Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 3

Well, I am finished my masterpiece. :faint: The resumes.

I REALLY, REALLY want this one job that I've been stressing over w/ the resume! I am totally qualified and it is RIGHT up my alley but I'm intimidated by the pay. Does that make any sense? Like, I am totally qualified for the position and it's stuff I LOVE doing but the pay is higher than I have EVER made and I'm feeling really insecure, like I'm not worth that much. Does this make any sense at all?

And also, some of my experience was not obtained on the job but it is what I do every day, week, year. It has to do with budgeting. I love budgeting. I do a monthly budget every month for us and every week I do a weekly allocated spending report . . . I give every dollar a name before I spend it. ~Dave Ramsey would be so proud

~ This is one of the reasons we're able to be debt free and have a savings. It's ok, you can call me a nerd.
glasses.gif
I am the family nerd.

Anyway, I love doing budgets and 25% of the job duties is dealing with budgets... "In collaboration with the college budget center, execute and/or administer financial transactions on behalf of the Department of Performing ARts and the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts for the following accounts..."
And the accounts are large money accounts. No sweat, if I can budget $50,000. I know I could budget $245,000, right?

Also, 10% of this position is "Serve as Chief Human Resrouce Office for the Department of Performing Arts. . ." Well, I've never been a human resources manager but I was a HR Assistant II and I am very proficient/familiar with hiring, collecting time sheets, maintaining employee records (while maintaining confidentiality ;) ) and even conducting exit interviews.

So (it's like I'm still talking in resume lingo.:rotfl: "Maintained, Responsible, Collaborated. . .) so, I really REALLY want this job but I'm feeling really intimidated. Don't know why, but I do.:guilty:

April, that job sounds awesome! If I ever wanted to work for a university I would have to work in the Performing Arts College. Of course I did graduate from one...

Can I hire you to do my budget? My poor husband does such a good job and is so careful...me, not so much!

I am still feeling blah. Mike and decided we are ready to have a child. We have been trying for a couple months now and I thought this month was it. Well, it's not looking promising. I've read that it can take several months, but I was really hoping that it wouldn't take long. We haven't really told people (we told his best friend, but that's the only one who knows in real life). I'm trying to keep a positive attitude, but I am just feeling a little down.

Hugs and prayers to ya girl!

Thanks for the info.

This just in: She got the lead!!!! She's Marian the librarian!

Now back to your regularly scheduled posting.

Congrats to Erin!! Erin the Librarian it is!!!!

Can I trade places with Lin!?!?

Speaking of Disney......I had a show TiVo'd from a few weeks ago that we watched last night. It was from the History Channel called Modern Marvels. And it was all about the building of Walt Disney World. If you have never seen it, it is one of the best shows about Disney I've ever seen. It was great.

They actually sell that Modern Marvels at WDW! Its only 19.99 and I should have bought it, but I bet you can get it on Amazon.com too and I know you can order it on Historychannel.com

Hi everyone this is Sherri, April's sister. She asked me to come on and introduce myself to everyone. Especially those who will have the pleasure of hanging out with me at WDW:rotfl: I am so excited to be going with others who love Disney as much as my sister and myself. 19 days and counting:banana:

Hi Sherri! Its nice to meet you!

Thanks for the Irish Coffe, DznyFan. Takes me back to Ragland Road. Goodness I love that place!! :goodvibes

Now, DH thinks it's cool so I guess I'm down with that. At first I was like, "What am I signing up for?" But he just had all of these suggestions of what to put in the locker. Like for example, sometimes we go off property but we don't know our way around Orlando. So, we could get a map and leave that in there. I always bring/buy my own toilet paper just group me with the other toilet paper snobs, ahem Ashley. :lmao: and last time DH was going to throw it away because we couldn't cram one more thing in the suitcase. But leave it to me, I squished it right down flat like a bug. :rotfl2: Then we thought we could leave our travel pack tissues, hair barrets and hair ties. That kind of stuff. And if something should happen and I not get that stuff back then I wouldn't be too terribly upset. But some of their suggestions are Playstations??? :confused3 :scared: Mini-stereos???? :confused3 :scared: I'm not willing to do all that just yet.

