My first instinct would be to accept the invitation to your lovely mother's house, and then when you are extremely late, tell her you aren't coming. :teeth:

But as that would be childish, simply tell her you're sorry, but you just can't possibly find the time to visit but you'd love to get together another time. Then spend the time you were supposed to be at her house doing something indulgent for yourself for your birthday!

lyzziesmom....I was thinking the exact same thing...we all have the childish side in us...or rather the "get even" side. :rolleyes1

DisneyGirl1488--So sorry your birthday dinner plans were upset. I really don't have any advice for you, what we would like to do and what is the right thing to do is hard to decide sometimes.

fortheloveofdisney--Certainly a delicate situation, but I think you handled it with honesty and class!!

I looked for the Stephanie Plum books at Walmart today, but they only had 11 and 12. Aren't these books a series that you need to read in order? May have to go to the library for the early books.

I have a headache from all of the excitement last night and a little allergy problem as well!!

The idea of a girls meet someday sounds super. DS7 probably wouldn't like me going to WDW without him-I created a monster!!!!

Going to take Tylenol and call DH in AZ. See Ya'!!

Hello all,

Well, it's Saturday night and I.....................hey, isn't that a song?? You know the rest :teeth: Poor me. Not really. hehe

I got home from work late this afternoon and had to take a nap and guess what?? Now I am WIDEAWAKE. :bitelip: :bitelip:

I had a good day at work. Very busy. I am glad we are closed tomorrow, however, but back at 7am Monday morn. I am lucky, though, because for the most part I do love my job. I work in a spa. :ssst: Now, before you start saying "ooohhh, how wonderful", I would have to say yes and no to that. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and I get to meet some really awesome people. On the other hand, the "behind the scenes" are a little hectic, if you can imagine. I take care of people and pamper them all day long, so no matter how my day is going I always have to be bright and cheery for them. I'll tell you what, though.....somedays I do go to work in not the greatest mood and as soon as I get there I feel better. Who knew. We have lots, and I mean lots of goals to meet though, and that can be a bit nerve racking. And, I work some crazy hours, but I have been doing this for nine years now and have a pretty good set of clientelle so it is hard for me to change my schedule now. Oh well, the ups and downs of all jobs.

Also, it has really brought this little shy person out of her shell.

I have to admit when I first started this it was difficult for me to approach a stranger and start talking but now I am an old pro at it. Imagine that. I remember years ago when I was dating my exBF. (I did not do this type of work) He used to complain that I was not "talkative" enough and he always felt like he had to entertain me. We split up. :rotfl2: (I can do this now.) Anyway, after we split I went to school for my esthetics license--he was shocked, BTW, to hear that I actually moved out of town for this. I moved back home and started working in the spa and got really good at it. Anyway, one day he called me. "Let's have dinner", he says. We meet. We "try again". We get comfortable with each other again, but..........he starts seeing this "new girl"............the girl who laughs, the girl who starts a conversation in the market with a total stranger, the girl who.........well, you get the picture. Anyway, after only about two months (we were together for 6 yrs. prior), he decides....not gonna work. Can you say
C-O-N-T-R-O-L??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Wow, all of this from "how was your day, dear?" :confused3 :rotfl:

DonnaLeah: Glad you didn't get the books out of order. I would start with the first one "One for the Money". Our Walmart had a all 12 (1-11 in paperback on a display). When I saw them I just had to start at one again. My Ds (6) and DS (9) wouldn't like me to sneak away to Disney...but hey where ther's will there's a way. My DH and I took a trip to Anaheim in Oct 03 (actually I was at a "convention") and stayed at the Disneyland hotel. Since they have never been there we just said we were going to Anaheim. They just recently figured out the Anaheim= Disneyland. :teacher:

2exctd2slp: :hyper2: I'm glad you like your job....my eyebrows would be grown together without the nice wax that is applied to them. I try to get a 30 minute facial when I can (would everytime if DH didn't give me the  ) Glad your day went well.

So, let's catch up, shall we??

Lyzziesmom-- You have lots of decisions, girl. Weigh your options. Remember, though, it is very rare to find the "perfect" house. Sometimes don't you wish you could take a little of this one, a little of that one..............wait, that's called custom building..........yeah, hello to me and slap the forehead. But personally, I do not have the time nor the $$$ for that. You said you made a bid on the UGLY one?? When will you find out?? Keep scouring the area and the internet. Good luck. BTW, I am not too far from you. St. Louis. I go to KC every so often. Gotta love the Plaza.

