Speaking of hearing splashing from the other room...

Oh. My. Goodness. :rotfl2:

Linda - those stories were too funny!! :lmao: Gotta love the things those kids do! Kindergarten... wow. But doesn't it seem like the time has blown by just up to that point? Then they get busier, and it goes faster.

Lyzziesmom- LOVE the pic - uh, oh!!

YM- One night I was in bed talking to my mom on the phone, and I kept getting up and down, letting the dog out of the room, letting her BACK in, etc. I really don't remember if I was getting up or sitting back down, but I heard and felt this POP in my knee and I felt my kneecap or something in my knee move to the right. I honestly don't remember what I was doing because it was so much pain, I think I blacked out for a second. I just started screaming for DH to come get me but it took him a second because he was watching the NBA playoffs and blasting the TV  (Thats why I had to go to the bedroom to hear the phone.)

It's been about a month and a half- 2 months since this has happened. Honestly, I probably should have gone to the emergency room, but I don't have medical insurance because DH's job isn't paying their bill, and the insurance company (understandly) canceled the whole company's policy. I was basically laid out for 2 weeks, I could barely walk or anything. A heating pad really helped, but thats about it. Now its bareable, I can walk on it without any problems and put my full weight on it, but I'm nervous about all the walking at WDW. Like I said, when I'm in Target or grocery shopping, etc. my knee starts popping, kind of like its popping out of joint and starts hurting.
I'm really scared about re-injuring it.

WHEW, that was long!!! anyway, I was thinking maybe a brace would work. I don't know what to do! I want to have a nice, pain free trip! And now I'm completely out of walking shape that I was in before this happened!

Lyzziesmom: Oh, what a bad girl! She is so adorable though, she probably gets away with things alot. ;) Did this just happen?!

Ashley,
My daughter did something similar it sounds like - she twisted her upper leg (turning her body) but kept her lower leg stable. She wears a knee brace when it bothers her - it is a heavy soft one with hard plastic braces on the sides that have hinges that allow the knee to flex. She'll wear this at WDW, and she says it helps. You might look into what kind you can find over the counter. She got hers from the Orthopedic surgeon. Good luck, and healthy knee pixiedust:

No, this actually happened back in April but it is one of my favorite pictures of her. It was the first time she 'discovered' the toilet. She took a bunch of cups out of the trash can and put them into the toilet and then just kind of swished 'em around for a while! The funniest part is, she smooshed them each before putting them in the toilet. Why? I do not know.

(Notice how they are all Disney cups? This was before her first trip to WDW, and I inundated her with the characters so she'd know who they were. It totally worked... a little too well, I think! The girl can find hidden Mickeys everywhere!)

Yesterday she did this again, but minus the cups. Just swishing elbow-deep in the toilet.

Hello girls! What a monday. Actually what a manic monday ahhh!! Our phone system went down our internet went down. You gotta love technology right?

Ashley - try walking with one of the new heat braces, like icy hot or therma care. I have used the therma care ones for my back and they realy do help. They don't magically make the pain go away but they do help.

Lyzziesmom- that picture was great! I am glad to see that we both have the same taste in dixie cups

Well I am hungry time to make dinner for one DH is out with the "big wigs" from his company tonight.

My daughter did something similar it sounds like - she twisted her upper leg (turning her body) but kept her lower leg stable. After xrays and MRI, they determined that the twist had cracked what they call the growth plate in the knee. There wasn't anything to do, she had some physical therapy with the orthopedist, but where I'm going with this is - she still has problems with it from time to time, particularly if she's doing a show (dancer) or when at WDW. She wears a knee brace when it bothers her - it is a heavy soft one with hard plastic braces on the sides that have hinges that allow the knee to flex. She'll wear this at WDW, and she says it helps. Thanks for the suggestion, DznyFan! I'm going to go look for something like this!

Ashley... Ouch..are you still out of insurance? It sounds like you might need an MRI to see what might being going on. Also, advil and alieve are the over the counter meds that work for those injuries...so take some along with you on your trip. Popping and pain usually aren't a good sign but I'm glad you are making progress. Good luck... :goodvibes

OMG that pix is so funny Lyzziesmom :lmao: That must be Emma? TOO CUTE!!! I'd have to use that against her and show her boyfriends in 15 years!!!;)

=Linda...those are sweet pictures! Hey, maybe we could post first day of school pics...that would be fun.
I'm so sad I don't have a WDW trip even in the works...but I can always pretend.
That is a GREAT idea!!! I'll have to post his first day at school for sure. Too cute!! We don't have a trip planned right now either  hopefully soon!

DznyFan...kids do some funny things...and some things you want to ring their necks for;) I wouldn't want it any other way. They can't be perfect...that would be so boring! Your daughter sounds like a good girl! Sounds like she has some incredible qualities for her age! They have to break some rules and have some fun now before they get out on their own and get into real trouble. She is very lucky to have such an understanding mom!

Well you ladies...and pozey have a great evening.

Yes, that's my Emma. Thanks, I think she's cute too! It's not her most flattering picture, but it really shows her personality. I was just thinking today how different my girls are. At Emma's age (26 months), Lyzzie was talking in complete sentences, things like "I love my big girl bed, it's so extremely cozy." She's always been the well-spoken, calm one. And Emma says things like "Bed! Mine! Like it!! Dance! Twist!!" and dancing herself silly until she falls down every night. She is not as advanced verbally, in fact I think she's a little behind the norm with her vocabulary, but she is so active and physical. She can climb on anything, and Lyzzie wouldn't even climb on the playground until she was 5 1/2! And yet in other ways, they are so similar. They are both so sweet and loving, full of hugs and kisses. They are both very emotional and sensitive to others' feelings. :goodvibes

Whoa, I got a little deep there, sorry for that!!

