Who is a DVC Member on the West Coast?

West Coast owner here from Placentia, CA. Just 5 minutes from DL and waiting for two toddler boys to become plane friendly for a trip to WDW in 2008. We have been using our points at GC for the past two years.

I can't seem to find any announcement for that. I heard the rumor about it. When was this announced?

Supposedly being announced this Wed., Jan. 24. 50 rooms at the GCH. They are building on the site of the current "Green Meadow" which is a large grassy area outside the door to the immediate right if you are standing facing the Concierge desk. There's a lawn there with a line of trees and the Green Meadow is on the other side of the tree line.

Oh I read about that! It was on MiceAge wasn't it? Anyway, from what the OP worded it I was thinking it had been announced and I was sitting under a rock at the time

So Cal owner here as well, sadly its been 3 weeks since my last visit and have to wait until Feb. 3 for my next visit.

I think if you can plan ahead(calling at exactly the 7 month mark) you will still be able to get a room. Remember that with limited rooms comes limited points being sold. Sadly most of us locals don't plan that far ahead. I'll probably try and use one or two nights per year.

We just bought at SSR BECAUSE we believe in the GC DVC.

We're from Northern California and visit DL 3-4 times a year. We'll be using our points at the DL hotel this year, maybe DW next year. When they finally release the Grand Californian, we'll be first in line to buy because we want that to be our "home".

Stayed at the GC for a week 3 years ago and fell in love. Not so much with the recent $350/night rates.

Hi! you might want to consider going on a disney magic west coast cruise next summer '08, no need to fly you'll board at port of L.A., We went last time they were here (june '05) my then 4 yr old son had a great time at the kids club.

We are from SoCal. We have AP's to both WDW and DLR. We have enough points to go to WDW 3 times a year (Fall, Winter, and Spring) when the weather is nice there. We plan on buying enough points for a week at DLR during the summer when the weather is sweltering at WDW, but perfect in CA!

BTW---did anybody grab the AP rate at the hotels through 2/15 that showed up on the Dashboard the other day? On the DL board, a few people got DLH @ $139---haven't seen that rate in quite a while.

We'd buy GC DVC in a heartbeat if we hadn't just added on at VB. (Which I still love and would be unwilling to sell!) Maybe I can talk DH into a resale someday in the future...

Please forgive my naïveté, I'm a new DVC member, but has the GCH at DLR been accepting DVC points for stays in the past? I never knew that. Well... granted, there's a whole world of DVC I never knew, but that one's interesting.

Do you get to park at GCH for free when you're just going to DL or DCA and not staying at the hotel?
