I love the Food Network too. I am addicted to 30 Minute Meals and Semi Homemade!

I love 30 Minute Meals and any of the competions. DH can't understand how I can watch cooking shows and not be able to cook at all (he cooks, I bake).

I don't cook. I hate to cook. Perhaps I should watch the Food Network and get some ideas. 30 Minute Meals sounds right up my alley? Have any of you tried making a 30 minute meal from the show? Did it really only take 30 mins?

I go through phases of watching the Food Network. Mostly I am in awe of people who can cook. Count me among the ranks of non-cookers. If it doesn't come with instructions on the package, I can't make it (and sometimes not even then!) Last month I got adventurous and tried to cook a frozen chicken breast - I had to throw out the whole pan. However, I can whip up a mean batch of cookies!

As far the cupcakes/cheesecake thing... yeah, I actually prefer cheesecake too. But cupcake is such a fun word! Say it with me now: cupcake. cupcake. cup-cake. CUP! CAKE!

April, thanks a lot. Now I'll have that dippy ABBA song stuck in my head all day!

cupcake!

Personally, I've watched several of her episodes, but haven't really tried any of her stuff. Much of what she does looks good, though. I would recommend watching the show a couple times, and see if you like her. If you haven't watched him, Alton Brown is entertaining and informative. His show is Good Eats.
For me, cooking is a chore, yes. I work all day, then I usually come home and cook. But... I love to eat. I love good food. Therefore, I've learned to love to cook. Cooking now has almost become a 'challenge' for me - an "I can do that", throwing down the gauntlet kind of thing.

I watched his new show "Feasting on Asphalt" last night. It was pretty good. For the first time ever on a Food Network show, I saw someone actually say they didn't like something. He actually threw something in the trash!
Pickled pigs' feet, wasn't it?? I'd have thrown it in the trash too. :crazy2: But then again, I wouldn't have gotten it in the first place.

DH tried a couple times and it took more than 30 minutes.

I love the competitions, especially the baking competitions! I would love to become a cake decorator. I think I might take a cake decorating class.

April- I tried one of the 30 min meals a while ago. I think I made some meatloaf and some mashed potatoes and it only took me about 30 or 40 minutes.

Cupcake!

I've made a couple of the "30 minute meals" before. Usually takes 30 - 40 minutes.

Speaking of food......It's nearing lunch time (at least here in Oklahoma).......
So......what's for lunch today?

Have have leftover cheeseburgers that I grilled Tuesday.

Nothing. I'm working through lunch doing some filing so I can rack up the overtime for extra cash on my WDW trip! :teeth:

Hey everybody!!

Well I'm here, in Florida. Yesterday's flight turned out OK! When I was checking my bag, I just asked the woman who was giving me my boarding pass if there was an aisle seat available and she asked if I would be willing to sit in the exit row..That was the only aisle seat left. And I got it! Now I'm spoiled with all that leg room! So I just watched TV the whole flight, relatively anxiety-free! It was nice.

My Aunt Melanie picked me up from the airport, I went to my mom's house and saw her since it was her lunch hour, then I went to my Mom's parents, my other Aunt Brooke's house (her date went smashing, by the way! :rotfl: ), went to my favorite Spanish resturant La Bamba (like the song) with my Dad's parents and went to the Marlin's Game! The day was exhausting, I had a great time even though the Mets won 6-5. It was HOT though!!! OH! And I won a free Marlin's T-shirt and my mom won a Marlin's jersey. I wanted to go to the casino afterwards, I was feeling lucky!!! :thumbsup2 But, I didnt. I came home and crashed and didn't get up until like 45 minutes ago, I was so exhausted. It was weird sleeping in my childhood room!!

Today I'm going to lunch with my mom and my Aunt Melanie to Cheeseburger in Paradise. I'm not sure what I'm doing tonight.

I see you all have been pretty busy!! I feel so left out! Hopefully when I return on Monday, I can catch up!!! :teeth: :wizard:

Wow Ashley, I'm tired just reading your post! That was a very busy day indeed. Glad the flight turned out ok. I love the exit rows, but since I have little ones I can't sit there anymore. Hope your visit continues to go well!!