MImom--woohoo, another Stephanie Plum fan. It cracks me up that your mom and dad read them too. That's great. I don't think I could get my mother to pick up any kind of novel if I wanted to. Isn't that sad?? She is just not a book reader and she admits it. My dad has no time. Constantly working. He owns his own business so his idea of reading is computer magazines. Lovely.

DonnaLeah--hello neighbor. So, I am taking it that Buddy is no longer lost?? Call your hubby and get some rest. Where are we with your countdown?? (sorry, I lost track) 15??????

Amber--I am so sorry this happened to you, especially for your birthday lunch. Can you call your mom to see what the problem was?? Maybe let her know how hurt you were?? Or should you just let it go?? Hopefully you were able to semi-enjoy your lunch. Don't let this get you down. Your B-day is your day, so enjoy.

April, April, April--- :sad2: Why do people put others in positions like this?? My first reaction is that your niece is an adult and should be able to make her own decisions and her mother should realize this. But, on the other hand, she should have thought before her actions, knowing that it would upset her mother and had no right to use you as her "alibi". This was not very "adult-like" on her part. I am sorry you had to go through this, but it sounds like you handled it with integrity. You were just trying to help family and, even though we all have not "known" each other for long, personality shines through and we can tell what type of person you are and they should feel honored to have you as a part of their family. ::yes::

HelloKitty-Ashley-Kitty :wave2: :wave2:........... hi. How often does your mom get to go to WDW?? Lucky.

Good Evening YourMajesty (bow to you)-----I am not sure if I'll be able to get to read the new one tomorrow. I just made last minute plans with my parents and my laundry is screaming at me. I will most difinitely, though, next weekend, if not sooner. So then we can "discuss". I have to admit when I first started reading these they scared me a bit. I have slight chicken traits (personality, not physical :lmao: ) The first one to me was bit disturbing but just tried to enjoy the funny parts. A friend got me started on them because I am half Italian and she thought it may remind me of my family. :confused3 Ummm, yeah, not so much. My family is not that crazy. :teeth: Wouldn't it be funny if movies were made from these. Casting would have to be carefully mastered, though.

To all of you who have not read the Stephanie Plum books but want to: just a warning they to have quite the language and can get a bit steamy, but they are great and hilarious!!!!

hi to everyone else :wave2: :dance3:

Oh my goodness...we have a real Stephanie Plum with us. :lmao: Glad to know your chicken traits are not physical (you could be Ms. Cluck from Cluck in a Bucket). :rotfl: I would a agree with you that the first one was kind of creepy. One of my favorites was the one when they went to Las Vegas...really did alot of :rotfl2: (can't remember which one it was). Yes, the language is not the best. The movies would be R for language and yes the casting.....so do you have blue eyes and brown curly hair. ;)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Yes, actually..........and my car has gotten vandalized, but not blown up. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: But no pet hamster in a soup can. :teeth:

Good mornign all!!!
YourMajesty--I am SURE the One to Eleven book was at Walmart, I just thought that was the title for the 11th book!!(slapping forhead and saying"duh") I will have to pick it up sometime today. Disneyland!! I have relatives that live nearby in the Yorba Linda area, but have not been to visit since 2000!! As a child we spent many summers visiting and of course going to Disneyland. My mother has a picture of me in a stroller at 9 mos. old!! Oh the memories!! :goodvibes

Hello, clynnjones!!!!

2xcited2slp--You work in a spa!!?? Hmm that sounds very interesting. I know of several people that changed careers after long years in their professions to get training for massage therapy. They really enjoy it very much!! Yes I found Buddy, but he is such a social butterfly he's hard to keep around. We have purchased a wireless radio fence for him, but haven't installed it yet!! I am afraid he is going to get hurt or ran over by a car one of these days, I'm kind of attached to the little mutt!! :dogdance:

I have a shopping day planned with my Mom, Sis and Niece. A chance to get away while the guys are gone. May do a little shopping for my trip....shoes , I need shoes and lots of 'em!!!!

Bye for now. Maybe someone will wake up soon!!! :surfweb:

Good morning everybody!

