Who here is not in the "clique" like me?

Okay, DznyFan--here we go---

I have been thinking and thinking and racking my sweet lil brain to try to come up with somewhere for you and your beautiful fam to have lunch here in my city. Here's what I have come up with---

1) There is a Mickey D's on the corner of............j/k :teeth: :teeth:

2) Downtown area--by the Arch--an area called The Landing
There are several restaurants in this area--touristy during the day; drunkenfest at night. There are "pubby" style places, as well as The Old Spaghetti Factory--this is a chain--fun atmosphere but not "authentic" Italian. They have them all over the states. http://www.osf.com/

There is also a Planet Hollywood, etc. on The Landing.

3) An area called The Hill---I have mentioned this before. It is Hwy. 44 to Kingshighway exit, then to Shaw Ave. From here it is block to block homes, Italian markets, restaurants, etc. This is the true authentic Italian area. You may even run into Morelli and Plum here. and Grandma Mazur--can't remember if you're a reader or not--if not, forgive me.

The problem I am finding with The Hill is that most of the restaurants are not open for lunch or close for lunch at 2pm then reopen for dinner. If you can make it here before 2pm I would recommend Lorenzo's Trattoria(northern Italian), Favazza's, or Zia's(this is just okay--lots of garlic).

4) Forest Park----this is our big park of the city--contains the Zoo, Art Museum, History Museum, Muny Opera, etc. In the park there are a couple of venues that I would recommend. One is the restaurant inside the Art Musuem--Puck's--operated by Wolfgang Puck. This is a lovely place, somewhat of a "sterile" atomsphere but somehow very peaceful. Lots of windows overlooking the courtyard of the museum.
http://www.stlouis.art.museum/index.aspx?id=8

The second place in the park is called The Boathouse--It sits right on one of the little water areas and the outside seating is a must. This can get very crowded so I would be aware of this. It is a very fun place though, and like I said if you do go here--try your best to sit outside by the water.
http://www.boathouseforestpark.com/

5) The only other place I can think of would be Union Station--this is right down the street from the Arch (away from the Riverfront). It is an old train station that has been turned into a shopping and restaurant area. They have alot of "chainy" places here--Hooters, Landry's Seafood, Hard Rock, etc. The place is pretty and certain restaurants you can sit outside by the water as well. The best place to park (safety wise) is in their lot, but it is paid parking.
http://www.stlouisunionstation.com/

6) You can always come to my house --I'll cook. I am about 10 min. away from the Downtown area. :teeth: j/k--I'll be working.

I hope this is somewhat helpful. It is so hard to recommend places to people because of different styles and tastes. It is really sad, because even though I grew up here, I take it for granted. We have some lovely places, but also some shotty places, too. If it were me, I'd try for the Boathouse or somewhere on the Hill because of its authenticity. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Oh, and remember you are in the city, so safety first. Not saying it is dangerous, but crime happens. :sunny:

p.s. I can't remember if you said that you have been to St. Louis before or not??

I truely believe I am incapable of a short post. :teeth:

So, what is this I hear?? We are all bringing our cameras with Ashley and Nicole to be their private Photopassers??

click click Work it baby, work it click click

This reminds me of when my sister and I were little, we used to pretend to take pictures and we held our hands in front of our eyes as if taking the picture and pressed our pointer down to "take" the picture and said "gootsa". :confused3 :confused3 :lmao: We were strange children.

Lyzziesmom--you're just full of info this morning aren't ya?? computer tricks, POP tricks, who knew??
Target--sounds like a plan.

April--you sounds like me--belly button pierced for many years, then took it out. I was over it. I go back and forth with the tattoo thing but like I said before, don't know if I can do it anymore due to health issues. Maybe someday, like when I'm 90.

okay, is it just me, or is that cat post a bit caaaareeeepy?? YIKES

Hi Ash, Linda, Nicole, Amber, YM, April, Lyzziesmom, DznyFan, MImom, Donna (thanks for the fr. toast btw), Pozey, Angela, Lesa/Gracie, Pr. Pix,----I know I'm forgetting someone-----where's that master list???

Yup, it's creepy.

ETA: I think this tops my dancing Spidey? How bout you?

