I have to ask though, as a musician... what's with the pursuing a music career? Is there some dark, Lyzziesmom secret you haven't shared?

No deep dark secret... Lyzzie's dad fancies himself a musician and had an opportunity to move with a friend who was supposedly going to open a karakoe business and set him up with his own show. He referred to that as his "big break" in the music business. Keep in mind that his idea of "being a musician" is wildly out of tune with the real definition. (get it, out of tune? ain't I clever his morning!) He writes notebooks full of lyrics and then locks them away in a trunk in fear of someone stealing his work :headache:, and makes tapes of himself singing drunkenly along with the preset music on his casio keyboard, then locks those away as well. :rotfl:

Just looking at those cruise prices hurts. I really really want to go, but I just don't know if I'll be able to in reality. I'm not that great at saving money long-term, and that is a LOT of money, we're talking 10% of my annual salary. I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for some good deals.

Wow you guys are all jumping on the bandwagon for a May trip aren't you?? I'm still in the planning stages, as in "Should I do it? Should I wait until Sept?" I just can't make up my mind! Ashley, that would be great if we could work it out so that we could meet up for a day or two at Universal - how fun! I think I still have a 1-day 2-park comp ticket left, so I'd only have to buy a ticket for Lyzzie and of course rent a car for the day. That is of course, IF I decide to go. The biggest thing is trying to figure out if I can take the days off of work, since I'll probably be going for a longer trip in September. Sorry, just thinking out loud here!

Michele: that's sweet that the boy stayed over to help with Lilly. Do you think he'll be able to keep it up? I can't imagine having that responsibility and still being in school. It sounds like right now he may still be in the stages of thinking it's cool - just wait 'till reality sets in, and then see what happens! Hopefully he will turn out better than the louts my girls have for "dads." I meant to tell you - I may still have a few baby items around from when Emma was little. We sold a lot of it at a garage sale, but a lot is left, packed away at my mom's house. Let me know if there is anything you need and I'll see what we still have. Lord knows I don't know what else to do with it all!

Well off to work for a while.

Thanks! I would get my instruction from the child, but I never see her, and I actually want to do the drag/drop from Windows Media on my work computer - I have a lot of music stored here at work. I guess I'm just going to have to download iTunes and try... my player should be here in a couple days. I got it for future traveling, mostly, so I don't have to drag around my Neandrethal Walkman CD player and CDs.
Thanks, Lesa!

You can only use 1 itunes per Ipod. So if you put Itunes on your work computer that will be the only place you will be able to update your Ipod on. If you also put itunes on your computer at home it will mess it all up. Trust me! However, there are programs you can buy from around $20 to do that. I hope that made since!

It did, and thanks for the tip! I downloaded the user's guide and was looking through it, and apparently there's a way you can set it up to where you can use it with different computers - something about setting it up to transfer "manually" instead of automatically. I may or may not try it - based on what you said... It says when set on 'manual', it won't automatically update when it's plugged into the computer. Hmmm.....
The problem is, all my music is already loaded here. (I have most of the CDs at home of course, but it would be time consuming to load them all there) BUT the majority of any music downloading will be done at home!

It may be all right to try as long as you have everything still on your work computer. That way if it messes up you still have a back up. When my computer crashed I lost everything and all I had was what was on the ipod. I do have a that helped me recover it, it was a lot of computer work. So it can be done. If you go to www.ilounge.com it is a very helpful forum.

Hey DznyFan………Colton’s class took a field trip to the High School on Monday. They met with Scott Tomlinson – the Supervisor of Instrumental Music. I guess this was the 5th grade’s introduction to Band and Orchestra. Seems that beginning next year, Colton will have 1 elective among his classes. He will have to choose between Band, Orchestra, Choir, and a class called Fine Arts Preparatory (which is a mixture of music, general art, and PE).

I am thinking he is going to have a difficult time deciding which elective he is going to take. Art has always been his favorite, and he is so good at it, but he is kind of disappointed that it would only be ¼ of the year.

I think he is really looking hard at the others – Choir, Band, and Orchestra.

It was just on the news... for all us dedicated bargain hunters, the best time to get a good airline bargain is on Wed. between 12-2am:rolleyes1 :teeth:

Well, some good news……I guess……
DW’s parents live about 2 hours away from us. They live in a suburb of Oklahoma City. Anyway, DW’s dad retired several months ago and they have been thinking and talking about moving back to the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area. DW has 1 sister and she and her family live here as well.

They put their house on the market less than 2 weeks ago. DW just called and said they had an offer and they accepted. The buyer wants to close and move in within 30 days. The in-laws have been looking at houses in the Broken Arrow area for awhile now, and I think they have found something they like. It is a new home, so they could close on it and begin moving in immediately.

Well I did it... I just booked for May!! I'll arrive late at night on the 4th and stay until late on the 10th, at ASMu, just me and Lyzzie. I might add Emma if my mom refuses to watch her. I got a good deal on Midwest Air, and was approved for a credit card that will give me $50 back plus I'll earn a ton of miles! :) I booked room only with the AP discount - since Lyzzie and I are not big eaters, we'll mostly just eat CS so we don't need the DDP anyway. I'm SO excited!!

Ashley: we will have to talk when you get your trip booked!

That's fabulous news!

Its a tough decision for the kids, but I'm sure Colton will make the best decision for himself.

Keep me posted!
