Who is destashing in 2010?

Went through part of the pantry. Found some expired things, made a mental note not to buy them again, since they didn't get eaten the last time. Also found some found we will not eat, and gave it away before it ends up expired, too! That process made me feel good.

Have errands to run today, but hoping to get something accomplished when I get back.

My destashing is almost complete. We had a yard sale last weekend and we made......drum doll please....3,200.00. We are having yard sale number 2 starting tomorrow. I have all the tables set up. All the stuff ready. As Friday stuff sells I will add more. I have 3 more rooms to do. They will be for Saturday. We are moving Sunday and we have until Tuesday to be done with the house we are in.

There is nothing like a move to make you go throuh all your stuff.

I destashed a novel that I finished reading Friday night (Black Order) and 6 graphic novels that I read today that I decided that I don't need to keep any longer. Right now, I am working on trying to get rid of books that I need to read first that I am pretty sure that I won't be keeping after reading. This process takes a while:rotfl2:

Also, got rid of 4 movies that my son and I rewatched earlier this week before getting rid of them (spidey, spidey 2, X-men, and X-men 2)

We are comic book junkies here at my house!!

So not a lot this weekend but at least it was something (every little bit helps). I am going to try and get more done this upcomming week.

Sold another small pile of comic books:cool1:

Found a box of comic book promo items from the early 90's (This box has been through 4 moves with us and I just came across it!!) All the items were promptly sold on a comic book website that I am a memeber of:thumbsup2

More stuff gone from the house, not a lot but again at least it was something.

How is eveyone else doing with their destashing?

Cleaned out the pantry, found way too much stuff to throw out. Why DH needs 6 different boxes of Shake n' Bake I don't know. :rolleyes1 Also, just because something is BOGO, doesn't mean we need to buy double the amount. BOGO at our grocery stuff means each item is half price; I need to be better about buying only enough to get us through until the item goes on sale again instead of stockpiling too much and then having to toss expired items.

We also donated another 3 cases of books and 2 bags of clothes to Goodwill. I figure that if I haven't missed them packed away in a box since we moved, I really didn't need them. Hopefully after this winter I'll be able to winnow more items that didn't get worn out of my closet. DD starts school on Monday, so I'll be tackling her room when I don't have her 'help'. I also went though my stockpile of school supplies and gave all of the extras that I know we won't use this year to DD's teacher. Getting there slowly but surely. :goodvibes

I took 5 big bags of clothes & 3 little boxes of misc to Goodwill Tuesday. Felt good to get it out! And it gave us enough room that we could move around the remaining garage stuff to fit in DD's car during a storm that night.

I de-cluttered the fridge on Sunday. Took everything out, washed all the shelves, tossed icky stuff. It looks so nice in there now! I need to do the freezer and will try to get to that this weekend.

I need to list a few things on CL and rearrange the garage stuff. I'm losing steam on areas to declutter but have several half finished projects I need to complete. I still feel like there are things that don't have homes so I guess I need to look at some spaces with fresh eyes.

Candles. And candle holders. WHY do I have so many???????

Got rid of two boxes of "stuff" (including candle holders. Really, why do I have so many!?!)

Yesterday I destashed 2 sets of sheets that the boys dont use. One set is very childish, some flannel lined jeans, misc clothing and several baseball caps that the younger one doesnt wear.

Have a TON of Christmas wrap, thinking I dont need as much as I have especially as for Christmas this year the boys will be 16 and 19 :scared1: They are not getting the amount of gifts they used to. Well the $ amount is more but the number of gifts have greatly been reduced!:santa:

I straighten up my dresser drawers on Sunday:

Got rid:

4 T-Shirts that I have never worn (all were free from charity participation)
2 Shorts that were extremely ratty (amazing what lurks at the bootom of a drawer)

Got rid of 2 more books and about a dozen comic books over the weekend for on-line sales:cool1:

I wonder what else I can get rid of today?

Just got rid of another 60 comic books for 60.00 dollars:cool1:

I really need to get rid of more but I'll take what I can:goodvibes

less comics means more room, less stuff, and more money for WDW

Thanks for keeping this thread going and providing inspiration.

I have been working on clearing out the new baby's room. Found lots of trash and lots of things that needed to be put away in their proper home. Have started a donation bag, too. I used to use this room as a sewing room. I found a quilt top that I had started a couple years ago. Hoping to finish it and give it to my parents for Christmas. This is working out quite well.
Also, sold a few more things on Amazon, so that's good. I have been turning those sales dollars into Disney gift cards.

Keep up the good work, and thanks again for the inspiration!!!

Seansmom- I got rid of two boxes of candle stuff four years ago and I don't miss them one bit. Now that was a waste of money. I donated the holders, but threw the candles away.

Pantry people LOL! - I'm going through my pantry again yesterday and today. What a mess with the paper products. I'm trying to organize my cookbooks better. Will have to go buy a container to store those small grocery store ones. I can actually find my food now instead of buying 2 more because I thought we were all out.

I'm still going through my storage containers which seem to multiply. I love those lock n lock containers, but storing them is a complete nightmare. I love those Rubbermaid ones with the burgandy tops that store under the container themselves. Those are keepers! :thumbsup2

Way to go! Now, I need you to talk my DH into selling his. I think I'd have to walk over his dead body to do it though. ;)

Cleaned out 2 of the kids dresser drawers. Got rid of clothes too small and put in school clothes. Cleaned up crawl space. I just tossed toys that I had gotten from Target's toy clearance down there and I had no clue what I had. So I hid the gifts for the kids and organized what is left. I also cleaned out and organized the camper. While I was doing that I took things that were brought into the house that are supposed to be in the camper and put them back in the camper. I hope to finish last child's dresser drawers this week and work on our bedroom this weekend.

The boy scouts are having a garage sale in 2 weeks.

I am purging more now!

Dawn

Jumping on the bandwagon a little late...

DD is one now, so I just got rid of 9, yes 9, GIANT bags of baby clothes, some of my clothes and misc. to goodwill. I have another tote of super nice baby clothes to give to my friend who is pregnant. I gave away a jumparoo too to a lady from our church. I am taking a swing to our church to donate tomorrow. We also just got rid of a desk we don't use.

I feel a little pain from each of these (mostly the 'my baby is growing up pain') The rooms in our house are getting closer to being able to put everything away now, so that is good.

I actually took the time yesterday (better part of an entire day) to put up all of the trim work and moldings that have been stained and sitting on my front porch for the better part of a year. Now the Living room is completly finished and looks great!!! and there are no more building materials sitting on my porch.:goodvibes

It's not too late! Isn't it amazing how much stuff one little person can create! lol Good for you for clearing stuff out.

I went through DD's dresser yesterday and mostly just sorted stuff out. There are still piles in the garage that should be cleared out. I need to get past the thought of "well, maybe this will sell" and just get rid of stuff. I have a few things on CL with no responses. I refuse to do another yard sale so maybe I will just load up stuff today & remove it before I change my mind again.

Just found out that our city is having another city wide garage sale mid September. I am hoping DH can get off work to help me run it. If not, I will just donate the stuff. But earning some extra WDW $ would be great. We have some furniture and excercise equipment to sell, so that should bring in some decent money at the garage sale.
I would like to try CL but I am scared. I know the incidence of problems is limited and you can protect yourself by being smart about it, but I'm just nervous.

We've been getting rid of junk lately, as we've been having 2 full cans each trash day. We used to only have one. I feel like I am beginning to see the efforts paying off. The house is definately less cluttered. :cool1:
