Whew, just got through catching up with my peeps!

MI mom of 3 that was so scary reading about your son. I am so glad that he is ok. I was on the edge of my seat reading your post and I am just truly glad that he is ok. I myself was hit by a car when I was 7! I was in the ICU and the hospital for weeks and I had to wear a body cast. It was awful!! I hate hearing about children being hit by cars.

Tinkerbell_Girl I hope all works out with the transmission! Man do I hate when Real Life gets in the way of my Disney trips!!! :furious: I always say life is what I endure between my Disney trips. My niece who's up from Georgia was telling her uncle Steve how I want to go to Disney so bad I can't stand it. She doesn't have to tell him, he already knows. Disney is my drug of choice!

DonnaLeah Yea!!! I am celebrating with you!! :woohoo: 18 more days!! :woohoo: Can I come too?

Dropping in to say "hello" :) Just so excited!!! Today is DH44's last day of work. He's retiring :woohoo: He's spent the last 26 yrs in the military. 21 yrs full time. He thinks he'll be so bored... I told him we can always move to WDW and work there a few days a week for fun!!! He says it's too hot :(. I'll have to work on him!! I'm so proud of him!! I'll miss the active duty discounts, but well worth the trade knowing he'll be at home SAFE!!!
How great to have DH home! I like the idea of working for the Mouse! Thank your DH for his service to our country!! :thumbsup2

Yesterday when he said he wanted Subway I was so happy to get out of the house I realized I still had my pink fuzzy slippers on!!! I posted about it here:

:rotfl: :rotfl: Bless your heart! That sounds like something I would do? By the way, did you ever get a chance to look up the drive in?

Well, I've been busy the past few days spending time with my nieces and nephews. Yesterday my oldest niece and I went to the beach. Today we ran the country side going to all the places she likes to visit when she makes it up this way. Tomorrow is my errand day so she'll probably just spend the day hanging out. Maybe get a chance to catch up on her rest.
I have to go to my thyroid doctor which is always a chore because they have a horrible time scheduling people. The last two times I was there I sat in the waiting room for over an hour. One man got rather stern with them which is what I would have liked to do but I knew (from past experiences at other doctors) that when you say something about being inconvenienced for having to wait over an hour for your scheduled appointment time, the desk personnel and nurses get snotty with YOU! When he said something (and I heard the whole thing) he was not harsh or mean, just stern in voicing his opinion and sure enough they got very nasty with him! Telling him, "Well, sir, we had emergencies. And if you had an emergency you would want us to make time to see you." Um, that's not the point. You could come out and let people know. Let people know incase they want to reschedule. But, they must always have emergencies because they have never run on time! Unfortunately, this is the only endocrinologist in my area so I'm sort of stuck! Wish me luck!

Well, that's all that is happening here. Talk to you all soon.

Well, Mom told me today that they've been looking at houses to buy as an investment property and rent to me & my girls. They did this for my little brother last year and apparently they are running out of things to fix! :rotfl:

While on the surface this sounds like a great thing, I am actually kinda torn. I really LIKE the apartment we are in right now. It's big & homey, yet cozy. The location is great. Utilities are low. We have 3 pools, including one indoor year-round pool, and a gym.

But there are also things I don't like. It's only a 2br, so the girls share a room. Not a problem now, but I can see them not liking it so much quite soon. The rent is high, and it's about to go up. Being an apartment, I feel like I'm limited in what I can do to make it feel like 'mine'. The neighbors are not friendly. (Been here a year and don't know a one).

I'm also not so sure I want my parents as my landlord. With my DB's house, they are in & out whenever it is convenient to THEM. They have a key & just enter as they please. All the remodeling is their choice, not his. They start projects & leave them unfinished for weeks until they get a chance to finish. I'm afraid they would try to pull this with me, and I won't have it. The houses they are looking at are ones I really don't like. The ones I like are ones they are not willing to look at, either due to price or location.

I have to renew my lease by August 15th and I don't know what I'm going to do!! Apparently my parents have been looking at houses for weeks and didn't even tell me! They didn't want me to "get my hopes up." While it is very exciting, I'm just feeling a little pressured to make a decision, and I'm a Libra, I suck at decision-making! :confused3

Ok, I feel much better now!

Ok so here is the front of my "fish" card:
07-11-2006085342PM.jpg

That is a glittery heart on the front, it's hard to tell because DD2 got a hold of it and tried to lick the glitter off. :crazy2:

And here is the inside:

All together now: "Awwwwwwwww."

AAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!!!! :fish: :fish: :fish:

That card is so sweet. I would have cried my eyes out!!

lyzziesmom: That card is the cutest thing I have ever seen!! As for the house situation, I don't know what I'd do! I wouldn't like anybody but me having a key to my house or having the ability to start projects without me approving...It's a hard call.

I hope everybody had a great day!

Mine was extremely boring because I stay at home all day, and my cable and internet is acting up. The internet guy is coming on Friday and the cable Saturday, but when I don't have school work to do or the ability to go on the disboards, I get very bored! And ofcourse I can't watch Oprah!

I've got the coffee going!!!! Time to get up and enjoy the beautiful day!!!! Well, here it's the clouds and humidity....just getting prepared for that Florida weather!!! ;) 17 more days until my yearly respite from reality.(until the credit card bill comes!!) Haven't started to pack yet because DH and DS leave Friday for Phoenix to visit my MIL, they will have the suitcases!!!!
April, you are very welcome to come too....your can help keep DS7 entertained!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: How many times are you capable of riding RNRC or Space Mountain in a row???!!!
Hellokitty86: Hope you get that cable to working!!! Will have to bring out the DVDs. I find sometimes the TV is on for the noise factor...can't have it too quiet around here!!!
Must go get ready to go to the salt mines, have a great day all!!!! :sunny: :butterfly :flower1: :dogdance:

PS I think I have designated myself as the official "bump" person for this thread!!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Good Morning All!

lyzziesmom: If it were me, I would take the house (I say this because I have been trying in vain to get my mother to buy a home in FL and let me live there. :sunny: )

I think before you did that you would need to establish ground rules. If they don't want to abide by them, you have to decide if the house is worth it.

Good Luck with your decision!

Good Morning!

Lindakmonty- Congratulations on your DH's retirement!

Fortheloveofdisney- I totally understand the whole doctor's appt. thing! I hate how some doctor's make us wait and then are hassled when we ask about the wait! About 2 weeks ago I had to go to the Dr's and I was the only one in there. Needless to say I was in and out of there. About a month ago I went to the dentist and had to wait almost an hour. There were also not many patients in there!

Hellokitty86- I hope you get everything fixed soon! It can be unbearable not to be able to Dis or watch tv! :teeth:

Lyzziesmom- the card is so cute! You have a very sweet daughter! I hope that whenever I have kids they are sweet as yours! As for the house I agree with DisneyGirl.

I saw POTC2 again last night b/c DBF was upset that I saw it without him on Sunday and I understood it a whole lot better this time! I'm glad I saw it again! I forgot to add that I saved $60 on my airfare for the trip. :cheer2: I'm still not sure if we will go but just in case we do.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Donna! :surfweb: 18 days?? Lucky...

just catching up -
Lyzziesmom, that card is the cutest! And I, too, concur with DisneyGirl.

Drgnfly - I got a chuckle about your slipper story...

Tinkerbell Girl - yea for saving $$ on tickets - I sure hope you get to go. Nothing should get in the way of a trip to Disney... even real life! But, unfortunately, it does.

LoveofDisney - hoping your Dr doesn't keep you waiting too long - I used to have a doctor's office that was like that - my appt would be at a certain time, and it would take 1 - 1 1/2 hours just to get called in from the waiting room. It is so frustrating, and such a waste of time!

Hoping everybody had a great evening and is having a great day - I'm still fighting with my TIVO - it keeps locking up and DirecTV said we had to totally reboot and wipe the hard drive. We lost ALL of our Disney stuff from Modern Marvels to Travel Channel and Food Network. AAARRRGGHHH!!! Then it started acting up again last night. I guess now they're going to send us a new receiver. I HATE TV and Net problems - I can so relate to HelloKitty's lament!

Back to work for me! I'll check in later -

Well I'm back from the doctor's office. I only had to wait 31 minutes before being called back (yes, I kept track) and then I had to wait another 11 minutes before she came into the room. So, luckily I was out of there in about 50 minutes today. :thumbsup2

DonnaLeah, I'd love to keep your DS7 company. We don't have any kidlets :sad1: and unfortunately no nieces or nephews I could take. They are of the anti-Disney persuasion :rolleyes2 . Of course I have my older niece (who is visiting w/ me now) really wants to go but she's 23.
I can ride RnR and Space Mountain many times. :thumbsup2 We'd have a great time.

lyzziesmom, what a sweet card. You'll have to keep that one forever. It is so sweet!!

Ashley, hope you get that cable and computer fixed. I am a stay at home wife as well and I think I'd go out of my head  without my t.v. and computer which many times is my connection to the outside world. :lmao:

Tinkerbell_Girl, how are the transmission repairs going? I'm so glad you saved $$$ on the tickets I hope this means the trip is a go!!