That program seems neat, especially for storing your travel toiletries, curling iron, sunscreen and maybe a spare memory card for the camera just in case! Awesome that you won a free trial!

Hi everyone!! I just finished cleaning up the supper dishes, I made tacos. They were pretty yummy; not that tacos are gourmet faire or anything.

ETA::: I think Lin's plane doesn't get into Dallas until 9:55PM!!

Donna, tacos are my favorite! Our plane got delayed and we got in a little before midnight! I was so tired!

Everyone is planning on wearing "I Support Tigger" shirts???? What do they look like?

The Creative Design board has a bunch of people that will make designs for you. They made a Disney baseball design for me and a couple of funny designs for us to give on shirts to my DBIL and DSIL on their honeymoon. They are really sweet!

It seems like several places I don't care for how the menu looks and end up really liking the food. Hmmm maybe one of the restaurants at AKL? Would Emma like the animals there? Good luck finding something!! I'm sure something will open up. I'd keep checking back on Chef Mickeys too.

We went and had drinks Sunday night at AKL. It was really fun. Thats where Ashley and Andrew stayed on their honeymoon and she was telling me that Boma has Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwhiches on their buffet for people who don't like the african food!

Yep, that's me. That is the only positive to come from my cube move.......I moved away from my cube neighbor who popped her gum constantly.

Pozey, that is my BIGGEST pet peeve. My best friend Kathy does it and I constantly have to warn her... I always feel like the girl in the Cell Block Tango in Chicago, "You pop that gum one more time..."

Oh, I have to tell you guys about this.........

On Monday, I received a phone call from a headhunter. She said that she had a company that was looking for a Lead Analyst for a company here in Tulsa. We talked about everything and decided to go ahead and send the company my resume. I should hear something later this week or early next week.

So, anyway, I decided to do some research about the company – what they do, how long they have in business, and so on. I go to their website, and I find some information on their executives. And then I found this nugget. Their Chief Operating Officer – who from what I gather would most likely be my boss – is Pamela McKissick. And I found this blurb on her background information:

McKissick also has held several positions and was instrumental in developing the successful marketing, promotion and creative for The Walt Disney World. Her titles included vice president of Network Specials and director of Creative Services for Walt Disney World/Epcot Center.

Is that not wild?

That is too awesome!

Hah! I think I maxed out the multi-quote! I know I had more after this one, but oh well! Give me a minute and I'll give you guys some trip info. I want to start my trip report for real but I'm having a hard time loading my pictures onto the host site.

Yippee! It posted on the third attempt!

April, so sorry to hear about your haircut! I have hair that way too and I hate having to find a new person!

Alright, here is some basic trip stuff!

The weather was FABULOUS! It was gorgeous beyond gorgeous. Mid to high 70's during the day and mid 50's at night. It only rained on Saturday morning...not even rain, just that misty stuff and it was over in less than an hour.

Crowds? What crowds? There was no one there! We did wait in line quite a while for Soarin' the first time because the wait was posted at 20 minutes but it took almost an hour and then we waited almost an hour for Test Track but only because it broke down. We figured we didn't have anywhere else to be so we could wait. It was awesome. On our MGM day 2 college age boys actually laid down in the middle of the street right behind the Crossroads and everyone started taking pictures! It was funny!

Pop was alright and in great shape, but compared to my last stay at OKW it was a little lackluster. I guess I got spoiled, but I did love the food court! We did get skipped on the towel animals though! And I swear everyone else had them! You would walk down the corrider and every window had towel bunnies and dogs and we got nothing. But oh well! You can't beat Pop for the price!

Dream Squad! They were out and about. We saw TONS of people with Dream Fastpasses and a bunch of the Dream Mickey Ears. The second time we rode Soarin' we were in the hanger that was Pixie Dusted! We all got the Dream Lanyard with 2 pins! I was so excited! I'm a Pin Collector and this was the Dream I wanted if I got one! It made my day! But, we were so excited we forgot to take a picture!