Yep, the kitties take the cake.

no cake for you, Spidey dude.

April - dang! I thought you were the one who was thinking of getting a tattoo. Who was it then?? Ashely maybe? Amber? Angela?? Too many A's!

I thought the cat thing was hilarious! Then again, I'm a cat person (not a crazy cat lady though --- yet. Give me another couple decades) so I didn't find it creepy. Spidey though: tres creepay.

Well Mom was here again this morning packing away... the place is looking quite empty. It's weird to think that I still technically have a month left here, but we will gone for so much of it and busy at the new house very soon, so best to get as much done now as possible. It is making me a little sad, because there is so much I wanted to do with this place that will now never get done. Ah well, at least I know I'll be in the new house for a long time, so that won't be an issue there. In the meantime, I think I've carted out several trash bags of stuff I decided I don't really need. Yay me!!

2xcited - that's funny, we have a Union Station here in KC too, and I keep having to do a double-take when you mention it.

Lunchtime! What's everyone having today? I am still undecided, I'll have to go scrounge around in the pantry.

momofLyzzie--

why haven't you found your tickers yet?? Are you agressively looking??

"Be agressive, be be agressive" :cheer2: :cheer2:

no I was never a cheerleader

Just thought I'd ask because I am a bit paranoid that everyone else is seeing something and all I see are x's. Are they bad pics of me?? huh?? I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too.

Hey, you again---

don't get me wrong, I love cats (and dogs) as well, just thought it a bit odd--funny, but creepy. Maybe it's my mood today--up and down and up.....and down and........down and up and dow.........shall I stop now??

and don't fret, my little one--just think of all the things you can do to your new home!!!! And you can call it your own, not just renting. Think of all the memories you will make with Lyzzie and Emma!!!!

Is it really lunchtime already??

Where does the time go------on my day off, no less.

Hey 2xcited - the kids have the Disney channel on right now (of course) and the Little Einsteins are in St. Louis!! They are talking to the St. Louis symphony orchestra. Neato!

2xcited - Thank you so much for the info!! Italian is always great for me, we just need to all come together with some kind of mutual decision. I'll take some time to try do some research on those areas! I'm thinkin' I don't know if I'd be up to seeing Grandma Mazur - I might just have to run the other way. Of course, she's pretty harmless unless she's got a gun or in a funeral home!! Thank you, thank you again for the information!

I missed out on the late night festivities here as always, 2x is such a hooty night owl.

:welcome: SuzieR!

The french toast looked fabulous, the kitties were a little weird but amusing, and I'm assuming that the hooter girls must have been posted for our dear Pozey's benefit (as I'm assuming he doesn't really like looking at the JD pics...)

YM - I love the songs, and Baby Mine - oh that one just makes me cry every time. Speaking of crying, I was bawling my little eyes out last night around 10:00 - took 'Rent' over to a friends house - she'd never seen it before. Gets me every time.

Lyzziesmom - it's almost moving day! (You did go out and get those sheets that 2x posted for you the other day... RIGHT??)

Hi, everybody! :wave2:

HELLO!!

2excited::I'm so rude, I forgot to thank you for the Poptarts. I munched on one while I was painstakinly preparing the French Toast!!!! :goodvibes

Ashley & Nicole::I promise to get my OWN room thank-you-very-much. Wouldn't want to spoil anyone's honeymoon/alone time!!

Muffycat::I saw your Dancin' Cats on that thread about the Sonic guy leaving his wife. Very disturbing. The guy, not the cats! :cat:

Lyzziesmom:: Get packed up and get to your new house girl!!! Have fun decorating and doing what ya' want to it, it'll be YOURS!!! :yay: :yay:

hey there Lyzziesmom... we've been shopping away :) I'll get my laptop next week :woohoo: they haven't yet told me how much I can work from home but my boss said he's working on it. For him to say that... is a really good sign!!! I do work from home sometimes now...usually in the winter if it's really bad. I can do timesheets from this computer...but I can't get into Deltek from this computer to do the billing etc. so... here's hoping I can work at least 32 hrs a week from here and go in maybe once a week??? That would be incredible!!!

