Who is your favorite TV chef and what's your favorite recipe from them?

I agree, she used to be more about the cooking but then her newer shows seemed more focused on her as some kind of celebrity. Did she leave FoodNetwork for some other show?
Yes she left for Amazon!

I did continue to like a good amount of her recipes especially as Jade grew older and she was able to expand a bit more.

Same. I was already annoyed by her constantly rolling dough in her super low cut tops. (The only reason my husband watched her show with me. 😂) But also she just because increasingly off-putting.

That said, I learned how to make the perfect meatballs and sauce from scratch from Giada so can’t knock her. I also love her zucchini al forno and make it all the time. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/verdure-al-forno-recipe-1941201
Exactly! There are some amazing things I learned to make from her!

I am a huge fan of The Pioneer Woman and I have three cookbooks of her and some copies of her The Pioneer Woman magazine and Ree Drummond is such a delight and is always smiling and my mom actually learned how to make perfect refried beans from an episode of The Pioneer Woman I saw and The Pioneer Woman is also my role model too because I love cooking too. My mom is also a fan of Julia Child and when she was a teen Mom would watch her show The French Chef just to see what amazing recipes Julia Child cooked and now my mom is collecting Julia Child cookbooks and just likes Julia's unique style to cooking

Fun fact about the Pioneer Woman: Her husband is one of the richest landowners in the country. So, I have a hard time believing her down-home schtick. I still love her mashed potatoes though. Lol.

Excerpt about her husband…

In 2013, Modern Farmer placed the Drummond Family on its list of America's 100 top landowners. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Drummonds own 433,000 acres of land in Oklahoma. In addition to the money made by cattle, part of that land is rented to the U.S. government to allow wild burros and horses to roam on it. The cost to the U.S. government is about $2 million a year.

Between land, cattle, horses, and part ownership of some of the Pioneer Woman's stores and ventures, Ladd Drummond is worth an estimated $200 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
I know, I love when she says "Oh I gotta go into town for a big shop." Lady, you have enough money to have people do that for you. :P Or when she complains about being so far out in the country and not having anything around - again, like she can't hire people to go get stuff for her.

I still watch her show, though. :D

Same and as I said earlier her line of pans is awesome

I love all the chefs. I think I watch cooking shows 99% of the time. I can't say I have a favorite recipe, though. I get most of my recipes from AllRecipes. The site has the kind of food my family eats with just enough more daring dishes to get them to try. I also collect vintage cookbooks from the fifties and sixties.
This, mostly. I watch a ton of cooking shows and have gotten so much great information on technique and inspiration for menu ideas! Rarely though do I ever use their actual recipes - I just do a general google for whatever I’m thinking and find one that way. AllRecipes comes up a lot, as well as Taste of Home and Delish.

What we do LOVE doing though is finding celebrity chef restaurants in cities we visit. If they are vaguely affordable and we can get a reservation, we always do it at least once during every vacation. We also try to find a DDD location for breakfast when we’re in the States.

Do you like the food better or the general atmosphere associated with that chef? I would imagine they lend their name/likeness to the restaurant and perhaps made a few suggestions for menu items.

I guess it depends on timing as in did the restaurant come first or the show. Like with Guy Fieri’s restaurants he became popular on the food network and now just lends his likeness to restaurants all over tarnation. The food is meh.

In the case of a new show on the Food Network about the Fang family in San Francisco, Peter Fang has been a legend for decades. Sadly, I don’t think that comes across well in the show. Tried to watch it, but his daughter is annoying. I have to say though that the one time we ate at his restaurant in SF it was incredible. He was there and came over and took our menus away when he heard we were first timers. He just kept sending out courses of food for us to try. Best meal ever.

I’ve never heard of Peter Fang and now I’m very curious. Very similar to Michael D. Symon (my friend and her family frequent his Atlantic City restaurant often and he does very similar things)

:goodvibes Really, it's just more of a lark. We've definitely never seen the actual celebrity chef at any of them, nor would we expect to because lots of them are chains/franchises now (like Gordon Ramsey, Tom Colicchio and Emeril Lagasse, just to name a few).

Wow ...3 pages and NO Lidia Bastianich love?!?! 😭 I think the Community Forum just "Jumped the Shark"

We did go to her son's restaurant in LA and LOVED the food there...Joe Bastianich (Osteria Mozza). He has been a judge on MasterChef forever. He basically gives the credit for his success to his mom. :lovestruc

Jamie Oliver is quite annoying, but I make his watermelon gazpacho constantly in summer.

Does anyone remember when The Frugal Gourmet was huge? Jeff Smith was a talented chef and he really taught you the ABC's of great food and my aunt has some of his cookbooks too. Recently my mom and I have discovered a show called Pati's Mexican Table on PBS and Pati travels to different parts of Mexico to learn about unique Mexican food beyond tacos and burritos and is a really cool show and I do recommend you see it at least once to learn about different styles of Mexican food

We have his 1984 cookbook -- was my husband's before we got married. Some great introduction into international food well before the Internet and Google.

I loved his show. He always signed off with “I bid you peace” at the end of every show.

His show was canceled when he was accused of abuse. Not sure what became of him after that.
