Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 3

April: you poor girl with a kitchen full of ketchup! I am so grossed out by tomatoes that I would have been a wreck if I had ketchup all over me. I can't stand the smell of it or even to touch it!! And the broken glass, ugh. It sounds like you took care of it nice and quick without freaking out... much better than I would have handled it. I'm glad you got it all cleaned up. Did you still make spaghetti for dinner (with new water of course)? Or did you give up and make - or order - something else?

:rotfl: :lmao:
Not freaking out? Not exactly I'm ashamed to say. Sometimes my red-headed temper, Jersey attitude comes out on my poor unsuspecting husband. You see, the whole story is that I said "Could you hold this?" (the pot but I didn't specify the pot). He thought I meant the cabinet door above my head (?????? :confused3 ) so he touched the door and walked away!! Then the catastrophe happened and I was like, "Well thanks alot!!" All freaking out because at that moment it was his fault! So I was just "Rah, rah, rah, rah  " but when he pointed out that I said hold this as I was opening the cabinet door (even though I was motioning with my hip to the pot :lmao: gosh that does sound ridiculous now that I see it, motioning with my hip) I did become rational again and quickly we set out to get the kitchen cleaned up and me cleaned up. But, blech, when I was taking my jeans off out by the washer the leg flipped around and smeared cold ketchup all over my bare leg and that did wig me out a bit. And that stupid glass. Tiny little shards everywhere. Luckily, we were able to get the dog and cat out of there before they got it in their paws.

ETA:: I DID apologize to poor Steven after my freaking out. Just wanted to make that clear, I can admit when I'm wrong and say I'm sorry.

April: yeah that sounds about right. In my house there would have been about the same thing, with a lot more shrieking. By me.

80 miles? Bless you heart, that is a distance. Yea, and Raleigh is about 4 or 5 hours from here. I know because I have a bunch of credit w/ Southwest Airlines and the closest they fly is into Raleigh/Durahm which is a little over 5 hours away. Whatever happened with your telecomuting? Just before I went down w/ the computer for my move you were talking about getting your home office set up. Did you ever live closer than 80 miles? I just think that drive would get old how do you do it?
Yeah, that might be a little far ;) I have been working from home 1 day a week. We were all hoping that they'd send all the invoicing to me, but you know how that goes... I've been driving down there for way too long. March will be 8 years!! I've never lived closer...jsut rack up a ton of miles on my poor car!

Linda: My dad works for Sprint here, along with 90% of the city. He lives less than a mile from the Sprint HQ. The thing with Sprint is, most of the people they hire are contract workers, and they do a LOT of layoffs. In the 5 or 6 years my dad has worked there, they have done layoffs of at least 5,000 people about 8 or 9 times, once was just a few weeks ago. He is always afraid of losing his job, but somehow his department always escapes the layoffs. It is very hard to get a job there, the hiring process takes forever, plus I don't really like working for large corporations. However, I do get a good deal on my cell phone through my dad! And at this point, I'd be willing to consider almost anything because my job is driving me nuts. That's so sweet that you would think of me like that!!

No way!! My x's uncle worked there for years but transfered back to the office in TX quite awhile ago. Its crazy...our co. just laid off a bunch of people and then not a month later, they hire people:confused3 so annoying!
Oh well... Mike wants to check his car site so I'll be back ;)

OK, so one more question and then I'll try not to keep prying into your bid~ness. :rotfl:

What made you apply to a job that was 80 miles away? The reason I ask is, when I lived in Delaware people were commuting to New York City (2 hours away), Philly (50 minutes away) and Washington D.C. (1.30 hours away). But mostly, it was because these commuters had those jobs and then wanted to move to the country, which (is why we left) turned into just a big 'ol suberb of Philly, New York and D.C. Now, I see that the S.C. capitol of Columbia has quite a few job opportunities and I asked Steven about how long it would take to get there and he said about an hour and a half and I've actually considered it but I just don't think I could set out knowing I had that trip in front of me. So, I guess I'm just fascinated by others who actually do it. And I'm fascinated about what others do as far as careers and lines of work because I'm exploring right now. So forgive me if I seem so nosey, I'm just searching on a quest to find what I want to do w/ my life and what that might entail and look like. Like, maybe I won't get a job in Columbia but that is where the University of South Carolina is and I've thought about would I commute if they didn't offer what I needed at Clemson (which is only 8 miles away)? Like Pharmacy. Clemson offers Pre-Pharm but you'd have to take the actual classes at USC which is in Columbia.

