I can't wait to hear about the Luau... I am thinking of doing it in Februray
we got DDs daily stuffed animal as well. Lotso it was ( Smell him Mommy! Strawberries! All. The. Time).
Bryan had made the decision to skip his much anticipated lunch at Earl of Sandwich knowing that it wouldnt be Maddies favorite and with one snarky word from her we could be back to square one.
I suspect that Bryan will play a lot of golf when Maddie hits her teenage years.![]()
A bus bound for the Swan/Dolphin/Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club arrived within 5 minutes and we got on it.
It always seems to take 4 years to actually leave the DTD area and this day was no exception.
The bus was on its way to one of the water parks when Maddie uttered the words that no parent wants to hear when trapped on a bus that will be making a minimum of 6 stopsMommy, I have to go potty.
Again we asked some people working how to get back to the walking path, but they pretended not to speak English until it was obvious that we werent walking away. Then they begrudgingly told us to go that way. So, not a great first impression of the Swan or Dolphin.
Eventually we did make it to DHS. We noticed right away that there were still TSMM Fast Passes available at 2pm!
Doesn't the palm tree look like a little pom-pom on top of the hat?
And, Bryan actually likes bad pizza. This is the guy whod been willingly sampling pizza from the kids section of every buffet we encountered.
So, Pizza Planet. With a Deluxe Dining Credit.
I am kind of a Caesar salad snob though, and the salad was not good.
While we were eating, I glanced at the receipt for our food and noticed that we were 6 dining credits short... He realized that when he picked up the tickets for the Luau, the dining credits had likely been deducted right then and there. I knew he was probably right, but we agreed to keep an eye on the credits the next day to be sure.
Secure in the fact that we were the Worst Parents Ever, we left Pizza Planet.
Bryan asked, Hey Maddie, wanna watch a new movie? Its got a princess in it! And so began her Star Wars fandom.
And Toddlers and Tiaras? Only once hes gone to bed.
I continued to refer to it as thingy in an effort to drive Bryan crazy. (Which it did of course, its not my first rodeo)
For the last time Mommy, its a Speeder!! I laughed so hard that tears were rolling down my face, and all of the people around us were cracking up too.
CPO the Golden Robot
Next up was Muppet Vision 3D which was a first for all of us. Stop throwing things at me! We went didnt we?
Maddie was chosen to be a part of the library scene where her job was to play the rubber stamp. She was delighted with herself.
I hadnt ridden RnRC since our honeymoon, but its still my favorite ride on property. So much fun! I cant wait until Maddie is tall enough to bribe her onto that one so that we can ride as a family.
He no longer tries to get me to watch the Godfather or Star Wars series with him, and I return the favor by never suggesting CenterStage or Coyote Ugly. And Toddlers and Tiaras? Only once hes gone to bed.
Too too funny!! My grandsons were in my room and I was showing them pictures, hence the Rossa vs Rolls...lol, I hate typos!
Great minds just think alike I guess!! My older grandson LOVES Star Tours as much as he loves Muppets 3D. Actually, HS is the easiest park for us to encourage him to do things, as we can always offer another ride on Star Tours as an added bonus!
I think my grandson will be tall enough for a lot of rides this time. So far we have only been able to get him on BTMM, KRR, ST, POTC, and HM as far as dark or roller coaster rides go.
He says in September he wants to go on Splash, with his Mommy of course, so we will see.
at your reference to watching Toddlers and Tiaras when Bryan's not there. That's one of the shows DF won't watch either, in the category of Dance Moms and Keeping up with the Kardashians - all shows I definitely watch while he isn't around as well!
I love that you were teasing them about the "bike thingy". But I especially love that Maddie enjoyed the Muppets!![]()
Been silently following you since the beginningGreat trip report!
You are on an updating roll!!
had to squeeze it on on my 'weekend'. Still have to get over and comment on your update.
I LOVE the reference to CenterStage! I was pretty sure I was the only person in the world to see that movie, especially to secretly really like it! And no, I haven't gotten DH to watch it. Obviously he doesn't know what he's missing
.
Are you trying to tell me that there are people who don't love CenterStage? That's crazy!
DH watched it with me when I first got it on DVD. He spent a lot of time rolling his eyes.
Glad you finally went to see MV3D! Miss Priss really fits in posing at that fountain with Miss Piggy! My kids all LOVE it, but they are more than a little obsessed with Muppets, especially Muppets Take Manhattan.
Thanks! She only poses in princess-style these days. I got her Muppets take Manhattan and the original Muppet movie when we were living at the hotel. She loves them! For about a month she sang 'Rainbow Connection' 24 hours a day.
Before our last trip, Brandon and I watched the original three Star Wars movies in preparation for the ride. I wonder if my kids (or at least Julia) would like them since Maddie does?! Might have to investigate that! Julia loves the ride without even knowing the movies, though!
I'll bet that Julia would really like the movies. Maddie loves to watch them with her dad. I don't think there's anything too bad in them either. Right now she's stuck on Ep. 4. She loves seeing Anakin as a little boy.
