Who is planning on being in Disneyland 7/17/2015?

The surprise 7am morning was fabulous! We did Matterhorn twice, Space, Buzz, Nemo, Alice and teacups with barely any lines.

It definitely got busier after the speech at 10am. We are managing the afternoon well with FPs, etc. I am back on my Ridemax plans and things are going well.

Our morning has been amazing! We LOVED getting in at 7am, what a treat! Then we rode Indu, Pirates, HM, Splash, Winnie the Pooh, Gadget Coaster, Roger Rabbit and It's a Small world, all walk-ons!

Blue Bayou for lunch right as the crowds hit.

We're currently holding spots on Main Street for the parade (we're taking shifts with half our group). Been an amazing day so far!

We were there around 7:45 and it was a breeze getting in. Walked from PPH through Grand to DTD, no lines or over crowding. Rode several rides and enjoyed Breakfast with Minnie and watched the ceremonies from the patio there. A special day! Now taking a break. The hotels have cupcakes too.

I didn't go into the parks today but still got some Disney magic . Had lunch at Earl's (coupon for 5.95 sandwich/chips/drink) then was told they were still giving out cupcakes at the Grand. So I stayed to enjoy a cupcake and participated in the toast to Disneyland with some sparkling apple cider the staff passed out. Happy Bday Disneyland and hope everyone is having a wonderful time!

Who's coming to the DIS meet???

I didn't know there was going to be a DIS meet. Maybe I'll make it to the 70th anniversary DIS meet in ten years time.

We got into Disneyland just before 8am today. I didn't stop to introduce myself, but I believe I saw you and your family sitting on the North side of the castle shortly after 8am.

I was a little disappointed that Disney didn't give away ears or something better than the buttons to mark the 60th Anniversary but I still had a great time. I too was able to jump on rides with little or no wait for most of the morning. I was happy to say I was at Disneyland during the official 60th Anniversary.

I don't know about the other locations, but the Magic Eye Theater finished distributing cupcakes around 10:15 pm. So at least they had enough cupcakes to last through most of the day!

We gave up at 11:30pm after a final ride on Radiator Spring Racers. We switched to DCA at about 5ish and it was so much more relaxed there after the crush in DL all day. Had an awesome evening with lots of rest time as well. Watched the 10:15pm WOC. Very uncrowded. Got in line with our yellow FPs at 9:20pm and was about 20-30 ppl back. Ended up choosing to be in the centre area at the top of the stairs with plenty of space to sit and stretch out before the show. Was too late to be in the very wet zone.

Throughout the day, we got 3 of the special diamond photo spots and then plenty of regular PP locations.

Our very first day in the parks and our very first family visit to DLR...had an awesome time. Felt like we have done a LOT...even though we were very relaxed and easy (my body is still recovering from my long hike in the Sequoia a few days ago).

We arrived in the park around 9am yesterday and yes it was packed. Around 4pm we were noticing how the crowds seemed to be thinning but the DGS was tired so @ 6pm we called it a day. After we showered and ate I decided to go back alone, around 7:30pm I was surprised at how short all the lines were. I walked all around and at 8:30 found a spot out by ISW to watch the parade. I had a perfect view and I did not have to wait. After the parade I found the masses of people on Main Street. It took about 45 minutes to get out of the park.

We also had no lines for Cupcakes! We actually walked right up 3 different times.

On a good note today we are getting all kinds of rides in with little wait.

My guess for crowds today is that there have been scattered thunder storms in LA / OC, which means most of locals usually don't hit up the parks.

Yesterday was amazing!! I hope everyone had a great time

We got there at about 6:45, walked right through security and into the parks. We took some photos in front, walked in and took some photos with our special edition newspaper in front of the fire station w/ Walt's Apt above and then headed down Main St, which was a blast seeing all the CM's and meeting Chef Oscar! We walked on all the rides in Tomorrowland and moved onto Fantasyland, we had everything done, including a snack, except Nemo & Matterhorn by 9:45 when we went on our Discover the Magic tour. What a treat seeing Richard Sherman, I had goosebumps listening to him speak, it was so sweet!! We did our tour/treasure hunt until about 12:45, we got to back-door Pirates, JC, Buzz and got a private meet w/ Mickey. In Toontown we got frozen apple juice and an anytime/anywhere FP. We had lunch, grabbed our cupcake and did Splash w/ our FP, went on Pooh and then headed back to the hotel. When we got back we did Indy (got out FP earlier) dinner at Carnation Cafe, then HM, Big Thunder, IASW, and few other things. We watched Paint The Night and fireworks and headed back to the hotel. It was a great day and I'm looking forward to the 70th now!!! We also did a few of the special photo ops, but the lines were pretty long for our taste for photos, we were super happy with the buttons and the ones we did get to do.