My interview went extremely well! The only bad thing I found out, which is a good thing and a bad thing, is that Disney hires internally first and then any remaining positions get fielded out to external candidates. So, it is a little hard to get into the Professional program but once you are there you can move easily within the organization. Jane and I had a great talk that lasted over an hour! I got the direct contact information for the Professional Recruiter that handles my position and am to contact her periodically for the next couple of months. She anticipated that late March or late April she would have some open positions and if not then late September. Jane called me yesterday and told me how much she enjoyed talking to me and that I "embody the spirit of Disney and what they look for in a Cast Member" and that she had told the other lady all about me and how well our interview went and the other lady is excited to talk to me this spring. So, keep those prayers coming! We are looking at a July move so the timeline they gave me could work out great.

Had a great time with my sister-in-law. We didn't really know each other all that well before this and now we have so much more to talk about. We found out that we have a LOT in common that we didn't know about.

Feel free to field me any specific questions! I'll be working on my trip report shortly (as soon as snapfish starts cooperating with me).

Oh April, I feel your pain! I too once made the mistake of going to Penney's salon. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!! They asked me if I wanted conditioner, I was like, um... ye-aaaaah. So, then after a similarly botched haircut, they charged me something like $70!! For a CUT!! Apparently there was a $20 charge for "deep conditioning." I eventually got them to take that off, because that was NOT what I asked for, but I hated the haircut. I'm not so thrilled with the one I got this week either, but it seems like no matter what I do to my hair it looks the same three weeks later anyway, so why bother paying a fortune at a frou-frou salon if it's only going to look good for less than a month? From what I've seen in your pictures April, your hair is similar to mine. Thick and wavy, but doesn't want to curl the same in each spot or even the same every day? It's a pain in the rear end! I just don't fight it anymore, I just look at it and think, Ok... so that's what we're doing today.
No, I wish it were. Can you believe that my hair is thin and straight as a pin?? Seriously. I had to go for a massage at my chiropractor's office (it's included in his fee as part of therapy :confused3 ) and she went to pull my hair up to clip it and she said, "Ooh, I didn't realize your hair was so thin. It looks so full." Thanks alot for that little revelation.

I have to spray it and pump it up with volumizing spray and then I have to blow dry it until it's about 80% dry and then I have to blow it the rest of the way dry in sections with a round brush and then I spray it with some spray and then I come back with a big barrel curling iron to give it the body and waves. I'm from Jersey and I HATE flat hair. It takes a good half hour to do my hair. So, I try and do it every three days. If I take the time the first day doing all of the above ^ then, on the other days I can just grab the big barrel curling iron and get it "pumped" back up. By the third day, it's usually thrown up in a clip, though. :rolleyes1 If I don't have the time or if I know I'm not going to be going out or doing anything, I just blow it dry and it's flat and straight and fly away, wispy. :sad2:

Well, I see that Lin started her report. Can't wait to read the bonus section.
Lyzziesmom, have you eaten at Crystal Palace? That's where I forgot to take my camera even though Pooh is my absolute favorite!! Anyway, I thought their food was pretty good (even though I got some from the kiddie section :teeth: ). Just thought I'd throw that out there as a suggestion but I really don't think I want to eat at O'hana's. I looked at the menu again and I'm just not feeling it.

Oh, by the way. . . we're doing Disney Dining Plan!! :woohoo: Thanks to you all, I'm now officially hooked on the DDP.

Oh, and my other sister is not going to be able to make it. So, it's going to be just me and Sherri after all.

Also, in other news, Steven is going in for his SECOND interview with the state tomorrow.
yeah2.gif
Of course I still haven't heard anything yet
waiting.gif
.

I'm sitting in here typing this and our governor is giving his state of the union and I don't know what he's talking to or describing but I did hear him describe whatever it is as "The Red-headed step child."
rolleyes2.gif
Hey, Mark Sanfod, I've got red hair!!

Anyway, back to reading. I'm supposed to be doing the dishes while Steven is out helping his bud move a fridge but here I sit.

Oh Lin, that's wonderful!!! Thanks for sharing your experience. You may get the chance to live my dream!!

I'm thrilled that your interview went so well. You really made an impression and that's worth something!! :thumbsup2

Don't forget to get your thank you for interviewing me letter out and especially addresss something memorable in your interview conversation. But, I'm sure you already did that.