I'm up, bright eyed- and bushy tailed. Actually, not really. My husband and I always fight on the weekends, because he annoys me. We didn't go to bed until late last night, and I wake up this morning to him getting up at 9 am. I know to most of you, thats not too early but we didn't go to bed until like 2:30 am. Anyway, I say, "What are you doing, go back to bed" "Oh, I'm just going to the bathroom" Well he says this is me EVERY day on the weekends, and for some reason I believe him. Well, this time I waited up for him because I had to go too. Well he never came back and here I am, waiting while my bladder is about to burst. When it has seemed like forever, I go out to see if hes laying unconscious on the bathroom floor and what is he doing but laying on the couch watching TV. I know its not a big deal but it annoys me that he lies to me and says one thing and does another. He knows when I ask, "What are you doing" that means GET BACK INTO BED. He constantly complains that he is too tired during the week and I really believe its because he doesn't get enough rest during the weekend, because he doesn't sleep enough and gets up and reads stupid freaking comic books online.

Anyway. So we're fighting and he is BACK in bed and I'm sitting in here. I am so immature, but oh well. He always does it and it makes me mad.

//// vent over.

ANYWAY. Yesterday it was SO HOT, 101 degrees. We were out and our stupid air conditioning in the car doesn't work, I was so hot! I had to stop at Old Navy and buy a tank top to wear right then.

2xcited: My parents go to WDW pretty often. I was raised in Ft.Lauderdale, FL where they still live and its only about a 3 hour drive to Disney. We used to go there alot when I was growing up, and they just bought another house in Gainesville which is pretty close to WDW, so while they were up there visiting they decided to make another WDW trip. They got there last night and they are driving home today, after visiting Epcot. That sounds exhausting to me, but I'm still jealous they are there!!

DonnaLeah: I'm so glad Buddy was found. (Thats my cats name, BTW.) :) Hope you have fun shopping!!

Amber: I went to Olive Garden last night, thanks to you! I was craving their alfredo dipping sauce and bread sticks (fattening) after I heard you went there. Have you decided if your going to your moms or not?

Oh, Donna---

Are you really up that early on a Sunday?? Sunday?? Where's a smilie with sleepy eyes?? Can't find one--how about "not -----> :bitelip: ". That will have to do.

So glad Buddy has returned. Did you ever see the movie "Elf" with what's his name??..............thinking............... :sad2: ..........lost it. Anyway, the line when he is first leaving Santa's and that wierd animal thingy says in that wierd drawly low-toned voice, "Bye Buddy, hope you find your daaaad". Cracks me up every time. Shrug, guess you gotta be there. It is such a silly, wacky, stupid movie but is good for a laugh if you have a dry sense of humor like me.

Yes, I do work in a spa. I used to do massage years ago. Did not expect to when I first started my job but for some reason where I work we can do massage under our esthetics license. I did that in addition to facials, waxing, etc. but "retired" from massage several years ago due to health reasons. It just wore me out too much. Now my days consist of the things I really love to do. Facials and waxing. Just call me the Anastasia of the midwest--just not $75+ a pop and no stencils here, baby. Just natural talent. Wow, that sounded really big-headed and that is just not me. Forgive me. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Have a good shopping trip today and will you please get some sleep, girl. :bitelip:

I wish I knew how to wax for my own self, you must have very nice eyebrows. :) I saw that woman you are talking about on Oprah. I thought those stencil kits were interesting. I've never seen that before, but I think she said you could buy them at Sephora. (Sigh, I love that store, It's like heaven.) I would never buy it anyway, its too much of a hassle, I would rather just go to someone like you and have you do them for me. :sunny:

Good morning Ashley--

That was a great line, "my husband and I always fight on the weekends because he annoys me". I laughed---out loud, mind you. They can be that way sometimes, can't they?? Annoying. Maybe this is why I am still single. Maybe not. Don't know.

Yes, it is way hot here as well. I do not like it, yet I do not like bitter cold either. I like PERFECT weather. Not too picky, am I??

I know Ft. Lauderdale very well. I have an aunt who has lived in Dania ever since I was a little girl. We visited all of the time and then drove to WDW. This is why I am such a Disneyfreak. Anyway, she still lives there, even though I am not very close to her anymore. But, my sister lived in S. Florida for about ten years, starting off in Lauderdale (Los Olas area) and finally ending up a bit further north in Delray Beach. They moved back home for about two years and now have to move back to Florida. So, needless to say, this area has been sort of my second home for several years. What brought you to VA??