I love to cook but I enjoy baking much more. Tues. I baked this choc. chip cookie dessert ,used a whole pkg. of pre-packaged cookie dough rolled out to one huge cookie and put cream cheese mixed w/sugar on top and choc. pudding and nuts on top of that..and it was gone yesterday!! Guess they like it :) One of my favorites is a turtle cake.... yummm choc.,caramel.... ohhhh I just finished lunch I shouldn't be thinking about food! I had leftovers... rotisserie chicken, grean beans from the garden, potato cake and cheddar bay biscuit like at red lobster :) dh cooks since he's home...thankfully he is great at it. Since he's been home he's been trying new things in my Pampered Chef cookbooks. that stuff is fantastic. If you want any recipies let me know...I've got about everything they've ever sold. My sister use to sell it :thumbsup2

DznyFan...do you still live in OH? Some of the guys I work w/are die hard OSU fans... naturally..here in Columbus! My boss has club level seats for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Indians...but here they swear they bleed scarlet and grey :) Love the cruise pix!!!! I can't wait to go again!! Maybe I can talk dh into one soon.

lyzziesmom...OT...what is that??? I'm salary...don't get any ot:(!! what sucks is if we leave early...we don't get 40...if we work over 40...we still get 40!! Hopefully I can do something about that soon... like part time from home!!! That would be so awesome! I'm sure the extra cash will be nice for WDW... you all will have to take plenty of pix.

Nicole...I'm game for a meet! :cool1: I'm always ready to go to wdw or a cruise!! I'd have to talk dh into it,but I don't think that would be TOO hard... you just have to ask about it at the right time :rolleyes1 !! I don't know who else would be interested... I can get off work about anytime I want. I might have to take a laptop and do some work from the room but it's better than nothing. Work keeps wanting to fly me down to one of our offices an hour from WDW :) but nothing is scheduled yet. Would be nice to transfer to FL but dh thinks its too hot...

pozey...you've got a lucky wife and family :) we'll all have to get down there sometime!!

some of us are pretty close to each other... Ohio, Michigan,Indiana... where are you all from?

Howdy Ho Ranger Jo and Josephines--

Gooooood Mornin' y'all (or afternoon)

don't know why I have the Southern flair in me today cuz I'm a midwesterner through and through. But I don't understand all the sports talk--not my thing. Sorry Pozey. We can talk cooking or baking, though. Or how you look like JD.

I see Miss Amber was our early riser this morning. YM doesn't count because she was night and morning all rolled into one.

And we had a new visiter --Hi to Love8me--interesting name. Pop in anytime.

And, I see you all noticed who paid us a little visit from her lovely room at HRH. HI again Miss Donna, safe travels home Saturday.

And speaking of travels--Miss Ashley--are you in the car yet?? Or still enjoying your momma visit??

And Miss Linda--lovely pics--makes both really tempting. We'll have to take a vote. Timing may be an issue with all of us so maybe we should seriously start looking into it?? Kenny is such a little punkin'!!!!!

And Miss April--aren't they great?? I just finished re-reading #1. Love it.
I only went to Universal one time about eight years ago for a whirlwind July 4 weekend with some friends. I don't know how I made it through that weekend. I had waaaay too many Blue Martinis at the Bob Marley clubspot at their CityWalk?? Can't remember the name of the place. Well, they were laaaaate nights and early mornings to hit the parks--I have not done a rollercoaster since. I am much more the PeterPan, HM, IASW, and who can forget POTC pirate: . I like the slooooow, calming rides now as an older chica.
Thanks for the song--oh to be seventeen again--no not really--only if I knew then what I know now. It's funny, we sing that song around the spa when we have a night full of waxing--only we sub "waxin' queen"--I made it up of course, now my whole team sings it. :lmao: You made me laugh.
30 minute meals take 30 minutes if you have everything chopped and prepped beforehand. IMO ;)

And Mr. Pozey (see I didn't slip)--"Chase's got a girlfriend, Chase's got a girlfriend" ;) ;)
I LOVE the FoodNetwork, but don't tell anyone I don't have cable or satellite. :scared1: :ssst: Maybe this is why I spend so much of my free time HERE. I catch it anytime I am over friend's or family.
My favorites are Giada DiLaurentis (met her in person, cuz I'm a SUPERSTAR--just kidding--did meet her though) (Everyday Italian) and Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa)--love Ina's food but sometimes she bugs me a bit. "Jeffrey is coming in from town and I always loooove to make him his favorite roasted chicken." whatever Ina. :goodvibes Nah, she's okay.

And Miss Nicole--Hi chickie!! Thanks for the congrats on my chattiness. I say go for the cake decorating--if not just for a hobby. How fun.