Ok...I've gotta go back and reply :)

Hi everyone! Thankyou everyone for your pixie dust. :grouphug: I did awesome on my exam!!!

Congrats on your exam!!! :cool1: I love Boca  I know a lot of people that work for Siemens there. I use to work for them but traveled all over the country for them installing their telephone switches. Plus my high school sweetheart's parents moved there and bought a condo on the beach, joined the yacht club and are living it up there :)... I stayed there in 03' to take my mom to the beach...she loved it!

It suddenly hit me that we close on the new house in FOUR DAYS!! I got a really cool wall mural of Cindy's castle...
Time flies doesn't it!!! Congrats! That is so awesome! The wall mural sounds adorable! I got Mike a wall mural for the basement. He loves Terry Redlin... its pretty neat. The castle would be much better! Where did you find that? Maybe have something for boys? Kenny would love it!!

MIL called this afternoon. Blake's birthday is our first day at Disney so she wants to celebrate on Sunday. His family ALWAYS celebrates on Sundays at 4:30. You could literally set your watches by his family. I am so bad, once we started having kids and I was in charge of some of the parties I would change the days and times just to mess with them :lmao: When the kids were little I insisted that birthdays be on the actual birthday, a completely novel concept to them but they went along.

:lmao: I would have to mess w/them like that too Michele! That is great! I like having Kennys birthday on his birthday too...but it's just easier now to wait til the weekend...we always go up to Kalahari or something!!OH...and we won't tell your secret, potc2..

I work with a girl who made pasta and she looked at me like I had two heads when I told her to let the water boil first. Imagine how gummy those turned out.

And don't worry, I won't tell my client who is the mother and MIL of two very famous people in Hollywood--one of which is a famous director. Your secret is safe with me. j/k--about telling her.
not letting the water boil first... ewww! Wow..she doesn't cook much!

Do tell more... mother and mil of famous director.... :smooth: Congrats on the 500 posts :woohoo:

LINDA::[/FONT]Your Kenny is soooo adorable!!!(but you KNEW that)!!! One of these day when I learn how to post my own pics, I'll show you a pic of DS when he was 4 and then one of now(he is almost 8) just to show how fast they grow and how much they change!!! Just a "Mommy observation" from someone who's child is growing up way too fast!!!
:grouphug: Your DS will be home in less than one week!!
Thanks Donna.I know what you mean...I have all my pix on my computer and I look at his first cruise... 18months old..and then look now...it is unreal! He is so darn adorable it makes my heart melt! :cloud9: 5 more days and he'll be home. Mike has kept me pretty busy shopping... we went and bought carpet for the office yesterday!! Now looking at desks/workcenters.. I can't wait!!!

I'm boring..no tattoos, ears pierced once, don't smoke, hardly drink...

I did the stupidest thing earlier!!! I saw a Ding for my flight from MCO to HOU and cancelled my flight to try to get the Ding fare..... well it was for flights ending Sept 30 not Oct 2!!! :furious: I didn't read! I quickly rebooked my return flight, thankfully I got the same price I payed before. I am so happy everything is fixed now. The morale of the story is READ THE FINE PRINT!!!
:rolleyes1 Glad you got that straightened out!!! I've done things like that once or twice... I just say...oops blonde moment;)

I don't feel as though we're cliquey - as in that we don't ignore 'new' posters in this thread... no offense to the DIS at all, but I've seen what seems to be a fair share of nastiness and cliquiness here. Personally, as far as this thread goes, I've found I really like all ya'll (Oklahoma for everybody) who is participating with us. And I don't mean that to sound cliqueish.
I have two tattoos - I have a bright green day gecko on my right ankle - he's about 4 inches long and looks like he's crawling up my leg. He's very well shaded and even has a little shadow. My other is Tigger - he has a 'hundred acre wood' background that looks like a watercolor - right out of the books! I had an artist who is incredible. Same guy did both. Tigger is not visible. I got them both about 9 years ago.
I find myself wanting another, but I wouldn't go to anyone around here. My 16 y.o. asked if I would go with her after she turns 18 to get a Disney one, she suggested we each get one - matching, I guess. I think she wants a simple tri-circle Mickey head somewhere discreet (as she's a theatre student). I'm game!

