Hmmm.. which mall? We used to go to the one at Somerset Mall, but now I'm broke, I stay away from that one. I just usually go to Target and Old Navy here on Maple and Coolidge. I like this strip mall, it's very clean and the stores are more organized. Once in a blue moon I shop at Oakland Mall.

Oh my gosh, I am always at that Target or the Kohl's there. I love it. I know what you mean about that strip mall. It is so much nicer than most. I dropped DS at Driver's Ed ( look out!) at John R and Square Lake and stopped at the strip mall at 14 mile and John R. Went into the TJMAXX, oh please, I will pay full price just so I don't have to deal with that chaos

My Imagineer Guides to Magic Kingdom and Epcot just came in the mail. I'm excited. Even though I have 3 months before I get to go again.

My weekend plans are now reading these.

I'm half way through the Imagineering Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom already. I haven't read a lot of guides so I dont know how the other ones are. It gives a lot of history and the visions for how things were created. The concept art in it is amazing. Some of the things are common knowledge in it for true Disney lovers, like the Main Street Windows.

I would recommend them.

Wow you are far away. We are about 20 miles north of Detroit. I have never been up to TC but I hear it is gorgeous. It must have been quite a change to go from So CA to Northern MI. I have lived here my whole life but I am meant to be in Florida. I keep trying to convince DH we need to move. I need palm trees Maybe someday. Every year at work he has to fill out a form re: whether he is willing to relocate. Finally this year he said he was willing to move to Florida or the Carolinas. Just have to keep my fingers crossed.

It was hard the first year. I spent most of my time plotting ways to move back. lol There isn't much to do although it is pretty. Actually I guess there is alot to do if you are very athletic and outdoorsy. I am neither.

If you ever make it up this way I can show you around town. Here are some pics of the area I took not too long ago (May?):

Warning, I am one of those who will bore you to tears with photos of the kids and vacations.
Anyways, I'll keep my fingers crossed as well that the move you are wishing for comes through.

TJMAXX... blah! That's a crazy store! It is very disorganized. Same here, I'd rather pay a full price and not waste time looking. Well.. we just came back from Target and Old Navy. We like the eatery at Target. The pizza there is good and we always get the slushies.

Thanks for sharing that nice very serene pictures! You're lucky, you're very close to Traverse City and not too far away from Mackinac City. We've only been to Traverse City once and we love it. We've been to Makinac Island a few times and never get tired of going "Up North." Wish we were up there where you are. It seems more quiet there and slower pace. Anyways.. "Welcome to Michigan." Michigan where the weather is vey unpredictable and don't always trust the weather man/woman. They are not always right and I think their guess is just as good as ours.

I have families in California, Long Beach. My sister and her family lives in Monterey area. Maybe about an hour away from San Jose or San Francisco?
I don't mind living in the northern Cali.. but the south Cali, the pace is too fast for me..

This made me laugh so much!! I live in Kansas, very near to the geographical center of the US. We get weather systems coming in from all sides, and often the weather report will call for sunny, nice weather - meanwhile I look outside and it is cold & rainy. Or vice versa. Or huge hailstones in July in 92 degree weather. I lived in FL for 15+ years, where pretty much the weather you wake up to is what you're gonna get all day, and it rains every day at 4pm in the summer. I will never get used to weather that can change 30+ degrees in the space of one day!

As for the meteorologists around here... I think my 2yo DD could do better. She can say "hot," "cold," "warm," and "wet." There's one guy on TV here who actually brings his dogs in to predict the weather!

There's a well-known saying 'round these parts: "If you don't like the weather in Kansas, wait 20 minutes." In my opinion, that's too long.

I went to the Aveda Institute several years ago in MN and there was a girl in my class who worked at the Aveda store in Somerset. It sounds lovely if I recall her speaking of it. If you read way back on the thread, one of my dreams is to visit Mac(k?)inac Island. Anywhere near you?? I need to re-visit my geography as well as my spelling.

