Trying to book a week stay in January for DD 4th b-day.
Need a 2 bdrm.
REALLY wanted BLT - no luck.

Only resort available for the entire week is OKW.

What would you do?
Stay there and/or waitlist...???

Would really like BWV - standard room, but would be happy with AKV - should I waitlist??? Or be happy at OKW???

Is there another option?
Ideas?

I'd take OKW. The old saying about a bird in the hand... Besides OKW really is nice, just not over the top Disney themed. I find it more relaxing.

DVC is almost always hard to get 3 months out. Keep checking online. I just found out 2 weeks ago that my November trip dates had to change due to work, I waitlisted 5 nights (BWV garden view studio). I kept checking online and last week nights 3 to 5 were available, so I booked it. Today I saw night 2 available and booked it. So I changed my waitlist to only night 1. I have all 5 nights booked on an AP rate, I have to change it before 7 days, hoping that night 1 will come through and I'll just cancel it.

I'd jump on that OKW and count myself lucky. If you must waitlist something else go ahead but if it doesn't come through, well, you'll still be at WDW. OKW is pretty awesome though.

what would be best to wait list...

AKV - Kidani or Jambo? Lock off??
BWV - Standard?

I have stayed at all of these resorts before and really prefer BWV, but I am feeling like there is a 0% chance to get the full week there...

Thanks

I cannot speak to the AKV options (other than value rooms are very tough to get) because I have never waitlisted there. I think BWV standard is going to be very tough. I would think there are quite a few people ahead of you on the waitlist. If you were waitlisting pool/garden at BWV you might have a chance.

I was SO hoping someone would give me hope on the BWV, but as I suspected...it would be a LOOONNNGGG shot...drat!

Sorry, I was on the waitlist for 6 months and 3 weeks for a 2 bedroom standard at BWV for the 3rd week of September and it never came through. Was able to get a garden view at 7 months though.

You could still waitlist but don't hold your breath. Good luck.

Sorry, I was on the waitlist for BWV standard last January (the last week of the month) and it never came through. I got on the waitlist at the 7 month mark. This year I booked BWV at the 11 month window and glad I did as most of my days were long gone before the 7 month window even opened. There was alot of availability at other resorts at the 7 month window, but not now. Good luck--it never hurts to waitlist though.

One item of misfortune you may have experienced is that two days ago a Kidani 2BR savanna view was still open for the last two weeks of January and when I look today, three of the nights are full. Your lowest chance of having a wait list come through is BWV standard or AKV value. AKV savanna view at Kidani probably has the highest chance (not a lock-off as those have higher demand than the dedicateds including because the lock-offs can be a studio or 1BR, and thus you would also be competing with a studio and 1BR wait list). You can have two wait lists and a second might be BWV pool/garden view (65% of all rooms at BWV) or a BLT lake view dedicated 2BR. In any event you should reserve OKW immediately if you have not already done so if you want to make sure you have a room.

I think you have a decent chance for pool/garden view. As I said, I was just able to piece together 4 of 5 nights for next month. Keep watching the website rather than wait for the waitlist.

OKW is great . I just stayed there in august for week and loved every minute of it.

I did book OKW....

renting points this time so I won't have the ability to "stalk" the website, which I would totally do...I LLOOVVEE BWV!!

I think I will waitlist AKV Jambo house - dedicated....

Thanks for the help :)

You don't have to worry on that waitlist.

It will never come in. There are no dedicated two bedroom villas a Jambo House.

Stayed at OKW last NYE trip, and it was pretty awesome! I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

You can wait list a dedicated 2BR only at AKV Kidani, Jambo has only lock-offs. Though AKV Kidani would probably give you highest chance, BWV pool/garden will probably be a close second and if you really want BWV I would make that a wait list choice. Again, you can have two wait lists put in.

I meant 1 bdrm dedicated...Kidani, sorry...sheesh!

I figure I will be happy either way.

Thanks for all of the advice :)

You know? This is a great example of why they make Fords and Chevys.

I would have waitlisted Kidani for any number of reasons. Why? Sheer likelihood of it coming through just based on the number of rooms to pick from. But then again, we prefer living at Kidani. Hands-down. Not even close.

We love to walk over to the "big house" as we call it and shop and eat and walk around, but we like going back to the much more relaxed feel of Kidani where we can look back and go, "Ahhh... home again."

Maybe it's because that's the first place we bought in and it just feels like home, but I attribute it to the fact that it doesn't feel like a big hotel like Jambo does, even thought it is significantly bigger in footprint.

I guess that's why they make vanilla and chocolate. More vanilla for us. Yea us! :thumbsup2

I'm confused. If you are renting (someone else's) points can you waitlist anything? I thought the member you are renting from had control of the reservation, not the renter. What if the resort you are waitlisting has higher or lower point requirements?

You are correct. The member must agree to waitlist the new reservation AND have the points needed if it requires more points. And then the non-member has to agree to pay the increase if more points are needed. Most members probably won't do it.