Well, just wanted to stop in and say hello. I'll stop in later. :wave2:

Hey there guys :)!!! I haven't been able to spend as much time on the DIS :( I've taken on a lot at work so hopefully I'll get a nice raise. I'm now billing and invoicing for most of the company, plus my regular duties... Once I get it all down I'll have more time to DIS :) I use to have it up 10 hrs a day and go in and out all day long... hopefully again soon!

Thanks to all of you that replied about dh retiring. He truly enjoyed serving in the military. He was going to retire in Jan 07 but he hurt his back, has tons of nerve damage in various parts of his body from the last 26 yrs. serving. He had to move his retirement up a few months. The military has been very good to us. Once he gets his retirement, his Veterans, and Soc. Sec. he'll be making as much, if not more than while he was working! Of coarse that is great. The only bad thing is I'll be wanting to travel and go to WDW or on DCL constantly knowing he doesn't have to be anywhere!

Disneygirl4188 congrats on the 500th post :)!!!

Lyzziesmom that card is adorable!!!! As far as your renting from your parents, it might not be bad at all. My mom actually rents off me :) It has worked very well for the past 4 years. It would probably be a great thing. Your parents are probably thinking of leaving the houses to you and your siblings anyway, right? That way it really helps both of you. Their investment is safe, clean and not torn up. It's a great tax write off!!! Your girls will have their own rooms... It depends how your relationship is w/your parents of coarse. It could be a great thing for all of you.

it was so nice dh this morning asking "do you want me to do anything today for you, is there anything that you want done? :)!!!! I'm going to like this!!! He already does most of the cooking, the cleaning...etc. but I'm gone minimum 12 hrs a day...so he just has more time. Now if I could just talk him into moving to WDW.... don't see it happening for awhile though, darn it!

have a great day :thumbsup2

Good afternoon everyone!!

Thanks for the well wishes with my computer..I think its the noise factor too, with the TV. Most of the time I'm not even watching it.

Ok- now I need your guys help because I'm not sure what to do.

DH figured out a way for the internet to work. We live in an old apartment building that I hate, and when we moved here in October and had the cable and internet hooked up, the guy said that the building is VERY old and that we only have 1 hook up for the cable and internet for the whole house. Well we were pretty upset because we were used to having a tv in the bedroom, but we've been dealing with that. Now because of that, he had to give us a splitter which I guess splits the cable and internet signal? I have no idea. Well DH was playing around with the splitter last night and figured out if he just plugged the main cable cord into the router it works perfectly. So I'm guessing its either #1- theres a problem with the spliter, and it can just be replaced which I PRAY is the problem, or 2- there is something wrong with the signal so now we can only use 1 at a time. It is very annoying because the cable will go out and nothing will record on our DVR and If me or DH is on the computer, the other can't watch the tv. ???? We don't have a main phone line, we only use cell phones so I would prefer we didn't have to get one to get AOL, plus I think that would be more expensive and I'm not thrilled with the speed of AOL in the first place.

Sorry thats so long, but do we have any other options if it can't be fixed? I hate this place and CAN'T WAIT until we can move!!!

Wow.... sorry you're having such problems Ashley! That doesn't sound like fun at all! Can you go through your cable and get road runner?

I've never heard of road runner! Our internet is through Comcast, along with my cable. But we don't have a contract with them so I could cancel it..I like our cable so I want to keep that.

Ashley

I don't have any advice for you as I don't know much about those things! I wish I could help you out thought. Hope you get everything straightened out soon.

Sorry, I just have to vent a little-

I'm sad, I found out today that my favorite radio station fired their morning show crew. :sad2: I've been listening to them since high school so for about 10 years. I sent them an angry email. Who will I listen to in the mornings now?

Sorry Ashley, it might not be available in your area :(
http://www.rr.com/rdrun/

We have Time Warner Cable. We have our Cable, Road Runner internet, and digital phone all on one bill for like $120 a month!! It is high speed and goes through your cable... but I didn't see VA listed. I live in Mansfield, OH and it wasn't listed either... on the site you can enter your address and it will tell you if it's available. It is wonderful!! Hope you get some relief soon :)

Tinkerbell Girl sorry they fired the morning crew. I would be ticked too!

Tinkerbell_Girl: Sorry that they fired your favorite morning crew! That really stinks. If they get enough nasty emails, it might change their mind.

:sunny:

lindakmonty; Thanks for the suggestion! Right now the internet is actually working, I hope it was just a glitch!! They are coming regardless Friday, so hopefully the problem will be fixed, and nothing will need to be changed. I always like to think of the worse possible scenrio so that I can prepare for it.