Very cool that CMs were entertaining Maddie! Where were you when they did that? Just standing outside? Are they there all the time, or was it just a random thing? My kids are going to need some distraction so Brandon and I can ride RNR. We had MIL last trip, but won't this timebanana
!
Love both of the updates!
The Star Wars section had me laughing! I love it that Maddie likes Star Wars. I started showing Reid the movies about a year ago. He loves them, too! Ed & I are geeks so of course we love Star Wars & are happy our son is following in our geeky footsteps. The pictures on the Speeders are great! Reid is sitting next to me & got quite excited when he saw them. He was even more excited when I told him where they are & that he can get his picture on it.
Thanks! I'm just not really into any Sci-Fi/fantasy movies, but DH and DBro love them. She's been watching 'geeky' stuff for years!
She loved getting her picture on the Speeder! I can't wait to see pics of Reid on it!
So fun that y'all got to meet P&F & that the line wasn't long!I've heard that line is really well done. As for the Toy Story meet & greet...
It's always so crazy long there. We always meet those Disney friends in MK.
It's a great M&G. I loved that they had built in entertainment while we waited. The Toy Story one was insane both times we were at DHS. We never did meet Buzz.
Yay! for getting to RNRC! That is my favorite ride at DHS. So fun! And I love the pictures of Maddie in front of the guitar.
And the Photopass pictures are all great, too! The one with y'all kissing & Maddie covering her eyes is too funny!![]()
DHS seriously has the worst counter service food in the world! I like starring rolls, and that's about it! Pizza Planet just doesn't do it for me at all, but I do like the environment, so I always make sure to at least walk through the restaurant during the trip.
DHS is really bad for CS. I haven't tried Starring Rolls yet, but since I've always got a kid with me --- Pizza Planet it is.
Baha! I'm about the same with you on the Star Wars stuff (and Center Stage, Coyote Ugly & Tods &Tiaras) I haven't seen any of the original ones, although I want to, and pretty much everything in that section is a "the thingy" to me too lol.
I'm glad that you can appreciate the really good movies with me. DH loves Star Wars, and I love teasing him about how little I know about them. Star Wars people take it really seriously.
Oh my gosh, Muppets is seriously one of my favorite things over in DHS, it just cracks me up! I love them so much! I'm glad you got on RnR! I have yet to do that (and might be doing it in Sept), hopefully you guys get onto ToT sometime during the trip!
Great update! My son is finally tall enough to ride all of the rides except RnRC and I'm so excited to get him onto the mountains and ToT. It's funny that you mentioned bribing her to go on the rides...I've already offered DS a "bravery prize" for every new grown up ride he tries with me. He's already agreed to trying most of them. He's a little unsure of EE and ToT but I have incredible powers of persuasion so I'm pretty sure I'll get him onHe's emphatically said NO to Dinosaur, but I wouldn't take him on that anyway...it scares me a bit, I know he'll be scared.
Great updates, Shannon.
I love the picture of you and Maddie after you made up.
The ceasar salad was pretty good at Pizzafari at the AK (I'm fussy about my salad too).
The "thingy" for the Speeder--I love it. I don't know anything about Star Wars either...just not my thing (I watch my chick flicks when Mark goes out of town on business or is umpping his games, and I go upstairs and play on my computer when he watches Star Wars and Godfather and most westerns).
Seriously? Seriously? You had never seen the Muppets before. I cannot believe it. I do think it needs a little updating, however.
LOVE LOVE LOVE your t-shirt in the photopass pictures, and the pictures themselves are really cute.
HAHAHA, I'm glad Maddie set you straight once and for all!
She sure did! It was hilarious.
Your ride on Star Tours sounds a lot like the one I had last week! Too funny.
I'm glad that I described it well enough that someone knew what I was talking about!
I'm glad you got to get on your favorite ride! And the PP photos are so cute.![]()
I really enjoyed your TR so far! I have to say, we do Disney a lot differently - my kids have met a few characters in their trips, but don't do a lot of interaction. They are more into stuff like Innoventions, the countries in Epcot, and my DD loves roller coasters (rode Goofy at age 2 in the front seat with her hands up, and by the time she was tall enough loved the others, ugh!).
Thanks! Sometimes I think it would be nice not to spend so much time in character lines, but she loves it. DD was a lot more 'brave' when she was younger, I can't wait until she's out of this scared phase. I think she'll have fun on some of the bigger rides.
Your DD is so cute!
Thank you!
The food looked wonderful. If you haven't done Bistro de Paris at Epcot you'd love it! We did that once - very memorable (only since we did wine pairings for us, not the kids, lol) and then my DH was leaving (I was staying a few more days with the kids as is our usual he only comes a few days and I go a lot longer) it started storming like mad, so he took my umbrella which did him no good and got to one or our rooms at the Dolphin to change into dry clothing and leave me the wet stuff. When the rain is coming sideways in late August no umbrella or poncho is going to keep you dry. But the Bistro was nice and good food and drinks (sorry I guess you don't drink but man lots of wine!). My kids love Epcot best, then AK and DHS, MK last. They're weird but we trained them to like what we do I guess - not really!
I cannot imagine going with my MIL. Yikes you are brave.