I love the first day of school pictures idea, I will post when I have one!

Time to finish making dinner, see you all later.

 :cloud9:  That is so sweet!!! Lyzzie and Emma sounds so adorable! Just little princesses for sure! That is like Kenny...being an only child mostly around adults...he's very smart and has always talked so well. I was just thinking the other day how cute he was at 2...his big word was hopeless.... he'd tell my mom...."Grandma... you are just hopeless!!" it was so darn cute!! When Mike and I met we went up to his pilot buddies house and his buddies parents were there... Kenny was outside playing w/his buddies daughters. His buddies parents came up to them...Kenny was 3 and Kenny jumped off the swing to go introduce himself... " Hi, I'm Kenny. How are you?" They came in asking... "who is Kenny with?" they thought that was the cutest thing they'd ever seen for such a little guy :) The things they come up with and say... it is so cute!!! Emma will catch up. That happens a lot when they have an older sibling to help them or doing the work for them. My sisters kids are the same way. Bethany is the oldest...smart as a tack... she's 7.. Lauren is 5 and I can't hardly understand a word she says but the sweetest little girl ever... then poor Bradley is 2 1/2 and I can't understand anything but "NO"....and a few other small words. He has 2 big sisters that give him whatever he points to and he don't have to talk...
Your girls are so adorable! They just melt our hearts don't they. I know it is so hard being a single parent... but I've gotta tell you. You're doing a great job! :grouphug: They are very lucky to have such a great mom! I didn't go to Disney until I was 20!! If we went to the park in our town...10 minutes away...we thought that was a big deal and we were FAR from home :sad2: I guess that is why I'm so different w/Kenny... I want the best for him. I want him to have all the things I didn't have...but I want him to appreciate those things and have respect for his things and everyone...I think he does pretty good though!

Actually....I talked to Kenny just a little bit ago :cheer2:   :cloud9: Made my night. I called and he was playing a video game...He threw it down to come running to the phone!! :teeth: oh...it was so great to hear that little sweet voice!! :teeth:

I better watch treasure hunters or Mike will think I'm depriving him again;)!!

Linda::Glad you got to talk to Kenny!! It's always helps to hear their voices and know they're OK!!! Nathan is an only child also and has always had an expanded vocabulary. It's always amazing to hear those words come out of such a small person!!

L'smom::That pic of Emma is priceless!! I just have one question. She didn't flush, did she??? :lmao:

Ashley::I don't have any advice for the knee. I agree that Ibuprophen would help. My mom takes Aleve, but I think they make me feel kind of weird..numb so to speak. Take it easy and don't overdo!!

Michele::Are you getting ready to leave for WDW?? If I missed the day have a good time and gaze at the castle for me!!!

We finally got some much needed rain!! The grass was drying and it was sooo dusty and dry!!

Had a little trauma here today. Got a call from Connor's school (I was already in the car) he is in the office with what looks like rope burns on his hands and it happened at recess. Turns out they were burns from touching hot playground equipment (reaching for the plastic part on a "sliding monkeybars"). Took him to the Dr. and they are 2nd degree burns across the palms of his hands! :scared1: Say a prayer that it isn't too painful for him while it heals.

Lyzziesmom-LOVE that picture! :teeth:

Linda, Yay for you talking to Kenny! I love talking to my kids on the phone, they sound so different! It sounds like he's having a good time, even if it's driving you nuts.

Angela, I've never understood why they don't put the playgrounds in the shade. Remember when all slides were metal and you'd burn your legs on them? I don't even take my kids to the playground in the summer... it's too hot! I hope Connor's hands heal quickly, that sounds like it really hurts. I'll have to remember to tell Lyzzie about that so she will be careful. She always is anyway, I call her the Safety Police. When Emma was born, Lyzzie was 5 and every day she would clear the floor of "choking hazards." What a ham.

Ashley, I don't know what to tell you about the knee. It's awful not having health insurance, that seems to be when everything goes wrong. I didn't have insurance for a few years, and it was during that time that I developed my back problems. It never would have gotten so bad had it been diagnosed earlier... now there is so much arthritis they don't know what to do for it. I also broke my elbow a few days after my insurance coverage ended... the hospital bill alone was $35,000.00, not to mention the orthopaedic surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and the 6 months of physical therapy. I had to plead poverty, it was very humbling. Boy, I've come a long way in 4 years.

I agree with the suggested ibuprofen, it is an anti-inflammatory rather than just a pain reliever. If you can't find a brace, maybe wrap it with an ace bandage in the meantime? You might try googling "knee physical therapy exercises" or something like that to see some suggestions for exercises to help it heal better. Just an idea.

Donna, no she didn't flush. Thank goodness, she hasn't figured that one out yet! At my mom's house one day, she did toss a bunch of hair accessories into the toilet and they kind of slid down. We still can't find a bunch of Minnie Mouse hair clips -- wanna guess where they might be??

Oh my goodness I hope he is ok. Is he able to use his hands at all or are the burns pretty spread on his hands? Here is some pixie dust for him :wizard:
