Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 4

Linda: My head is spinning with all those numbers! I'm afraid to even buy a car because of the payments... DVC does sound like a great deal but I think I'll wait until I'm a little more financially stable. Anyone know where I can find a rich hubby who loves Disney?
:rotfl: sorry!! That is what is bad, I'd rather buy DVC than a new car:eek: I paid almost 50k for my car... 8 years later, it isn't worth a dime. If I had been smart and bought a cheaper car and bought dvc... I'd have another 35 years worth of vacations, and going several times a year! I'm trying to get to the point that I only get a loan on something that APPRECIATES. No car loans...no credit cards... only on something that goes up in value.

Mike and I have talked about buying DVC. I think if we ever do, I will buy resale and probably under a 100 points. It really is a good deal.

I really want to rent points once so we can see what it's like. The only problem is I worry since you have to trust the person you are renting from.
so true! I can't wait to see what Mike really has to say about it. I want to buy into it so bad. even it it is in 50 point increments. That would be awesome to get 50 points or so at each of our favorite properties!

Amber- I want to do the same thing. For my Nov. trip I wanted to rent points, but everyone on the DVC board it seemed like, had 10 or less posts. It looked a little fishy to me, so I decided just to book through Disney where I know I'll have a room ready for me.

And the rumors of a dvc going to be at Contemporary:faint: that would be too awesome!!! Mike would love that! so would I...but the convenience w/the monorail... the ultimate!

Hi everyone!!!

First of all, I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to Lyzziesmom for the upgrade! :cool1: I am so, so happy for you. (And extremely jealous.)

I just got back from the check up appointment with my endodontist. I am amazed, it was like night & day from the last appointment!! He was so, so nice, like the first couple times I saw him. Maybe he was just having a bad day. :confused3

I told him how I was still in pain with my tooth and it seemed like some other teeth hurt too. Turns out my bite was off and it causes pain/inflammation in the ligaments for something:confused3 He gave me some steriods to take and said it should help with the pain. He also said I grind/clench my teeth and he thinks that and the sensitvity with my teeth is causing my pain. I'm still alittle nervous that I might need more root canals an crowns :scared1: but I'm trying to be optimistic for now.

I'm back to looking for medical insurance again. He told me I should go to the allergist (since I am allergic to so many antibotics, but haven't been retested since I was little) and because he said my immune system could somehow be affecting inflammation in my teeth, causing pain, I should get some blood tests done.

I'm so confused. It seems like the only time you can get good coverage is if you get it through an employer, if you purchase medical insurance for just an individual, it seems like a rip-off. I'm looking into just going on Jeremiah's medical insurance that is through his job- but the dental really stinks, so I want to purchase that on my own. If I can find a good plan, that included both I would do that.

This is just a vent on my part, but my Mom was telling me a story about how my Aunt's roommate had a severe tooth infection that he was really sick from. He went to get a root canal after being in bed for days and days, and he couldn't get numb and they said even pus was coming out of the tooth it was so infected :scared: He couldn't get numb and basically left, only to get the tooth extracted. But what is so concerning to me is, this guy could have DIED because of this! If he only would have gone to the dentist when it first started hurting, it would have been much better for him. Just because he doesn't have medical insurance, it could have cost him his life. It is frustering for me, because medical insurance is so expensive and I don't qualify for any help from the government because Jeremiah's pay is too high. It almost seems like, there is help for lower middle class, low income class and ofcourse there is help for the upper class.. But what about people who make a decent living, but can't afford good medical coverage? Off my soapbox now.

I am so glad its the weekend!! It is HOT today and I'm hoping it stays that way- I want to work on my tan this weekend! (Which reminds me...bathing suits :scared: I wear a two piece takini thing too. I used to wear a bikini when I was about 40 pounds lighter :rolleyes1 but those days are long gone!!)

Ashley: I know what you're saying about insurance. We used to all be on assistance but I now make just barely too much money, but it's so expensive on my own. I don't think there really is such a thing as "good" dental coverage. It's usually pretty cheap through employers though, and most will cover 80-100% of preventative stuff like xrays and exams, and 60-80% of anything else if you're lucky. It's never great, but it's a heck of a lot better than nothing. I think you'd probably just be best off with going onto Jeremiah's plan than getting an individual plan - those usually are more of a discount program and will cost more in the long run I think. Good luck with getting that pain under control!

