Linda- If you don't mind what exactly is there to do on a Disney cruise???

:faint: :teeth: of coarse I don't mind! Well, as soon as we board we go straight up to deck 9 to a wonderful buffet and have a bite to eat while our luggage is being delivered to our rooms. Then we take our carry ons in the bathroom and change to our swim suits, or wear them under our clothes ;) and hit the Mickey pool before there are many people on board :woohoo: It is a great time to take some great pix before there is too many people around. There are ping pong tables all over the sides of deck 9. Of coarse its great to lounge by the pool and get some sun. there are big shows every night that are incredible. there are comedians, there are a few night clubs, dance clubs, adult only areas ;), tons of family entertainment. Bingo where you win incredible prizes, like a free cruise!!! there are things you can sign up for like wine tasting. you go to a different restaurant about every night. you rotate around and you have the same waiters every night. they get to know you and are a lot of fun. like w/us we have kenny. so they seat you w/another family or two that have kids around the same age. that way they make buddies and the adults have things in common to talk about. It is just truly incredible. Palo is an adult only restaurant. you have to pay $10 per person for that, but it is incredible. very romantic  they have an incredible spa!!! there are shops to do some shopping... they have a theatre where they're always playing the new movies out...another huge theatre where they have plays w/the characters and stuff... it is just awesome. they tell you what characters will be where and when so you can get your pix w/them and autographs. that is all the time so the kids just love that. Plus about every other day you're at a different island so you get to go explore a different country about every other day. you can do on shore excursions while you're there. I've done the swim w/dolphins, swim w/stingrays, snorkeling, gone down in a submarine, tours of the islands, went to the sea turtle farms where they're raised etc. it is just wonderful. the food is fabulous, the water is so beautiful. you meet so many nice people. There is just a ton to do. If you look at www.castawayclub.com they show the navigators from the different cruises. it is in your room everyday that tells you what is going on all over the ship and the times etc. if you get bored...there is something wrong...if you don't gain weight...there's something wrong :teeth: I'm sure Lin and Dznyfan can second that:) It is just my favorite vacation. You don't have the lines and rude people like you do the parks. It is just so much more relaxing.... Mike is hooked too. there are so many things they do that I haven't done or seen yet in the 4 cruises I've been on. I'd love to take some of the cooking classes and different things they have going on. Its so nice to lay by the pool and listen to the live music... they have big parties and light off fireworks on Pirate night... it is so awesome...I'm getting all excited thinking about it. You can have goodies delivered to your room at about anytime... its just unbelievable. then their private island....ahhh that is just pure heaven. everything is split in sections the pools and beaches are children only, family, and adult only. so if you don't want to be around the kids...you don't have to. there is truly something for everyone!

this is a little blurry but so darn cute...well, of coarse I think so

Wow, chatty cathies and carls (just for you Pozey) today------

Donna----just enjoyed my eggs benedict---luscious as always!!!

I can't believe this weather missed you. I got really worried this morning because I heard that Collinsville was really bad with power outages----and for some reason, I keep thinking you are here, not Centralia. Hey, it starts with a "C", right?? Close enough?? :confused3 :teeth:

Nope, I have never eaten at Boma but would like to try it someday. I would really love to try Jiko, though----soon.

Michele---here's the thing---St. Louis even has a threat of snow and everyone freaks out. It was bad this time because of the ice, I have to admit. Hopefully your rain will stop soon.

April--yes, eggs benedict is one of my favorites!!! I even love variations of it. There used to be a place here that served one with a little piece of steak instead of the Canadian bacon. I also love the vegetarian version--florentine--with spinach and tomato. I have to say this is my favorite of them all. Okay, now I'm really hungry for it.

Too bad about the rental car. It could have been worse, though. Hopefully your day went a bit better.

I'll post my review of Brown Derby complete with pics a little later. :teeth:

Nicole---OMG---what a great idea about another park with retired rides/attractions!!!! You're a genious, girl!!! Now, you need to submit that to the Imagineers.

Yolanda----ooooh, I loved Tapestry of Dreams, too!!!!!! I remember watching it while standing in line for Candlelight Procession. I can still hear the music!!!! Of course, I had to buy the soundtrack too.

Lesa---another eggs benedict addict, huh?? Me too!!!!! (they have them at Kona, I do believe....hint, hint :teeth: )

I'm glad you got to attend the ballet last night after the threat of your weather. The Nutcracker is so beautiful!!!!

You don't like receiving gifts??? Well, just more Chia Pet for the rest of the crew. :teeth:

Gracie eating your bra!!! :lmao: :lmao: Good thing it wasn't one of the VS 1million dollar diamond studded numbers.