I can't wait to hear about the Luau... I am thinking of doing it in Februray
Joining in
Great update! You are reminding me how fun DHS is!
Thanks! It is a fun park, we really like it.
Cute P&F pics. We waited FOREVER for those guys, so I'm a little jealous......
Thanks! I was glad that we got in line when we did (even though she wasn't wearing the right shirt) The next day they line was mobbed!
I hope you get to do ToT one day!![]()
Love, LOVE, LOVE the pictures of maddie in the fountain and with the giant guitar.
Thank you!
We are now 37 days out from our trip and I've actually stopped planning! Not more I can do without input and the family refuses to discuss it until Sept. 1
OMG! 37 days! It's so close!!!!!
I'm pretty sure that DH would make me stop talking about Disney if he thought he could get away with it.
Around trip time he does get really sick of it, but once he goes on the trips, he really appreciates all the work that went into planning them so he's a lot nicer about my constant chatter.
How's the new job going?
So loving her posing! She's a natural!
Thanks! You have a lot of similar pictures don't you?![]()
Don't feel bad, I now nothing about Star Wars either, I know what wookies are, and who Chewbacca is, and Darth Vader is the bad guy. That's it, and I don't care to know more than that.
I'm glad I'm not the only one!
RnRC was fun, but I need my dramimineMy DH would love to see the queue and everything right up until you load. It may be the only way he ever "sees" Aerosmith! He's had tix 3 times and had to cancel each time.
Whoops! See what happens when life gets in the way? Shantilly posts not one, not two... but three updates!
Yoikes!
You had time Ponzerooni! I won't have time to update for another week.
"Must. Resist. Urge. To. Throttle. Child."
Exactly
Isn't it amazing just how much we sacrifice for the little rugrats?
yup, decent meal down the drain.
Play golf? You mean the DH can do that? Heck I've got DW, DDteen,
DDpreteen... even the dog's a girl.
Golf, you say. Hmmm...
Have you tried the "my boss says I have to" tactic? Works for DH.
I've heard of Swolphin, but you've got 'Swolphiboabeacthclub'
I like it.
I thought it was a bit much. All that money for a deluxe, and you end up at the Swolphiboabeachclub stop.
Kids are amazing aren't they? The little darlings seem to have an inate sense of where exactly the restrooms are... and a corresponding evil sense of timing in regards to them.
Oh boy do they ever. I've not been to a restaurant in 5 years without seeing their facilities.
Geez! What's with that? It's pretty sad when people are not only rude... but actually have to work at it. It would've been a lot faster just to point you in the right direction to start with.
It was a bummer. At least I know I don't want to stay there though!
Honestly, my favorite part was that they pretended not to speak the language. That took a lot of effort. They don't do things half way over there!
Wow. Just. Wow. I wonder if that's the first time in the history of that ride?
I was shocked! It's the first I've ever heard of it.
That officially makes it a toque. Welcome to Disney North.
DH will be delighted. He's obsessed with Canada.
I find that very few restaurants have a decent caesar. A lot of them are right out of a bottle... and it shows.
Yup. I'm a total Caesar snob.
Cardiac arrest time? Followed by <phew>!
Exactly! I was on the phone ready to dial and freaking out. DH saves the day!
That's usually a sign that you're good parents.
Oh, no! Say it isn't so! DD15 likes that show too... I cannot for the life of me understand why.
It's a train wreck. I have to watch.
Remind me not to get on your bad side.
Whadya mean, "too late"???
the Golden Robot????
You're just trying to rile up all of geekdom, aren't you?
That's what Maddie calls him. Drives her dad crazy.
Love RnRC. My fave ride in DHS and in my top 5 for sure. I love the city in the middle of it. Kind of reminds me of Peter Pan over London on Steroids.
Great updates, Shanoopie!![]()
Just catching up on your trip report
Your DD is so cute. I love her outfits esp the Alice in Wonderland one.
Thanks! I loved that outfit too!
If someone bribed me with Disney stuff I'd go on Haunted Mansion as well
I did not know you could meet Russell and Dug in Animal Kingdom. I wanna meet them!
I think you still can, but I may have heard a rumor that they've pulled them. I was so glad that we got to meet them.
I loled at the Epcot Character pics. I love how some kids are just at the right height to put their hands in the wrong places for those characters
Those pictures cracked me up!
That is so cool about how Fairy Godmother gave her the invite to BBB
My favorite day of the trip hands down.
I will be back later to catch up more. Have to go to work now to make money for Mickey Mouse![]()
OMG! Center Stage. I have a motto of "drop everything when Center Stage is on"....I could quote that movie start to finish. And can I nominate it for most awkward ending ever? "Jodie Sawyer! (Clap, Clap, Clap!!)![]()
Nicely played! One Friday night when she was about 3, Bryan and Maddie were talking about what movie theyd like to watch. Having already grown tired of Disney Princess movies, Bryan asked, Hey Maddie, wanna watch a new movie? Its got a princess in it! And so began her Star Wars fandom.
I hadnt ridden RnRC since our honeymoon, but its still my favorite ride on property. So much fun!