So, thanks for bearing with me and putting up with all of my questions.

Look at me racking up my post count on our thread. ;) :rotfl:

Well, I've got to get the dinner dishes washed up and put my clean sheets from the dryer back on the bed but before I do that I've got to fold the pile of towels on the unmade bed.

Boy, did I have a mess here earlier. I was trying to fill a pot w/ water for spaghetti (sp?) and I was reaching over my head trying to grab the salt while balancing the pot on that tiny little divider in the middle of the sink (because I had dishes in the sink  ) well, in my one handed attempt I hit the brand new glass bottle of ketchup. It fell down into the drainer full of dishes broke and bounced out onto the floor. There was ketchup splattered ALL OVER the kitchen. It actually hit the wall across the room. I had ketchup all over me, all over the rug by the sink and all over the WHITE cabinets!! Little shards of glass everywhere including my pot of water for spaghetti. :sad2: I wasn't too happy but it was my fault. I stuck everything in the washer right away rug, jeans, slippers, socks and luckily it all came out. Any other time I wouldn't be putting a dirty floor rug in w/ my clothes but I was so disgusted I just shoved them all in together.

You poor thing!!! I can't imagine the mess that must have made:scared1: I'm glad you got that all cleaned up tho

Oh man April:guilty: I read your post to Kenny

Kenny has a message for you " this is Kenny and I want to make you feel better and yeah talk to you later yeah bye, Kenny"

OH man that sucks. I would have done the same thing. Now spaghetti does sound good! Watch out for that glass! yikes!

Kenny, you sound like such a great kid! I can't wait to meet you!:yay:

:rotfl: :lmao:

It took me years but I finally have Blake trained well...he understands that everything is his fault! I'm just kidding. But I can completely understand what you mean by gesturing with your hip. Don't husbands ( and children ) know they need to be able to read your mind!? Heck, they expect us to be able to read theirs:rolleyes1

I have been so lazy this weekend. Matt, Nick and Nick's buddy Alan have been outside having a snowball fight. We got a little more today, less than an inch. Add that to what I read in the paper this morning and we have a grand total this season of less than 5 inches. Not that I am complaining...I hate snow! But at least fresh snow looks prettier than brown, grey and dead looking.

I have been trying to find a shade of polish that I like on my toes. I have put on and taken off 3 colors today. I just don't like anything. Mainly in the summer I do a french manicure on my toes, I don't know why I am wasting my time with all these others, that is what I am going to end up with.

Michele: I usually do a bright pink or deep pinkish-red on my toes. It gets darker every couple of weeks, because I will paint right over it in a slightly darker shade rather than take it off every time. I go for pinker in the summer and bolder colors in the winter (if anything!), because nobody's going to see them anyway. Sometimes I'll even break out the bright blue or purple! I have never done a french manicure on my toes, the nails are just too darn small. I'd love to have a pedicure one day - can you believe I've never had one?

I completely agree with you... it is always the man's fault. If it wasn't, it should have been. ;)

Pozey----your pics are amazing too!!! I cannot believe those!! It looks like something out of a horror movie----but pretty in the same manner.

I have to get a bit sentimental now and say that did you ever realize that you were the first one to reply to this post when Fantasia started it?? And you're thanking us for including you?? No, no, no---thank you!! You're our leader, Master P!!!!!
Just trying to catch up a little on the happenings over the weekend.

I saw this and had to say thanks to 2x2s. Yes, I was the first one to reply. But hardly the leader of this wonderful group of people. Just proud to be a member.

I need to run, but I have to post this.......

Courtney has been going non-stop all day. Then I turn the corner and.......

She just couldn't go any farther.

April, no problem. You're not being nosey:goodvibes When we started there, it was my x and I both commuting together everyday. So, that wasn't so bad at all. There were 2 of us and only one car going back and forth. Shortly after that though they wanted me to audit. Which meant no longer commuting together b/c I'd be going all over the state, but I was taking home about 1k in mileage a month :cool1: so that didn't bother me. Plus I didn't really have to always work a full 8 hrs. Sometimes I would have to work more, but not very often. My x never wanted to move closer b/c his parents were getting older and everything. When I left him, I had full intentions of moving to Columbus... but then I met Mike...and here I am again..still 80 miles north...and driving all the time. I don't mind the drive, I mind the 3 hrs it takes out of my day! To work an 8 hr day I leave at 6:40 am and get home around 6:20. Its hard w/Kenny in sports. That will only get harder!!!! At least my boss' are very understanding and if I say I need to leave early or work from home that day...the don't care. I try not to take advantage too much b/c they don't have to let me do it. It always goes back to the same thing...the paycheck.:rolleyes1 Quite honestly there aren't too many companies that do what we do. There are basically about 3 in our territory and the other 2 don't have near as much work locally than we do, which means more traveling. they travel all over installing/removing telephone eq. and systems in telephone offices, in customer premises, in vaults (down underground)...cell sites...all over!