2xcited:

I love South Florida. I really miss it. I grew up in Plantation, a suburb. (I'm not sure if you've ever heard of it- but its very close to the downtown Ft.Lauderdale area) We moved to Virginia because my husband (yep, there he goes again) got a job offer making more money up here. What we didn't think of was how INSANELY EXPENSIVE the housing is here and everything else! I want to move home as soon as we possibly can, our lease expires in October (or is it November? mental note). I miss Florida alot! (And I guess my family plays a big role- but I don't know how I'll feel when I get down there, you know distance makes the heart grow fonder!!) I don't think I got that saying right, OH WELL. However I don't miss the hurricanes. !!!

Stay single!!! :teeth:

AAWWW, that's sweet, thanks.

I have just okay brows. I wish they were thicker. This is what I have seen so many times over the years--people who have over-tweezed or over-waxed and they just do not grow back.

This is my favorite line I learned from school-----"You pluck chickens, you tweeze brows." :lmao: :lmao:

I wish my eyebrows weren't so thick! Ugh, I hate them. They do look nice after they are waxed though, for about 5 minutes until the hair starts growing back! I have seen the over-plucking thing, though. Thats really annoying. I feel bad for those people, but I guess they just use an eyebrow pencil or something??

I can imagine how hard it is to be away from family. I know my mom was crushed when my sister moved away and she is doubly crushed now that they have to move back because not only is she losing her daughter, she is now losing her three grandchildren. OUCH. Is the cost of living that much more in VA?? I suppose it is----right now I cannot picture where VA is----who am I kidding saying right now :rotfl2: ---more like never. Geography (and not so sure spelling) ----not my thing. East coast?? guess.

I think I may have to run now. My phone line is busy when I am here and I can just imagine steam coming out of some ears trying to get ahold of me. Have a good day and take a deep breath about your hubby. Pick your battles--that's my motto.

Hi cutie Ruby!!! pug:

2xcited: It has been hard being away from family. I especially miss my mom, I talk to her every day. Thanks for your motto, it did help. Now I'll just go apologize.

Have a great day!!

Ashley & 2xcited - I lived down by Ft. Lauderdale, in Coral Springs, for 15 years! I miss being able to just up & go to WDW for a weekend whenever I felt like it (& had some spare cash) but other than that, I'm sooo glad I don't live there anymore. Too darn hot & humid! And too much of a "party town" in my opinion. Yep, parties & retirees. As soon as my 1st DD came along, I hightailed it out of there. Of course, we still find ourselves returning for vacation quite often... in fact this year will be 4, count 'em FOUR, trips to Orlando! (I've had a very good year!) That way we can have a really fun vacation, and DD's dad & grandparents can drive up from Coral Springs & see us.

Anyway, I think we've decided to take a break from the househunting. My dad is disappointed that I wasn't crazy about the cheap house they liked, and I think they decided not to make the offer. We'll talk about it today. The folks are funny though, because first they say "let's just cool it for now" and then they say "well you know we are going to put your name on the house too, so it will be part yours and you will get a percentage of the profit when it sells." But no pressure!

It's dad's birthday today, so we will be there most of the day I think. Tomorrow the folks are going to consult with the bank to see about how much higher they can go on the price and keep the monthly payments roughly equal to what I'm now paying in rent. Since my rent is creeping up on $1000/month, that should make things much easier to find something we are all pleased with.

I watched something on tv last night about a couple trying to 'flip' a house, and it was so funny because this guy had absolutely NO idea what he was doing and everything went wrong. I could totally see that happening with my family! Of course, it being television, everything turned out just fine and they made a tidy profit.

Anyway, at least this whole house episode has cooled my WDW obsession, for a while anyway! I'm the type of person who, once I get an idea in my head, I can't let go of it and my days & nights are obsessed with research and worry. (If you couldn't tell! Hee.) Our upcoming September WDW trip will be our 3rd this year, but my parents are coming too and I don't think they have been in maybe 7 or 8 years, and it will be their 1st time staying on property and on DDP, so they have asked me to be the "travel agent" and do all the planning. They usually cruise, so they enjoy not having to make too many decisions. I of course had the whole trip planned within a matter of days, and that left me with several months to second-guess the plans! It is so much more stressful to plan for other people, because although they SAY they don't care what we do & where we eat, I just know that if they don't like it, suddenly it will be "what were YOU thinking?" Ah well, such is life.

Wow, I usually am not this garrulous, but something about this thread & this friendly non-clique of people really gets me going!! Look for my next novel, coming soon to a thread near you!

Hi everyone! I did absouly nothing yesterday. I was suppost to go to a jewlery show but SIL never called. I didn't mind though. I need to start saving my money for WDW and Vegas now.