You're right! we don't ignore new posters here. Actually I think we try to be very welcoming to anyone that posts! I've also seen the nastiness and cliques too. Your tattoos sound cool! Esp. the Tigger one of coarse. I would consider a disney one...but I hate needles!! you and your dd having matching ones would be cool!

Congrats on your first digital camera Ashley!! :woohoo: 6 megapix is awesome!! You will love it! I have a Canon Powershot...it's only 4 megapix but I bought it a few years ago... I love them!! You'll find yourself taking more pix since you can delete them if they don't turn out and its so much better than film!!!Happy 500th post :woohoo: !!

Linda, I am so sorry for what you're having to go through. It really sucks big time!! I hate to hear that Kenny's dad wanted nothing to do with him until last year. Funny (not really but for lack of a better word) how it wasn't until they met. I had a friend where the same thing happened to her. She was doing just fine with the baby (well as fine as could be expected under the circumstances) and then when the little girl was almost three the dad found a new girlfriend who insisted that he see his child! The little girl had such a hard time. It truly was heartbreaking. Sidenote, I'll never get these women who hook up with these men who have nothing to do with their children. You shouldn't have to make a man see his children. If he's not hugely a part of their life when you meet them, then hello, red flag!!! MOVE on! Because his actions are saying, not much in the way of character or integrity! Sorry, I just keep seeing that whole fiasco with my friend and her dd. :sad2:

I love you guys. Sorry I'm not the best cliqueless chica.

Yes there are some real jerks out there  Kenny would be so much better off w/o them in his life!! I just hoping and praying that he'll stop! My dad would pop in my life for a day and disappear for years too and it just isn't right for the child! They think it is their fault and then you've got to explain to him that it's not his fault etc. It just isn't right!! His wife just wanted his paycheck. They just got married in DEC...she's already lost her car, about to lose her business...she's an attorney..and she's seeing a psychiatrist... REAL WINNER! He thought he was getting a bragging piece...and wow what a mistake he made.... but that is exactly what he deserves :teeth: He has a son that is 14 that he hasn't seen in 10 years!!!! I went w/him to get him when we were dating and she would never be there and crazy stuff so I believed everything he said...now I see why she'd never be home! Hope your friend and her dd are doing ok! I know what it is like! You are a wonderful cliqueless chica :grouphug: we love you too!!

lyzziesmom... you're right Lyzzie has great taste!! I love Papa Johns pizza w/the garlic sauce  YUMMMM I just told Mike yesterday I was going to have to order some soon...and go to BW3's... all the tasty stuff!

Hi to everyone :wave2: April, Ashley,Angela,Amber,DznyFan,2x2s,lyzziesmom,pozey,Nicole...and everyone I'm forgetting... the list is getting too long to memorize... forgive me;)

Nope I already got one (a little butterfly) although it turned into the giganta moth when I was pregnant! :) :rotfl:

:welcome: SuzieR feel free to get your clique on here!!

Alright I feel completely out of the loop since I ignored my computer last night!! Hope everyone has had a good Sunday, I'm waiting for the Pizza Hut man to bring our dinner. :)

Could we get everyone to post with their name/screen name so I can get my list straight? :teeth:

The cat thing was hysterical, one of my cats looks just like "stoner cat" too much catnip I guess! :dance3:

I hate to admit it, but I started keeping a cheat sheet. Now I think I about learned everyone!!

Linda::Crossing my fingers for your working from home!!! Even 2 or 3 days a week would help!! Yeah, what is BW3's??

Donna, you cheater! First you tell us you don't really cook, and now this?? For shame!

I just count on my amazing powers of memory to know who everyone is. Can you tell how great it's working? As long as it's on the current page, I can remember it perfectly.

On work days, I come home to 3 pages of posts!! Yes, I get confused!!

:wave2: where's everybody?

went school shopping today - Kohl's, the mall, and Academy sports. The child is ready to return to school Thursday.

Lyzziesmom - you really found a wall mural of Cindy's castle? A photo? DD has a white sand beach with palm trees looking out on a blue, blue ocean on one wall, with her other walls painted a very light sky blue. I'd put the castle in my room!!