Sure, I'll do your budget. I love doing budgets. I just really feel like I've accomplished something when all the numbers zero out. Excuse the corniness but it feels so empowering. :rotfl:

OK, off to do the dishes. Then I hope to be back. I just want to have them done before he gets home, not that he'd say anything or probably even notice  but I know so, off I go.

Lin: Congrats on the great interview! I'm sure something good will come of it, but it sounds like it will take some time. Sounds like you had a great trip! I love when crowds are low like that. That's really cool about getting the lanyard & pins! I hope we get something in a few weeks but I'm not counting on it. I can't imagine WDW being any more magical than usual!

April: Wow you really have to work at that hair don't you? I used to spend about an hour every few days straightening mine and trying to tone down the volume, how funny is that! I love Crystal Palace and I did think about it, esp. since we can still just hop the monorail to Poly to meet up w/everyone else. I was really hoping to do something a little different, because we have done CP on the last 3 visits, but I do love it. They have the best key lime pie - I usually have 2 (or even 3) pieces! After I have my chicken fingers off the kids' section, of course. Hee hee!! Is Sherri going to eat at 'Ohana or will she join us at our alternate selection, whatever it may be? Too bad about your other sis, but you said she just sits at the pool anyway right?

April, I've never written a thank you (I've never really had an interview before). Do you have one you would mind letting me read? If so can you PM it to me? Thanks bunches!

FYI: Crystal Palace is my husbands favorite!

Oh, I just added to my actual trippie for all interested, though there are no pictures in this part.

No problem, Lin. :goodvibes I'll get that info together for you and PM it here shortly. :)

Is it Yolanda's Birthday today!!! It seems to say so on the Birthday board!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!!!!!

If my computer wasn't being silly I would give you a cake...oh wait, I might have just the thing... I'll have to look for it... And if it isn't your birthday it can be your unbirthday instead!

Well I went to the dentist and it's not good. He gave me a referral to an endodontist for a root canal, and said then I'll have to come back to him for a crown. This sounds painful and expensive! I wanted to get it taken care of before WDW but with all that, I think I'll wait until after I get back. I've never had a root canal or a crown, and I'm not really sure what all it entails, I'll have to look up some information and also find out how much my insurance will cover. Ugh!

I was at the dentist today, and the good news is no root canal, but I do have to get a crown because of a cracked tooth. I have had a root canal before, and they are not too bad just a pain in the a$$.:sad1:

Yolanda!!!

happy_birthday_10-728921.gif

You almost got this past us!!! You sneaky little thing!!

Lin- I wish you lived closer to me!!! "Wicked" is coming to Houston and I have no one to see it with! My mom wanted to go with me last year but doesn't want to go now. :(

My mom had a interview with Michael's today and is going to be their new beading instructor!:cool1: 2 weeks ago I told my cake decorating teacher that my mom makes jewelry and she said that she should look into becoming an instructor. So she called last week and had her interview today and got the job! She is so excited. We went there earlier and were there for an hour looking at beads.

Yolanda, you sneaky girl you! Happy Birthday!!

Nicole: that is very cool about your mom getting to be an instructor at Michael's! I would love to do the kids club classes and birthday parties, but I have no real qualifications except being good with kids and liking crafts. For the kids stuff, they tell the instructors what to make anyway so how hard could it be? The instructor they have here is really scary!! She has one eyebrow and a hunchback and a lot of warts, and mumbles a lot and messes up the crafts all the time. I mean she seems nice enough and all and likes it, just maybe not the best choice for a childrens instructor, y'know? There is another Michael's that is closer to my house actually, and we used to go to kids club there and the instructor is better, BUT... there is an adult man who is mentally handicapped and rides his bike in and does the kids club crafts. It's actually really sweet that they let him, and they usually let him do it for free, but sometimes he would scare Lyzzie when she was littler and he would try to talk to her, so we stopped going. I don't think he was dangerous or anything like that, but he made her nervous, she didn't understand that he was slow and why he was allowed to be in the kids class. Whew, that was probably waaay more than anyone really needed to know, sorry!