DznyFan---glad you got to stay home. I'll post my snow/work saga in a bit. Still not over it. :teeth: I'm taking deep breaths.

Is the house clean yet??

Lyzziesmom---I saw the same report on KC as Donna did. They said parts got tons and the other parts not a thing. Wierd.

Thanks for taking over the card list----I'd offer but I'm too computer illiterate (check my spelling there, babe) and it would take Wilma 4ever. :teeth:

Good luck finding a sitter for the girls tonight so you can go have a good time. If I lived closer, I'd offer to watch your tv and eat your food. :teeth:

Linda----I see your Minnie kissing Mickey. Is there another pic in your sig that I'm missing?? Or is my mind playing tricks on me??

I wanna go on a cruise!!!! (I'm stomping)----I've only been on one (Disney, of course) and I didn't even get to eat at the fancy restaurant. :guilty:

I'm an April b-day too!!! When's yours?? Mine is the 26th. (Taurus, the bull-headed one :teeth: ) oh, I just read----yours is the 29----yay, another April girl!!!!!!

:lmao: I can't believe Mike told Kenny that about the dinosaurs!!! :lmao: Bad Mike!!! :lmao:

oh, I forgot too-----  ---------> my face when I read about your ex's soon to be ex to the fifth!!!!!! Unreal!!!!! She sounds like a real winner. I hope the others are correct in saying that maybe since she was the instigator in him being such a role in Kenny's life, maybe he will just fade out now that she is gone. That would be great for you, Mike and Kenny.

Wow, what a great explanation of the DCL!!!!! I just remember relaxing!!! I only got to do the short 3 day, I think it was. But, it was amazing!!!

Pozey---oh, poor baby Chase!!!
My dad's birthday is Jan. 5 and I find myself doing that to him, unfortunately with the Christmas/birthday thing.
A WDW birthday for Chase sounds amazing!!!

YM---holy snowly!!!!!!

Did you have fun at home today?? You didn't by chance bake any cookies for me, did ya?? Because that is what I really wanted to do before I got summonsed to work.

You're youngest DS looks very seeeeerrrrious as the masked man!!!!

Ooh, you're boys are pretty good eaters----poached on toast--sounds good. I may have to have that for dinner. Believe it or not, I finally, within the last year and a half or so, learned how to do poached without a special pan. I used to freak out when I would have friends over for eggs benedict because I could only do three eggs at a time in the poacher. Now I can do as many as I want. Aren't I neat?? :teeth: :lmao: (sorry, as I was typing this, I just sounded so full of myself :lmao: )

Lin----yum, thanks for the "drink". Have a good day at work. Hopefully you will make some good sales.

I thought you have to have flight info on ME documents, but I may be wrong about that.

I work in a spa (I'm an esthetician)----but you probably already know that because I've mentioned it in the past.

Your poms are adorable!!!!! My grandparents used to have them.

All these cruise pics!!!! STOP!!!!! Maybe we should make that our cliqueless goal for 2008??? Just an idea. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Oops, sorry, I just read that you guys are already on it. The only thing, during Dec. I can't take any vacation. :furious: But, don't let me hold you back. (I could go as of Jan. 1, though) :rolleyes1

whew, that was one looooooong post!!!!

Wow, where'd everbody go??

I had to leave suddenly earlier and I came back to being all alone here. hmmm.

Anyway, as promised to Miss April-----here is the Pin-cess' dining review for Hollywood Brown Derby. We did this in combination with the Fantasmic Package, so we paid OOP for it because we found that with our other dining experiences, it was less pricey to do it this way than to use 2TS for it. So......to start..........

Appetizers....

This is the infamous Cobb Salad that my mom and dad split. It is meant for two people and they even brought an extra plate for me so I could have a taste. It was definitely enough for 2 + people. If you are not familiar with this salad, note that it is "chopped". I have heard complaints on the dining boards about this, but I love a chopped salad. This did not disappoint!!!!

IMG_0422MediumWebview.jpg

Cobb Salad for Two with chopped greens, turkey breast, egg, bacon, tomatoes, bleu cheese, avocado, chives and Cobb dressing $13.29

The appetizer that I chose was the seared sea scallop and pork. If you notice the description I almost passed this up due to the "belly" part-----even though I am a foodie, I still have a weak stomach and this just made my face scrunch......but tried it anyway and now I crave it!!!!! It was so wonderful and such a great combination of the scallop and the bbq pork; the pork "belly" was just a piece of pork--almost like a small short rib w/o the bone.

