Who is counting down to Aulani?

We just arrived at Aulani today! This place is amazing! Everything is just beautiful. Tonight we watched the outdoor family movie, "Hocus Pocus," and then enjoyed the fireside storytelling with Uncle. Winded the evening down on a beach chair in the moonlight listening to the ocean. Such fun!

Hey there! We arrive next week. How is the weather? And do you know if they sell Aulani autograph books in the store?

We joined DVC this past summer. Our first visit was to Kidani in early October. Aulani is our home resort, and we will be there in 88 days for a 10 day visit. We are booked in a studio with an ocean view. :beach:

Count me in!!! On May 13th I'm flying to LA and staying for 3 days at GCV while I take my mom on her FIRST visit to Disneyland, and then we're flying to Oahu for 14 glorious days at Aulani! I was there over two years ago, but she didn't get to go with me, so I'm really excited for her to stay at Aulani. I know she'll love it!

I ended up buying first class tickets since we're flying from the east coast and that flight back will be fairly long. I would have paid more for economy plus seating anyway, and by the time we would have had to pay luggage fees it ended up only costing about $200 more to go first class. I'm really looking forward to the extra hip and leg room on the plane!!

Aloha! You are going to love it here! The weather is absolutely perfect and it's not crowded AT ALL! This is the time to go!

Yes they do sell an autograph book at the store. It features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Stitch lounging on the beach at Aulani on the cover. Very cute. Have a great vacation!!!

Thanks! We are excited for next week. So happy it isn't too busy and my daughter is happy there is a special Aulani autograph book. Can't wait!

we just returned 3 days ago, the weather was beautiful, and the resort is just amazing . we only had a full day of rain when the hurricane passed. we are already planning when we could go back. That trip was the best vacation ever, .. have a wonderful time.

After starting the countdown at over 300 days, we leave in the morning!!

We are planning on going to Aulani in early June. We are not DVC members so will get a standard room. The tentative schedule I have in mind is a little overwhelming. We are traveling from Chicago & want to break up the flights for the kids, but DH doesn't like traveling all day either. So this is what I have planned:

6/3: Fly into LA - stay the night
6/4: Fly into HILO - stay for 3 full days
6/8: Fly into Honolulu - Aulani for 5 full days
6/14: Fly into San Diego - stay for 1 full day
6/16: Fly home to CHI

I haven't booked anything yet b/c I keep questioning it. The extra day in San Diego is to help break up the flights & jet lag. I also have been watching flight prices & there was a huge jump up in $ for 1 leg. Booking this many flights makes me anxious too. I am afraid I am going to miss a great deal.

On our trip we are only visiting Oahu but we are also flying to California first. I got great prices on a Hawaiian airlines flight from Oakland. I have family near there so we are going to stay with them on both sides of the trip (we are traveling from Minneapolis).

Good luck!

We booked the flights from Oakland to Honolulu in July for our trip Dec. 15th-26th. Then I just booked our flights to and from CA this past week. Overall, we ended up paying just under $700 a person which saved us $1500 over just flying straight to Honolulu from here.

Good luck!

We are going to Aulani in April for 10 days in a one bedroom ocean view villa. Just booked our flight. Direct from Chicago. 833 each for four of us. Actually cheaper than we have paid in the past. I wouldn't dream of stopping...way too much trouble. Prefer 10 hours on one flight to get there and then relax. Jet lag is over in a day., then when you fly home you get home at 5 am...go home, unpack, do some shopping and go to bed early. Everything is fine the next day.

We flew direct from Newark in August. Worked perfectly. Relaxed when we checked in, went to bed around 10pm and lounged the first day. Perfect!

We always stay in California for a few days before & a few days after. Primarily for 2 reasons. 1) we are in Florida and I cannot deal with 13+ hours of travel time. 2) to help with the time difference. After just a couple of days in CA, we pretty much adjust to the 3 hour difference. When we get to Hawaii, it's just 3 hrs that we have to adjust to instead of the full 6.

This is what I am thinking to help my kids adjust. Plus, flying direct gets us into Hawaii in the middle of the night (our time) & there's no way we will be able to do the connection flight (HNL to HILO), get the rental car, find our way to the house we're renting (staying on Big Island 1st) with our 6 year old. He will be a crabby mess. I might consider direct flight if we were flying into HNL & staying at Aulani which will be simple.