I've been researching OKW all morning and now I'm second-guessing and wondering if I should have tried for SSR. I've got a bad case of "the grass is greener..."! It looks really nice, but having lived in FL for so long the theming looks very familiar, not really like a vacation. Oh well, I'm sure we will love it, the photos never do justice to any place at WDW! The place is so BIG though, and it doesn't really have much in the way of counter service. Guess I shouldn't complain... I'm still SO incredibly excited about the upgrade and have to pinch myself!! I ran the numbers, and if we were actually paying for the 3 rooms at OKW it would cost us $8382.58 more than what we are paying. Almost $3000.00 of that is just what I'm "saving" on my reservation alone!!

I am a little miffed at the CM I spoke to this morning though. I asked him to make sure my and my brother's rooms are either on the ground floor or in a building with an elevator, because he just had his knee surgery and I can't do stairs very well, especially while lugging the stroller. He said it wouldn't be an issue, because all the buildings have elevators. Then I go to allears and it says that only the 3 newest building have elevators. Now I'm not sure which is right, because the allears info also hasn't updated their info about the resorts going non-smoking and says only certain buildings are smoke-free. So maybe things have changed since they wrote their info? Or maybe the CM lied to me or just was uninformed? I'm so confused. But happy!! I'm sure it will all work out just fine.

I have another lunch date with the XBF today at the Olive Garden. I'm so hungry I'm sure I'm going to stuff myself silly! And then after work today is a small informal happy hour, which should be fun plus a really good chance to get to know a few more coworkers. There is just no sense of community in this office since we are spread out over 2 floors. Lyzzie will be sleeping over at her friend's house tonight, so maybe Mom will change her mind about babysitting at my house and decide to watch Emma overnight. I'd be much happier with that, I hate when they babysit at my house in the evening. I feel like a teenager coming home when I get home and my parents are sitting on my couch!

Lyzziesmom, I personally would've chosen Saratoga because Jeremiah & I toured it and it was GORGEOUS, but I'm sure OKW is very nice. I know what you mean about the Florida theming though. Thats one of things that cocerns me about the DVC resorts, how spread out they are!! I've heard most the buildings at OKW don't have elevators. Maybe they have changed that? :confused3 Maybe you should call back and double check, especially since its for a medical purpose!

Hope you have a nice lunch date with XBF. :)

Ashley: Yeah, after looking at more information I think SSR would work better for us, if we can get it. I like the look of it SO much better, plus it has a counter-service which we would use a lot and OKW doesn't. But if we can't change, no biggie.

/
Ashley- Do you use a mouth/teeth guard? That might help out a little with the pain.

Lyzziesmom- It's so tough having to choose! I've never seen OKW, but like the look of SSR. Hopefully you'll be able to change it! Have a good time with the XBF!

lyzziesmom~ I am so happy for you getting the upgrade, I am also green with envy. We resort hopped last time we were there and both are beautiful, but SSR looks a little more upscale to me. It also has an onsite spa and the pool is really neat.

I saw a few rants about medical insurance so I want to climb on the soapbox for a moment. I am so tired of feeling like I am hung out to dry. Dh and I make too much money for any kind of goverment assistance, but the healthcare at his work is awful:scared1: . They won't even cover the kids shots. So we are now looking into buying medical coverage ourselves, but the for the price I could have a DVC share. I'm thinking of moving to Canada at least it is equal for most citizens. The problem we are having is that my son has very very bad eczema to the point he has open wounds on his body. Well my lovely doctor keeps prescribing creams, but they don't work and are full of steroids. Then she says take him to a dermatologist (insurance won't cover it) so I did. The just looked at him told me to wrap him in saran wrap and charged me $200 for that advice. So now my son looks like a leftover and I am no better than where I started. How can our country be the leaders of the free world when we can't even seek proper medical attention. I guess congress has good medical coverage and that is all that really matters to them.

Okay off the soapbox now.

I really want to talk dh into the land sea thing, but I have one question. If you do the sea portion after, does disney pick you up from the Cape and take you back? Do you just find your own transportation back to MCO? I know they will take you there, but I want to make sure how I can get back.

Has anyone taken a child under three? I am worried that my dd won't have a good time and I will spend most of my time comforting her.

BTW~Donna those pancakes look wonderful. I am drooling and considering adding Kona to our schedule for this trip.

Ashley- Do you use a mouth/teeth guard? That might help out a little with the pain.

It's so funny, my regular dentist said she didn't think I grinded my teeth, so she said I couldn't be approved for a custom made mouth guard. Yet I KNOW I do because I have woken up while grinding them and my endodontist says I do....I've seen ones you can buy over the counter at Target and places like that, maybe I will try that.

surfergrl31, so sorry your son has to go through that. I'm trying to figure out the medical insurance thing right now.