Michele... I love the french manicure on the toes:goodvibes I need to change my polish too:rolleyes1 it's been awhile. Yes, they're supposed to be able to read our minds too ;) Thankfully Mike and I communicate very well. Thank goodness!

Kenny keeps asking me if he's famous, b/c his pix is on my avatar

Hey Pozey...how sweet...my kids seemed to never to that...DARN!

Are you all melted out in BA? We are down to the yards and a little bit here and there on the street.:yay: I'm very relieved for this recent development...I was seeing more snow days this week in our future.

Goodness I see everyone was chatting away about jobs! April if you go back to school go for the gold...like some kind of nurse practitioner! Seems like many specialist are hiring them to see patients. This would take you out of the hospital setting. One of the best practitioner jobs I've seen with my kids are the ones at their allergy clinic! They see many of the regular sick patients and do some well child checks. There's no gory stuff involved...unless you think someones nose is gory. Phamacy would be great too as far as flexibility...but you would need to love chemistry. Good luck...:goodvibes

pozey: that picture is so cute! Lyzzie saw it and she says, "Awwwww, that little girl is cute. She looks kind of like Emma." She doesn't really, but sometimes we will find Emma crashed out. Yesterday she decided to nap in Lyzzie's bed, but it turned out she really just wanted to poop in Lyzzie's bed! (in her diaper of course but it still grosses Lyzzie out which Emma thinks is hilarious)

Linda: Mr. Kenny is famous! Too funny. I guess in a way he is, because a lot of people know who he is even though he doesn't know them.

What a cute picture, Pozey!! She just dropped in her tracks, didn't she?

April, sorry to hear about your fiasco with the ketchup bottle and your kitchen! I would have been so frustrated, probably not wigging out, but I'm sure I'd have been crying - just out of frustration. I'm glad to hear everything washed out, though.

Linda - telecommunications? I've got a couple friends who are/have been in that industry - it's so volatile!! Decent money, but lots of layoffs. One is still in the industry, but in the admin end; the other used to be an SS7 tech and is now a science teacher (her choice). Your company pays a LOT better than mine does. I work for a company that is kind of like a Disney - pays on the low end of the scale, but the benefits are really good. I've got great working conditions, too. So... I sacrifice in the pay department.

Lyzziesmom - I loved the new pics you posted -the girls look like they're having a great time. We didn't get any of the mass of snow they predicted for us yesterday! What a cute little house!

YM - almost melted down here. The yards are still covered, the street is clear in patches. I just looked up and see a dark spot on the ceiling.... going to go and look over our house really good. This we don't need.

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to stop in real quick. I'm making dinner (stuffed shells.) Whenever I cook, we always seem to eat so late!! :confused3 :)

We got our first snow today!! It snowed about a foot I think. We just stayed in all day, except to go to the grocery store.

I hope you all had a nice weekend!!! :yay:

A foot? Wow, Ash, that's alot of snow. My dad, in Jersey, called and said, "I'm driving in a snowstorm?" Um, then why are you calling me? Ever heard of both hands on the wheel?

Cute picture, Pozey!

Hey YM and DznyFan!

Hey YM and DznyFan!

Actually, Jeremiah just told me it wasn't a foot. He just told me it was more like 8 inches. Hey, I'm from Florida, it seemed like a lot to me!!!!

April- Good thing you weren't hurt! I would have freaked out!

Pozey- That pic of Emma is so cute!

Ashley- Stay warm!

I need a mani and pedi too. My nails look so bad. I've been meaning to take off my toe nail polish but haven't.

Hey, has anyone seen that new show Rob and Amber Agains the Odds that is playing on the Fox Reality Channel? Why am I saw drawn to these two? :sad2: I don't know but I am. And I am helping to contribute to their pockets w/ my continued watching.