We were there Thursday and it was a mad house. They expected the park to close for capacity yesterday, anyone know if it did? (We spent the day on a thrill ride called "turbulent airplane ride" )

No, as far as I know, DL never got close to capacity. I asked a guest services CM about the crowds and she said it was a little busier than a typical July Friday, but it wasn't all that bad. To me, the 8:50 pm parade route and fireworks viewing area were busy, but far less impacted than on the 24-hout day. As I walked around the park, you could see open areas in walkways and the lines were long, but not awful (except Peter Pan, which was 90 minutes during midday!).

We were a bit worried that DL was going to reach capacity but we ended up going back to our room (BWPPI) twice to get changed and had no issues getting back into the park. It was a great day and we were happy to be there for 60th. We rode a few rides in the morning with no waits, some in the afternoon and evening with minimal waits. And we were glad that we made a reservation for a late lunch at the Big Thunder BBQ. We got emotional during the fireworks because we felt pretty lucky to be in DL on this special day

Really regret not watching PTN and fireworks on Friday! We have been rained out on both Sat and Sun. Crossing our fingers for Mon and Tues.

I saw it a couple times and found it was easy to get great seats with little wait at the second show near small world. We easily got a bench.

Did anyone try the Hidden Mickey Quest? I bought both maps and have to admit that I found them to be pretty hard! Unlike the egg-hunt, some/many of the Hidden Mickeys are actually in attractions (so you have to ride the ride!) and I wasn't able to spot most of them! (Plus it's hard to read the clues/multiple choice answers in the attraction!) It was cute, but I bet it was pretty frustrating to a lot of folks.

I just read something about that the other day -- that some of the clues are inside the rides. I take it that these are the hidden Mickeys that have been there for years anyway (not new ones, in other words)? I know where some of the on-ride HMs are without the Quest, as well as where some of the ones outside of rides (and outside of the parks) are located -- but I don't know if the ones that I already know are included in the Quest. They may not be. I want to do the Quest, though, so hopefully I won't have to ride something I don't like just to find a HM!

They were not necessarily the "well-known" ones, like the three dishes in the ballroom scene of the Haunted Mansion. Some seemed pretty obscure to me...and they were scattered among a wide variety of attractions. The clues indicated that the hidden Mickeys are either in the attraction or somewhere in the queue, with a few being out in the open/easy-access areas. The attractions include Roger Rabbit Car-Toon Spin, Mickey's Movie Bar (the Mickey M&G in Toontown), It's a Small World, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Big Thunder, PotC, the train, Space Mtn (queue), Winnie the Pooh, Mater (queue), Sky School (queue), Monsters Inc.

I think the biggest issue is that they aren't necessarily the ones that are clearly deliberately placed Hidden Mickey's. For example, this is one of the clues:

While you're refueling at Redd Rockett's Pizza Port, journey on over to the vintage poster featuring Adventures Thru Inner Space to find this classic character. Where can you find this Mickey?
a) Formed by three circular bursts in the top center
b) Within one of the bean-shaped ride vehicles
c) Made up of adjacent dots within the largest green burst.

The poster is shown in this entry on the Steve Barett's Hidden Mickey site, but it's not clear if the answer ("a") is the same one he's featuring (which is described as "middle right") and even he describes it as an "approximate" hidden Mickey. I had honestly expected the answers to be the ones that are clearly correctly proportioned (i.e., the ones that you know the Imagineers deliberately placed). I didn't expect them to all be the easy ones that everyone knows, but I figured they'd be mostly ones that a gust would say, "of course!" once they see it and not "I guess that's it" even after seeing it. It's a fun concept, but I don't know if it'll be really popular (i.e., I didn't see a lot of guests carrying around the quest booklet).