I can help a little...they do have busses going from cruise to mco. typically you have to pay like $69 a person for round trip from mco to cruise, then cruise to mco but w/the land/sea I think it might be included. Of coarse the ME is included but we always drive..so I'm not 100% sure.

I took my ds when he was 18 months, 2 1/2, 4,and just before his 6th birthday. It was fantastic each time. Watching his reactions to the characters and the shows etc. It was great. The nursery there was the first time I ever left him w/anyone that wasn't family and they were terrific. I have started planning a wdw trip several times and ended up going on the cruise instead. or just added a few wdw days to the cruise ;) I actually think I enjoy the cruise more than wdw!! It is so much more relaxed and laid back. No crowds, long lines and rushing people trying to get somewhere.... just lay back and enjoy yourself. There is tons going on for the kids in the clubs if they wish. I let Kenny pick what he wanted to do. That is when the highlighter comes in handy so you don't miss something you want to do. There is so much going on... princess meet and greets. they tell you who is going to be where and when so you can avoid the crowds or get a spot in line for autographs and pix. it is just too awesome!!! you will love it!!! plus they'll meet and play w/other kids too!

I thank god for our insurance!!!! my dh retired from the military so now we have terrific coverage. before that... I was paying over $600 a month for my son and I!!!:sad2: I feel your pain! I make a decent wage...but that is still ridiculous!

lyzziesmom... have fun on your lunch date!

I want to go check out the dvc resorts so bad!!!!

Mike has one of those guards...he says they really help! I bet that would help your pain a lot!

:welcome: Surfergrl! I can't remember if I gave you an official welcome as I'm a bit scatter brained lately!:rolleyes1
I know what you mean about the insurance. This is the first year I don't have to pay $1000s out of my pocket for office visits and such. Now we have an awful HMO that there are only a handful of drs that take it, and most don't speak very good English. At least I only pay a small copay now. About your son's eczema, a friend of mine works for Mustela baby products company. She had mentioned that her daughter has really bad eczema and she uses a few of their products that are made for it and how it clears it up rather quickly. I tried some of it and it works really great. The product brand is Mustela the cream for eczema is called Stelatopia, there is also a body wash that goes with it. It is very gentle as it is made for babies skin. http://www.mustelausa.com/

Ugh, I'm on hold with WDW right now trying to switch resorts, and everything was going fine but now they're trying to tell me they can't make any changes on my brother's reservation because some idiot put Attention:Linda on the reservation instead of my name. The only Linda I know is lindakmonty! I told them I've already changed the reservation twice, and the name was entered by mistake and I've asked them to fix it, but this CM has put me on hold for almost 15 minutes now. I love WDW but I hate how their system works, and each CM will tell you different "rules." Cross your fingers for me!!

 oh no!!! Good luck...and I didn't do it!!!!

Linda, I know it was you!! ;) j/k... I just got off the phone, turns out she had to talk to a supervisor because "other people didn't follow the rules and shouldn't have changed your reservation" but she got it fixed, and had just kept me on hold while she changed all the rooms over to SSR, so that's done too! Three 1-bedrooms at SSR -- woohooo!!

Hopefully this will be the LAST change I have to make, I'm tired of talking to those people!

Does anyone else have trouble hearing the music while you are on hold with WDW? It's all choppy every time I call. I like the music they play, but I'd like it better if it didn't sound like they were driving through a tunnel while playing it.

Lyzziesmom- That's great you got everything changed! The Disney music is choppy for me too whenever I call. I'll be all into the music, and then suddenly it will get choppy!

bummer!!! gotta hear the whole "zippidy doo dah"...I love calling listening to their music...gets ya in the mood!

lyzziesmom...yay for switching to SSR!!I was looking at the online tours... WOW! :cloud9:  for some reason Boardwalk just looks so awesome! I've never been there yet:rolleyes1

 I can't believe who just showed up at my door. Remember the problems we have been having with the siding and roof? Well we had talked to our lawyer and all the information they could find on the company said they had gone out of business. Basically we were SOL. The lawyer did send a fix it now or we will sue you kind of letter, but we never though anything would come of it. Well they showed up to see what the problem is and will be her either Monday or Tuesday to fix it.:yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :dance3: :yay: Crap, I guess I have to add that to the kitchen floor, carpeting, patio door, babysitting the neighbors kid and packing for Disney World.:scared1: :headache: Oh well, they are going to fix it!:yay:
