveling companions complained about EVERYTHING!!!!! I'm hoping you had a much etter trip.

Oh no!!!!! I was told going in the summer is awful. It seems to be extremely hot and humid. We had complainers, but nothing I couldn't deal with. :rotfl:

Hot and humid is putting it mildly. We hit 100 degrees I think with 100% humidity. I'll pack extra clothes next time. I was drenched. I knew I would have complaints based on previous trips but they were bad this year. I was glad I got a couple of hours to myself. It definitely helped.

I have been to Williamsburg twice in August, stupidest thing to do ever! One year they were having a record heat wave, the temp was 105degrees with high humidity. It was murder, glad I pack extra as we sure went through lots of clothing changes!

I've never been to Bucsh Gardens in Williamsburg, just Tampa. It was great as they gave away glasses of beer!

My sister is a complainer, but i am good at ignoring her after so many years, but it's different when it's a sister verses a friend.

LOL.
I am glad we went when we did then! :thumbsup2 I got free beer at Busch in Tampa too.

We moved on and you would not believe how steep the hill was that we had to climb. Golly Gee! It was hard work and we were all huffing and puffing after that climb.
Of course Claire was in the best shape and young with energy, so she made it to the top first.

We had heard from some Team Members that many scooters cannot make it up that hill, they run out of power, or just don’t have enough to get up it. I don’t know why I didn’t take a picture.

We came to the Land of Dragons.

And I don’t think we even ever walked further back to see what was there? I did coax Claire into getting a picture, but she would only do it with my Mom. I took about 3 and all were over exposed, so this is the best one I could get darkened.

We kept moving as we were hungry and in search of food. Amanda said to head towards the Germany area as there were places there.

No food in sight, but my family can’t resist going into a shop.

Claire found a necklace she liked and purchased that with some of her money.

Again we went in search of food.

I finally grabbed the map and found Amanda was leading us in the wrong direction, so we turned around.

Goodness, finding some lunch turned into a real challenge. I love the flowers though.

Corinna

I want to WI Dells a few weeks back, and the Mt Olympus park had a steep hill like that. It was all I could do to get up it at the end of the day, and my calfs were screaming at me the next day.
Kadence suffered not a bit. Ahh, to be young again.

Beautiful flowers all around.

You had to be just starving!

I was starting to get snappy too. When I need food...I need IT! :)

I remember when I was young and could bounce all over. I used to do cartwheels all over the house all day long and never get tired. ::yes::
Those days are long gone.

And this is exactly why I have to venture away from my subbed TRs every once and awhile.

You DID do a Williamsburg trip report. I am SO in! :cool1:

OMG - so your dad decides to come with you the morning of? What? :faint: Glad he made it there OK.

The resort looks beautiful.

I only live about 225 -250 miles north of Williamsburg ( less as the crow flies) so it always amazes me that the climate there is much more hospitable in the spring than it is here. I love how they already had an open outdoor pool.

That last coaster - the lochness monster (I think) is the originally looping coaster there (the yellow/green one) and you literally feel every bump. It's a headache waiting to happen.

There is a new coaster there that I haven't tried and I won't get on the Griffin for fear that I might not make it to the end. But I love the other too.

Pictures are wonderful as usual.

I did! But Only a few weeks ago. And I am going slow...very slow.
I would probably go more often if I was closer, but the drive is too long and the flight is a long day too.
Thats another reason I don't do many coasters either. I get horrid headaches on a normal day, so extra bumps would not help at all. There is one at Cedar Point that is so bumpy...has been since the day it was built and I always felt like you were going to fly off the track at any second. And I always walked off with a headache too...and backache ...and neckache. :lmao::lmao:
