not sure yet about it being allergies or a cold. at work everyone is sniffling and blowing their nose like crazy. I have to yell all day long just to get them to go wash their hands! hello! that is a pet peeve of mine. I blow my nose in the bathroom. my sinuses are stuffy and I slept until 11 today! that is pretty rare for me.

last night we watched the new Die Hard movie on demand. we are very behind on our movie watching! we wanted to go buy the Simpsons movie but didnt feel like leaving the house! I am meeting DH for lunch at 1 pm but have to get a shower soon! I am still in my pj's.

well tonight our Steelers are in the playoffs, so that is what we will be doing. hope everyone has a great Saturday! mine is so far!

eta: AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!! I can't believe I did this! I was talking to my dad on the phone this morning, and was going to go into my his photo book on my photo website. IMO, their "delete" and "continue" buttons are placed VERY poorly on the page - the delete button is RIGHT NEXT to the spot where you pick which book to work on. It's where one would want to naturally click to continue on to the book. There were several times during the book's construction that I clicked that button and almost deleted the book. Well, I wasn't paying attention as I was going in to look at it and I DELETED IT! Crap!!! I bet I spent 30 hours on that thing at least and now it's gone! :cry2:
I sent them an email telling them what happened, asking if it can be retrieved, and suggesting that their placement of options might be a little better placed on the page. I've even had friends look at that page and say the same thing - that it could easily be deleted by accident. Sure enough!

Amber----I am so sorry about Mike's job!!! I know this is not the most opportune time for this to happen, but I agree with everyone here in saying that it is a blessing in disguise. You need to take care of yourself for Spencer and try not to stress. Everything will work out. It is good to hear your dad offerred him a job, which may be just the stepping stone that he needs. At least it will take some of the worries away a bit. Try to relax and prepare for your little arrival.



Ash---I think it was you who asked about the gooey butter cake?? The plain cake is delish too. Make it the same way, (crust exactly the same), but with the filling delete the pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg and only put two eggs in (instead of three). Bake the same and sprinkle with additional powdered sugar when it comes out of the oven and cools a bit.
I love your pics of the cruise----especially the one of the you and Jeremiah in front of the grand staircase. It reminds me of Jack and Rose in Titanic----without the tragic ending, of course. You both look wonderful in all of the pics!!!

Nicole----okay, I'm not showing you my candles.
I was a little pyro when I was a kid, though. I can't believe my mom let us do this, but we would light a candle and dip the tips of our fingers into the melted wax.


Linda----thanks so much for checking on the fudge sauce from Outback. I did find one recipe that actually was not hershey's syrup, so I think I will give that a try. I do have a backup plan if that doesn't work, but thank you for looking into it.


There was so much more I wanted to say, but I cannot remember, so I will just say hello to the rest of the bunch------Lesa, Michele, Shannon, Lin, and anyone else I am forgetting.




Funny story-----I was talking to a guy that I work with and he and his SO are taking their daughter to WDW. They actually left Thursday, I think. Anyway, he was telling my that they are doing some special things, such as breakfast with the Princesses, etc. Then he tells me that his SO is working on getting tickets to see the Lion King. I told him that no special tickets are needed for that---just a ticket to get into AK. I let him know that this was not the "broadway" production------"oh, really??" was his response.



I must run now----I have a chocolate angel food cake cooling for my dad's birthday today. We are going to see Sweeney Todd (he did not know it was a musical and I warned him of the bloody gore ), then we are going to a steakhouse. yyyyuuuuummmmm. I think I will be eating salad.

Nicole...glad you didn't burn the store down. I wonder how a candle store would smell burning down, would it smell good or like smoke? Don't know why that came to mind. You would hate to see my candles. What the heck is a mushroom in the bottom?


2x...I used to love to make those finger caps when I was a kid. We would see how thick we could get the wax on our finger and then "break" out of it. Made my mom so mad! Happy Birthday to your dad!


Dznyfan...I'm so sorry about your photo book. Were you going to make another one? You may be able to have them ship out a copy of the one you made. I would think they would have it on file.

I am trying to fill out the paper work for Maddie's test on Monday. I have to remember when she did all her firsts. I have it all written down somewhere, but of course it is packed away somewhere. The paperwork is about 15 pages of questions I have to answer. It's worth it tho.

Shannon - don't you hate it when your co-workers don't use good hygiene? It's amazing, I have talked to co-workers both male and female who have serious issues with those who we hear leave the restroom without stopping at the sink.... YUK!! I hope for your sake it's just allergies. I'm kind of going through the same thing - I keep thinking it's a cold but then it just doesn't ever get worse.. then the next day I'll be back to sneezing and have a runny nose again.

I can't sleep....

I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys this -I almost burned down Yankee Candle yesterday.... sort of

We have a candle that we have burning all day long, those of you that go in there will know this. Well..... I am very particular about my candles, they must always burn evenly, absolutely NO funneling and if they do I get my wax scrapper and push down the sides, no little carbon mushrooms that fall into the wax, no soot around the jar, and a trim wick, you get the picture. I've always been this way, when I was younger I would take a knife and cut around the candle to take off the excess that had not melted down. (may God bless the person who invented the wax scraper, when I bought mine, my manager said that was the first one he had ever sold) Anyways on with my story.... There were some carbon mushrooms that were at the bottom of a candle that we had just put out yesterday. I couldn't stand it. They looked like droppings at the bottom of the wax. So I grab my handy little wax scraper and try to fish them out of the bottom. It wasn't working very well. So I wiped the rim of the jar with a piece of tissue to get the soot and wax off and the tissue caught on fire!!!!! I didn't blow out the candle!!! I dropped the tissue on the tissue paper and blew it out! I started cracking up! For some reason I found this hilarious! My manager was shocked at first then started laughing. She asked if I had burned myself and I said no. So then I blew out the candle and used a wick trimmer and got the carbon mushrooms out! (thumb) I learned my lesson....

Nicole, that is a great story!!!! I am candle-hugger, I usually use Partylite candles and you hug them with your fingers to turn the wax into the candle and smooth it out. I have even been known to stick tweezers into my candles to try and center the wick. Glad I don't have Candle OCD all by myself!!!!

Funny that you mention that the backdrop looks like Titanic....IT IS!!!!! It was made using a photograph of the grand staircase on the Titanic...obviously before it sank. Funny bit of trivia for you!

Amber, I'm so glad your dad had something for Mike. Is it something that he can do while looking for another job that is closer to home?

Pozey, I loved that thread, I went to their website and read the entire thing last night, and watched the videos...I would be lying to say I wasn't teary eyed the entire time, it was beautiful and exactly like being in a dream!

Well, I got a massage today and now my back is stiff. Guess I need to drink more water. It was my belated anniversary gift from Chris. Now we are getting ready to finally go to my in-laws house for Christmas with them. We got home from WDW the day before they left for the Rose Bowl Parade and they just got back, so belated Christmas for us!

All of this talk of playing with candles brought back memories of what we did as kids, too!! Not only did we dip our fingers in the wax, but I remember making a blanket tent acrossed some chairs and lighting candles that looked like Christmas trees!! It's really a wonder we didn't burn down the house!


What's everyone got planned for this evening? Gary is working in the basement and I'm really not sure what we're doing for supper.