FortheLoveofD My heart goes out for you. Wanting a child and having trouble with it has to be one of the hardest things a woman can go through. I am 38 and still single (long story) and always thought I would have children. When things did not work out I was not too worried but as the years go by and my prince charming has not come along (anyone seen him?), I start to get a little freaked. People keep saying "you can do it on your own, ya know" but I am just too old-fashioned, I suppose. I admire women greatly who can do this, but right now it is just not for me. I want the whole package or nothing at all. Is this selfish of me?? Anyway, keep your chin up and I will keep you in my prayers. You need to take care of yourself, too--watch what you are doing--be careful with the lifting, etc. GET MY POINT?? Know that you have people who care, my friend.

MImomof3--been there, done that........give your DD a hug. She is too young, but it hurts. Going off to college will be good for her. Men, I'll tell ya (sorry nice guys out there, no offense...and...if you are one of those.....do you have a brother??)

Beth, Those pictures are gorgeous. I could handle it up there at this time of year but I hate cold and snow. I'm like you, I don't do anything outdoorsy. When I was in my mid-30s I developed asthma that is triggered by cold, dry air so I use that as my excuse to not go sledding,skiing etc. the real reason is that I don't want to I love Mackinaw Island, we will have to go to TC soon. DH loves it up there, we just never seem to make it. I am always planning trips to WDW .

Telly, how old are your kids? They are so cute. My kids are DD18, DS14 and DS 13. My boys are only 18 months apart but couldn't be any different. DD gets along with the 13 yr old but she and the 14 yr old fight like the proverbial cats and dogs. I keep telling them they will love each other when they are older but they just look at me like I've grown an extra head

My kids are 9 and 7. Yep, when I was a teen, my sister and I would always fight. But after she got married and out of the house.. we got along better. I guess sometimes it is better to not live with your siblings, it's better that way sometimes.

2xcited2slp.. Hi there!! And welcome pigletz!

2xcited2slp, I am no where near Makinac (it can also be spelled Makinaw) Island. I am about 4.5 hours away from there. It is a beautiful island. That's where "Somewhere In Time" were filmed. BTW.. that's one of my favorite classic movie. Anyways.. the only way to get around the island is to walk it or bike it, or use the carriage. No motor vehicle is allowed, I guess maybe an ambulance or the fire truck.

We try to come here every year or every other year. I was hoping we will make it there this year, but with the gas price, I'm not sure. Hope you can make it up there!

It's about a 2 and a half to 3 hour drive to Mackinac City from here. Depends on how often we have to stop for the kiddos. It's is very nice there too. Went there last summer.

I was LOL about the weather. It's so true. They don't seem to know what they are talking about!!!

Long Beach is very nice. Queen Mary and all. We went to San Francisco once about 2 years ago before we moved here. Did the typical tourist things, bridge, island, etc. It was fun, but there was no parking anywhere!! lol

We just got back from two weeks back in CA. visiting DH's family who still lives there. It was so odd to be back. Very crowded. And the housing market is nuts there. I miss it, but doubt I could live there again. I agree that Northern CA is much nicer and if (big if) we ever move back that's where it will be.

Too bad none of you MI people are closer. lol I am just to far from the action now.

Telly-- I remember reading a novel when I was in about 6-7 grade--that tells you how long ago this was--and it was set on Mac. Island. It intrigued me to no end about no cars and has stuck with me ever since. Obviously I haven't made it there yet but someday (keeping my fingers crossed). I have a client who goes every year to a nearby island?? and takes the ferry over to Macinac for the day because she said staying there is way too expensive (esp. the Grand Hotel). I keep saying "more than WDW deluxe??"

There is a Great Wolf Lodge in town. You could stay there. (not WDW, I know. )

I hate the cold and snow too. The kids love it. Of course it takes forever to get them dressed to go out in the winter!!

And deer hunting season is something new to me too. Our first year here, they were doing target pratice not far from our house and the sound of shots scared the crap out of me!!

When you are from the Los Angeles area, the sound of shots fired means something else entirely.

It is too bad we will miss you in WDW! But we are hoping to make this an annual thing so start thinking about next year. No hubby's or kiddos though.