And Miss DznyFan--How about JD with sorbet?? Didn't mean for this to sound disgusting but somehow it did. Ignore this comment.
Good luck on your oral surgeon. When will this happen??
I used to have a fear of needles but had to get over that really quick due to some medical treatments I have to have ALL of the time. YUK. You get used to the needles but my dreams of becoming a hand model are shattered. :teeth:
and for your DH--squeak squeak squeak

And Miss Lyzziesmom--wow, making me AND the boss lady cry in one day. You're ruthless (will you please edit this--Spelling Nazi). Or should I say you're a mean batch of cookies.
Oh, and did you happen to see my little nighty-night ditty last evening??
Am I still the ninny, because DznyFan is volunteering to take my place for the day.
Cupcake; cup-cake; CUP! CAKE! --you've GOT to read Stephanie Plum!!!!! Trust us. Target--papberback. start with #1 and move on accordingly.
"Mamma Mia--here I go again--my my, how can I.................."
PIRATE.

And just for Miss YM so I don't get into trouble again today--HIIIII!!!!!!! :worship: :worship:

And for anyone else I might have missed -- HELLLLLLOOOO

And---psyche. :rolleyes1

Bu-bye for now. :drive: :drive:

2xcited2slp......your posts always crack me up. :thumbsup2

Wow, so much to catch up on!

Donna...so glad to hear from you. You are so lucky to be in WDW right now. How are the crowds?

We will be there in 13 days :cool1: We are staying at Coronado Springs in 2 rooms. That will be good, we are spoiled, we are used to staying at OKW in a 2 bedroom unit. Our ADRs are at Chef Mickey's, Teppanyaki, 50's Prime Time, Crystal Palace for breakfast our last day and Trails End at Fort Wilderness, that one was the kids choice. We are all picky eaters, except DH, so it was hard to choose places where everyone would eat.

Lyzziesmom... that is too funny that you made your boss cry. It is so nice to be appreciated isn't it? There are many days I would like to make my boss cry!!

HelloKitty...I'm glad you made it safely to Florida. How lucky are you to get the exit row aisle seat. Plenty of leg room. Have a great time visiting with your relatives and good luck with the car.

Have to take DS for a sports physical so he can start real practices on Monday. I am so happy today, the weather broke last night. It is only supposed to be around 82 today plus it is overcast and rainy which we really needed. So all of my windows are open and the house is getting aired out :thumbsup2

I am having so much fun rereading the Stephanie Plum books. I am grabbing them in no particular order tho. Read 7 then 6 then 2 now I just finished 3. I had forgotten how much Ranger changed thru the series. That was a little weird. I was reading a part thinking wait Ranger wouldn't do that, or say that. Thanks for mentioning it I thought I was loosing my mind. :confused3

Hello to everyone else, I will try to catch up more later. TTFN

Umm--are you giving me the thumbs up, a pointer, or another that we dare not mention?? Just asking due to some previous posts. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 ;)

Off to work-- :wave2: :smokin:

Ok so I'm sitting here reading all the recent posts - my but aren't we a chatty bunch today! - and I'm thinking we are all a little nutty. A possible new name for us: Mixed Nuts! ?? Huh? Huh?? Or does that just sound good to me because I skipped lunch and you all have to talk about FOOD?

Linda, I am SO onboard with the idea of a WDW meet. I'm afraid a cruise is a little out of my budget if I were to bring the kiddies, and I'd feel too guilty to go on a Disney cruise without them. I won't have any more vacation time until after the 1st of the year, because I managed to stretch my 2 weeks this year into THREE Orlando trips. (I need to just admit my problem and upgrade to an AP.) Oh and Donna... reservations for breakfast would be lovely. :goodvibes

2xcited - I loved your little bedtime ditty! In fact, it is very similar to one I said to my girls: Good night, sleep tight, don't let the spiders bite. And if they do, you know what to do... flush them down the loo!

Michele, your ADR's sound great! Lyzzie and I are very picky eaters in totally opposite ways (she doesn't do meat, I don't do veggies & fruits), so we always have a hard time agreeing on where to go. Buffets are a big hit for us!

cupcake!

So when sounds good to you guys??? We just try to avoid the heat and crowds... anyone have a manditory time to take vacation? We're easy...dh retired...I can go about anytime :woohoo: I just have to give my XH notice by Mar31;) :lmao: ...they might take me to court over it!!!

After mid-February works best for me so I can use part of my tax return to finance it. (I don't use credit cards.) I totally agree with avoiding heat & crowds! This year I was at Universal and Sea World in early March (before Spring Break) and it was lovely; we had the place almost to ourselves!

Wow I think this sets a new personal record for me: thinking about a WDW trip before I've even gone on my next one! Usually I don't start to think about the next one until I'm on the plane going home.