On one of the episodes Rob says, "We just got back from overseas" and then when they're waking up he's like, "What time is it?" and Amber's like "I don't know 9 maybe 10."
I don't know, maybe it was a Saturday or Sunday.
Then he makes another comment, "I could never go back to a 9 to 5 job."

I mean, hey, they did win the money but talk about 15 minutes of fame. :rolleyes1

In one part Amber and Rob are arguing and she says something like, "Look at you rolling around like your Brad Pitt or something! You're just a t.v. Reality Star. Get over yourself!"

I didn't watch them on Survivor but my mom did, Chris and I used to be big fans of Amazing Race and when they went on there we realized what a low life Rob is...I wish people would stop paying them for being stupid. I mean COME ON!

Awww April, don't feel down! Other than my family, the only urge I get is Disney related:lmao: Work...OH that's just so I CAN GO to Disney:laughing: Hmmm Higher paying job = more trips to Disney:rolleyes1 is that sad or what!!! Thankfully you're not in the position you have to decide tomorrow, or if you don't make x $'s next week you won't be able to pay the bills ;) I'm w/ya. I'm so frustrated w/driving 80 miles one way to work everyday... but I just don't feel comfortable w/quitting that just yet. It will take me awhile to catch up w/what I make now. Decisions decisions!!! There has to be a site that has careers and basic salary range... you'd think.?

Girl, you are a saint for driving that! How long have you been doing it for?

Linda: you can tell Kenny that I feel exactly the same way! Emma was holding Kenny's picture today for a while, and she told me, "That's Kenny. I see him at Disney World. Does he have any fries?" :rotfl:

I have watched American Idol from the beginning, except for some reason I never really watched the season with Fantasia (was it 3?) and Season 2 I only watched the last few weeks. Then 2 years ago, Lyzzie really got into it and cried when Bo Bice didn't win, she even made signs and held them up in our living room! Last year I thought Katharine McPhee was going to win, but it looks like she turned out to be a flake. I just don't think Taylor really has a broad appeal and "staying power," but who knows? Look what Clay Aiken has done with just a 2nd place win. I like that it is a show I can actually watch with the kids and we all enjoy it. I don't really watch too much of the auditions, I usually just have it on in the background. Anyone who makes it, they will replay the footage ad infinitum anyway so I don't feel like I'm missing much, and once you've seen a few horrible singers they all seem the same.

Emma is sitting in a laundry basket watching tv and Lyzzie is outside playing in the snow again. She made another snowman with my dad in the front yard - they put snow ears on it and it looks really weird, but cute! No pictures, because I don't feel like going out in it again. I don't know how people live where it's like this most of the year, I'd go crazy! It is so pretty, but it's so coooooold!!

I so wish I was going! I want to meet Emma and Kenny so bad...so I can see Emma eat his fries!

Oh, and I love Kelly Clarkson...

Look at me racking up my post count on our thread. ;) :rotfl:

Little shards of glass everywhere including my pot of water for spaghetti. :sad2: I wasn't too happy but it was my fault. I stuck everything in the washer right away rug, jeans, slippers, socks and luckily it all came out. Any other time I wouldn't be putting a dirty floor rug in w/ my clothes but I was so disgusted I just shoved them all in together.

I did that with a jar of pickles one day. I was home for lunch and I couldn't open the jar and it just flew right off the counter and onto the floor where it shattered into tiny pieces and pickles and pickle juice went everywhere! I wish there had been a camera filming while I tried to scope a dog into each arm then do the squat-walk to get them outside while barefoot! It would have been hilarious to see! Then my kitchen smelled like pickles for weeks...

I need a mani and pedi too. My nails look so bad. I've been meaning to take off my toe nail polish but haven't.

Eek, me too! I had my nails redone before going to Florida but my toes are still from my sisters wedding...and my fingernails look like poop!

YM - almost melted down here. The yards are still covered, the street is clear in patches. I just looked up and see a dark spot on the ceiling.... going to go and look over our house really good. This we don't need.

DznyFan...I hope that dark spot on the ceiling is not from the ice? My DH was looking around for wet spots just tonight. I wasn't sure why and he siad some about ice backing up uder the shingles? I hope not.

Hi everyone!!

Hey Ashley...stuffed shells sounds good...nice and soft! Enjoy the snow...glad someone else got it. Nice to see you up around feeling better.:goodvibes