Lin, keep the trip report coming! I love it!! I wish I had gotten around to doing one, but I just kept putting it off and now it's been too long - I've forgotten a lot of the little details. Maybe next time...

I'm getting ready for bed but I have to brag a minute...

Nick loves the Japanese style of animation, anime. He watches all these weird shows and loves to draw. He has been working on this picture for days and just finished it. It is so amazing I had to scan it in to show you all.

I'll get caught up tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Yolanda!!!

Hi everyone

Well my tooth took a turn for the worst last night. Something was really, really wrong with it. I woke Jeremiah up at about 5 am because I couldn't sleep and I was in severe pain. It was so strange because it snuck up on me so quickly, it wasn't even the tooth I got x-rayed in December. It started shocking me (which means root canal! I've had ALOT of dental work done and I just knew.)

Well we found a dentist up here that were OK. Well it turns out I need a root canal (which I knew) and my tooth is severely infected. Well without insurance, the root canal would be over $3000, not including the crown! I just cannot afford that right now. Since it is the last tooth on the top right of my mouth, I decided I'm going to get it pulled. That dentist wasn't too happy about that, he said it wasn't a good idea because I'm so young, but also I have to consider that I was telling him I wasn't paying him over $3000 to do my root canal- it is a business, he wants the most money. The tooth extraction would only have been $240. I have had several root canals and several teeth problems, but this has been the worse.

Baically, he told me I wouldn't be able to get numb whether I got a tooth extraction or a root canal because its so infected. He put me on Tetracycline, and gave me a perscription for Percocet. Their oral surgeon only works on Monday's and I CANNOT WAIT that long so I had to go to ANOTHER office, (after the first office charged me $125 for nothing :sad2: ) That appointment at the second office was at 2 and I was at the first office at 8 so I went and got my prescription for Percocet (im sorry i keep mis-spellong this). Luckily I had some tetracycline that my mom sent me, since she works at a doctor's office.. I dont know if you guys know but I am severely allergic to almost all antiobotics and that was the only one I knew of that didn't make me have an allergic reaction. Luckily the generic percoset was only $10 for 16 pills.

ANYWAY I go to the second office and they were telling me I would have to wait 2-3 days for the antibotics because my tooth was so severely infected. Basically I was hysterical so I think they took pity on me, and I have an appointment to get sedated and get the tooth extracted tomorrow. I have problems getting numb as it is- and after the first dentist telling me it would be near impossible to get it 100% numb, I'm biting the bullet and paying the extra $250 to be sedated. That office was very, very, nice (like I said, I think they took pity on me.) That dentist gave me a second prescription of a new antiobotic I've never tried because he said tetracylcine isn't affective in tooth infections and luckily so far, I've had no reactions. I'm glad I didnt have to pay for the first antibotic because it would have been a waste of money, it would have cost like $50.

I'm also more happy with the second office- the dentist told me its a very easy surgery that would take 30 mins. He said I wont even miss the tooth, I hope he's right.

I'm sorry this is so long guys, I am just so physically and emotionally exhausted, and in the most pain I've ever felt in my life. I haven't slept since Monday night. My tooth keeps shocking me, its so horrible. my mouth is swollen, I can't even talk. So please say a prayer that tomorrow will be ok and I wont feel pain and I will be completely knocked out, and the recovery wont be too bad. I don't WANT to get it pulled but I dont have any other options.

Ashley, I feel for you honey! I had almost exactly the same thing last year, the last tooth on the bottom cracked and needed major work, so I decided to just have it pulled. I also have problems numbing up, have even woken up from anesthesia early, and had to have a nickel-sized mole removed from my forehead without being numb (they tried 5 diff. meds and I had a goose-egg from all the injections but I still felt everything) so when I got the molar pulled I paid the extra money to be put under. It wasn't bad at all! It hurts for a day or two after, and you can't use a straw or eat very much, but being asleep while they did the extraction was great. I think you made the right decision.

ETA: I would have made the same decision about the tooth I'm having trouble with now, but it's the one right in front of the one I had pulled last year so I can't have it pulled or it would leave me with no molars on that side!

What is it with all the bad dental stuff going on lately among the Cliqueless Crew?
