Read this article in today's New York Times, it lamented the passing of several prominent folks in 2010, and wistfully recalled the belief in the 50's that anyone in America could achieve anything if they just worked hard enough. They linked to an amateur home movie called Disneyland Dream made by the Barstow family in 1956 about how they won a trip from their home in CT to Disneyland--as I understand it, Mr. Barstow added the commentary in 1995. It's like a video trip report, but watching scenes of America in 1956 (i.e., the airplanes, the cars, the park rides, the fashions, etc.) was fascinating!

The article by Frank Rich:

Direct link to the film (30 min long):

Enjoy!