IMG_0420MediumWebview.jpg

Seared Sea Scallop with barbecued pork rib belly and corn relish $8.39

.....I wasn't finished :badpc: , so I will continue.....

Main entrees.....

This chicken dish is what my dad got, because he can't handle alot of "spicey" or "fancy" things. This was about as basic as he could find. He said he liked it, but to be honest, he hardly touched it. Maybe he just wasn't that hungry. He was also having some "conversations" on the cell phone with his company which he owns, so maybe he was just having an off night. I tasted it and it was basically just a fancy chicken and rice casserole, IMO. It was comforting, though.

IMG_0424MediumWebview.jpg

Citrus-glazed Rotisserie Half Chicken with toasted almond-chervil pilaf and natural juices $19.49

The next dish is what my mom ordered. It is the sesame ahi tuna. I almost got this but just wasn't in the mood for something with an Asian flair. It was very good, though. In fact, probably the best of all three entrees.

IMG_0423MediumWebview.jpg

Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna with honey-gingered spaghetti squash, warm soy vinaigrette, and Wasabi oil $22.49

The grouper is what I chose due to many reviews on the boards. I couldn't wait for this dish. I was a bit disappointed, however. The description sounds amazing, but in my opinion, was just a bit too bland. It was missing that "kick" that I thought it would have. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. I think I would choose something else next time, but I'm glad I tried it.

IMG_0425MediumWebview.jpg

Pan-Fired Grouper over balsamic roasted asparagus, lemon butter sauce, topped with Bermuda onion marmalade $23.99

Wow...I must have dozed off.... :cloud9: I was reading a post and I guess I feel asleep....I need to go back and reread to see why I dozed off..was there a long post? :confused3

.........and now to the good stuff :teeth: .......

My dad loves creme brulee so guess what he got?? I told you all my creme brulee story, but had a taste anyway. It was good, but for some unknown (okay, I know :crazy2: ) reason, I just can't get past it. Maybe some day.

IMG_0428MediumWebview.jpg

Double Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee with a gingersnap sugar stick $6.99

I chose the infamous Grapefruit Cake. It was different, but good. I'm not sure if I'd order it again, mainly because I would HAVE to have what my mom ordered (which she didn't share enough of)...........you'll see in a second. The grapefruit cake reminded me too much of my sister's wedding cake, which, believe it or not, I wasn't crazy about----it was a citrus pound cake with buttercream and fresh blueberries. Just call me a traditionalist when it comes to wedding cakes.

IMG_0431MediumWebview.jpg

Grapefruit Cake - A Brown Derby Original! Light Layers of Yellow Cake with fresh Grapefruit Cream Cheese Icing $6.19

This is what my mom ordered. As stated before she let me have a bite---that's it. She was being stingy with it. :teeth:
This dessert speaks for itself!!!!! :faint: :faint: :faint:

IMG_0427MediumWebview.jpg

Flourless Chocolate Cake with port wine chocolate sauce, fresh berries and mango ice $7.99

So, there it is----my review of the Hollywood Brown Derby. We sat in a back room, which at first I was disappointed in because we were out of the "main" room and all the hub-bub, but it ended up to be really a nice, quiet dinner, which I think we needed. I would definitely go back, especially for the appetizers and the amazing flourless chocolate cake. I would choose my main entree a bit more carefully, though.

2xcited....excellent dining review of Brown Derby. I have not eaten there. Are you going to post on the dining plan thread?

Hey I'm going to be baking cookies tonight and tomorrow. We are getting the tree down tonight. My DS (9) is having a friend sleep over.... :teeth: It's going to be nice and quite here tonight. :rolleyes1

Any special request for cookies?

I had every intention in doing a trip and dining review, but I guess I chickened out in fear of it being boring. I guess time really slipped by me too.

Cookies?? Seriously?? Hmmm, let's see........right now, anything you are willing to share. :smokin: :teeth:

Have fun with the extra child. :3dglasses

I will be dising too so if anyone wants to chat...feel free. :teeth:

ETA...oops it's Teacakes :teeth:

I forgot to mention that I called (from work, mind you) the nurse at the oncologists' office to see if they had heard any word from my insurance company on the approval of the new treatments. When I got home from work, there was a message from her that she tried to call the insurance company but they were closed due to inclement weather. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I just find this extremely amusing!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Put your apron on, and don't forget your holiday earrings (maybe the ones you wore to chop that wood).

I'll be in and out tonight too. You know me, I can't be here and use the phone at the same time, unless it's my cell.
